Space, Strength, and Setting Boundaries Fill This Fortnight’s Peloton Instructor Podcast Appearances

Between August 14 and August 28, Peloton instructors appeared across a wide range of shows. Jess Sims opened up about grief and boundaries on Hurdle with Emily Abbate, Kirra Michel spent two parts unpacking what it means to be visible without ever planning for the spotlight, and Robin Arzón landed an interview 250 miles above Earth. Here’s the full rundown, sourced and ready for your playlist.

Featured Peloton Instructor Podcast Appearances

Jess Sims on Hurdle with Emily Abbate

“At What Cost: Jess Sims on Setting Boundaries, Injury Lessons & Embracing Imperfection” | August 18 | Apple Podcasts, Spotify

Jess sat down with her good friend Emily Abbate for one of those conversations that goes deeper than most. She’s heading into her fifth year with ESPN now, including guest-hosting College GameDay, and she’s quick to point out she’s not “the new girl” anymore, more like part of a travelling circus that’s become family. There’s real vulnerability here too, as Jess talks through losing her father, working back from a torn meniscus, and trading toxic positivity for something more honest: neutral self-talk.

Right now, she says, her heart is full, though she’s the first to admit that can shift week to week.

Kirra Michel on Unmasked — a Beyond Worthy Podcast

Parts 1 & 2 | August 18 & August 21 | Apple Podcasts, Amazon Music

Kirra and host Rachel Peck spent two full episodes on something a lot of people think about but rarely say out loud: who you are once you strip away the labels. Part 1 finds Kirra working through the process of “unbecoming,” letting go of identities like athlete, dancer, gymnast, and architect to get back to something more essential.

Part 2 goes further still. Kirra never set out to teach yoga, let alone in front of thousands of people, and she’s candid about what that actually feels like: the nerves, the criticism, the sensitivity she used to see as a weakness and now calls a superpower. It’s a genuinely lovely listen, and Kirra comes across warmly throughout.

Kirsten Ferguson on May She Reign

“Kirsten Ferguson: Resilience, Reinvention & the Power of Showing Up” | August 15 | YouTube

Farida Raafat, founder of DALYA NYC, gave Kirsten the space to tell her story properly: the fertility journey, motherhood, a divorce, hip surgery, and the running that eventually carried her to Peloton. None of it is glossed over.

What stays with you is how she talks about starting over, again and again, and the small rituals that keep her steady. She’s already thinking about what she wants her daughters to take from all of it.

Ally Love on Nice Talk

“Peloton Instructor Ally Love on How to Build an ‘Energy Empire’” | August 13 | YouTube

Nikki Ogunnaike, Editor in Chief of Marie Claire, got Ally talking well past the bike, into her work with the Today Show and JPMorganChase’s Athlete Council, and she brings the same calm, grounded confidence to all of it that she brings to a class. Energy as currency, guiding young athletes through their financial journey, how she gets dressed for camera, it’s all in here.

It’s a genuinely inspiring listen. Ally comes across as smart and completely herself throughout, right down to breaking down the anatomy of a perfect workout playlist.

Tunde Oyeneyin on Making Space with Hoda Kotb

“Nike Athlete and Peloton Instructor Tunde Oyeneyin on Surviving Loss and Finding Resilience” | August 19 | YouTube (TODAY)

Hoda Kotb has a way of getting people to open up, and Tunde does exactly that, tracing her path from childhood bullying and deep self-doubt to losing her father, brother, and mother, and how, somewhere in all of it, she found a vision for her future on a bike.

What makes this one worth your time isn’t just the story, it’s the warmth between the two of them. It’s moving, but genuinely fun too, and it ends somewhere hopeful: learning to love the person looking back at you in the mirror.

Matty Maggiacomo on Brain Glitter

“Find What Moves You ft. Matty Maggiacomo” (S01:E06) | August 26 | Spotify, Apple Podcasts

Hosts Sam Griffin and Bethany Hall got Matty talking about “Trojan-horsing” your way into a workout you’ll actually look forward to, and why working with your body beats fighting it every time. He also traces his own story back to Rhode Island, where a queer theater kid who hated gym class eventually found his way to the front of the room, by way of comedy, costumes, and a whole lot of show tunes.

Aditi Shah on Bollywood to Hollywood

Hosted by Kamal Khan | August 22 | iHeartRadio (Rukus Avenue Radio)

Kamal Khan got Aditi talking creativity, identity, and what it’s meant to move from modeling and acting into voiceover work, the kind of insight that’s made her a go-to voice for outlets like Good Morning America, Vogue, and The New York Times.

Quick Hits

Aditi Shah (@diti22), Spotify’s Workouts with Peloton — New 20-minute Pilates class available for Premium users in select markets, featuring music from Zara Larsson.

Robin Arzón, Project Swagger, “I Thought I Was Hitting My Macros. Apparently I Was Starving My Muscles.” August 18. Robin Arzón, Project Swagger, “Deadlifting in Orbit: Astronaut Jessica Meir on Strength, Awe, & Motherhood” August 25. Somewhere 250 miles above Earth, NASA astronaut Dr. Jessica Meir picked up the phone to talk deadlifts, and Project Swagger landed what it’s calling the first interview a Vox Media show has ever recorded from space. The two dig into what strength training actually looks like in microgravity, and how Meir stays close to her three-year-old daughter from the International Space Station. Watch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fak_mhltLgc

Robin Arzón, Project Swagger — Project Swagger has hit the streets of NYC, with billboards popping up around Penn Plaza. Robin couldn’t resist sharing the moment herself. Full episodes are also now streaming on Spotify.

Rebecca Kennedy, Weddings-ish with Jove — Rebecca’s Italy wedding anniversary just passed, and it’s a good excuse to revisit her Weddings-ish episode about marrying fellow Peloton instructor Andy Speer, not once but twice. It’s the show’s most-listened-to episode ever. Watch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=13jRkRyLmo0

Bradley Rose, Relatable with The Roses, Episode 61: “Completely Unreasonable Reasons We Judge People” August 19. Bradley and Sophia played “People We Irrationally Don’t Trust,” inspired by Hugh Grant’s confession that people with backpacks annoy him.
