A Tread+ safety recall in May, following a tragic incident involving a child, put Peloton in crisis mode and forced a very public reckoning. By December, the stock that had soared past $170 was in freefall — and a fictional character dying on a Peloton Bike in a streaming reboot made headlines that no PR team could have planned for. It was the year the momentum reversed.
