TOKiMONSTA Artist Series: Emma Lovewell Leads Live DJ Ride May 7
TOKiMONSTA Artist Series: The Grammy-nominated producer and DJ performs a live set at PSNY in a 30-minute cycling class with instructor Emma Lovewell on May 7 at 7:30 PM ET.
The TOKiMONSTA Artist Series arrives at Peloton Studios New York on Thursday, May 7, with instructor Emma Lovewell leading a 30-minute Live DJ Ride at 7:30 PM ET. Australian members can join at 9:30 AM AEST.
The class lands during Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, which Peloton has consistently marked with dedicated programming. TOKiMONSTA — the stage name of Jennifer Lee — is one of the most prominent Korean American voices in electronic music, and the timing is a natural fit.

Who Is TOKiMONSTA?
If the name is new, the background is worth knowing before you take this class. Lee grew up in Torrance, California, the daughter of Korean immigrants, and built her career out of the Los Angeles beat scene of the early 2010s. She made history in 2010 as the first female artist to join Flying Lotus’s Brainfeeder label, one of the most influential collectives in underground electronic music.
Her production style moves across instrumental hip-hop, electronic, R&B, and club music — rooted in a classical piano foundation she developed as a child, and expanded through years working in LA’s underground music circuit. She has collaborated with Anderson .Paak, ZHU, and EarthGang, among others.
In 2019, her 2017 album Lune Rouge earned her a Grammy nomination for Best Dance/Electronic Album, making her the first female Asian American producer to receive a nomination in that category. The album was also a deeply personal one. In late 2015, Lee was diagnosed with Moyamoya disease, a rare progressive vascular disorder in which the arteries that send blood to the brain are blocked or become narrowed. She underwent two brain surgeries and, during recovery, lost her ability to speak and hear, including music. She eventually regained both and went on to record Lune Rouge — widely regarded as some of her most significant work.

What to Expect from the TOKiMONSTA Artist Series Class
The format pairs a live DJ set performed by TOKiMONSTA with real-time coaching from Emma Lovewell. Unlike a standard cycling class built around a pre-set playlist, the music is performed for the session — which means it can build, shift, and breathe in ways that a static library cannot.
TOKiMONSTA’s production style suits the format well. Her work is rhythmically considered and melodically layered, built for sustained movement without sacrificing texture or variety over 30 minutes. Members who have taken Live DJ Rides before know the difference in energy that a live performance brings; those new to the format have a strong entry point here.
Emma Lovewell is a well-matched instructor for this kind of class. She came to Peloton with a background spanning professional dance, personal training, and years of DJing — a combination that gives her a genuine feel for how music and movement interact. That foundation shows clearly in how she coaches to rhythm and structures a class around music rather than alongside it.
She has shown a real talent for pairing high-energy performance with the kind of coaching that keeps riders focused. Bringing TOKiMONSTA into that space is a strong combination. TOKiMONSTA’s productions carry both rhythmic drive and melodic depth, which tends to translate well to a structured cycling workout where riders need consistent momentum without everything sounding the same for 30 minutes.
This also fits naturally alongside other creative live DJ ride opportunities on Peloton. Fans of the format may also want to check out Peloton’s first-ever live DJ ride with Ben Alldis, in partnership with Defected Records, and Emma has also led a memorable live DJ class with DJ John Michael, which featured a special Debbie Gibson remix.

The TOKiMONSTA Artist Series Class is a Feature of Asian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month
Peloton has cross listed this class in their weekly promotions as both a Live DJ/Artist Series class as well as an APIHM class. In a week with two unique standalone music-first classes, this gives more weight to the TOKiMONSTA Artist Series experience.
