International Pilates Day 2026

Peloton Pilates Celebrates International Pilates Day 2026

Peloton Pilates Has Come a Long Way!

From a handful of on-demand classes in 2020 to its own dedicated tab and a growing roster of instructors, Peloton Pilates is celebrating International Pilates Day 2026 with a lot more to show for itself.

What Is International Pilates Day?

International Pilates Day falls on the first Saturday of May each year, making it May 2, 2026. The annual observance was created to celebrate the discipline Joseph Pilates developed in the early 20th century, originally called Contrology, and to encourage people everywhere to get on the mat. Studios, platforms, and individual instructors around the world mark the occasion with special classes, events, and content.

For Peloton members, International Pilates Day arrives at a moment when Peloton Pilates has more depth, more instructors, and more visibility on the platform than at any point in its history. That did not happen overnight.

Peloton Pilates launches

Where Peloton Pilates Began

When Peloton launched its Pilates offerings in 2020, a small group of instructors brought the discipline to the platform. At launch, Pilates classes were housed within the Strength modality, and the initial teaching group included Hannah Corbin, Emma Lovewell, Kristin McGee, Aditi Shah, Sam Yo, and even Kendall Toole (no longer with Peloton). There were 20 classes available in the on-demand library when the modality first went live.

The early version of Peloton Pilates was deliberately low-key. Classes were short, equipment-free, and tucked inside the Strength filter alongside everything from upper-body workouts to full-body conditioning.

The Instructor Roster Grows

For a few years, Peloton Pilates was anchored by a consistent core group (after oddly some of the instructors in the initial launch did not stay on with this discipline… and we are all still hoping Sam Yo comes back to it!). Aditi Shah and Anna Greenberg became the primary active Pilates instructors, joined by Kristin McGee, who brought props into the Peloton Pilates format and built the platform’s beginner program before departing Peloton in 2024.

The modality’s scope began to widen in 2023. Starting that June, Peloton added recurring live Pilates classes to the schedule, running Monday through Friday at 9:30 AM ET, giving members consistent access to live sessions for the first time. Though temporary in the schedule, that shift signaled that Pilates was no longer an experiment.

Anna Greenberg also expanded the format with Yoga Plus Pilates classes, blending the two disciplines into a hybrid format that has built a dedicated following of members (and other additional instructors teaching it).

The German-speaking instructor team also began claiming space on the Pilates mat. Mila Lazar began teaching German-language Pilates classes, building a library that has continued to grow. In August 2024, Irene Kaymer (no longer with Peloton) joined the Pilates teaching roster.

Then came a significant addition on the English-language side. In September 2024, Rebecca Kennedy officially rejoined the Peloton Pilates team, three years after her earlier appearances in the 2020-2021 library. That announcement brought one of the platform’s most versatile instructors fully back to the mat. Emma Lovewell followed. After teaching several classes in 2020 and 2021, Emma stepped away from Pilates instruction for several years before Peloton officially announced her return to the modality in 2025.

The newest additions to the Peloton Pilates roster arrived at the end of 2025 and into 2026. Johanna Ricouz was announced as a new Peloton instructor during the Turkey Burn Ride in November 2025, and she arrived with more than a decade of experience building her own methodology, which she calls “The Pilates Plug:” a name intended to evoke being fully plugged in to both the community and the practice. Read the full profile of Johanna and The Pilates Plug for a deeper look at what she brings to the platform.

Greta Dopp, Peloton’s first Canadian instructor, joined at the same time and added Pilates to her teaching schedule as well. She expanded into Pilates in January 2026, alongside Johanna, giving the platform two new Pilates voices in the same month.

Peloton Pilates Gets Its Own Home

The platform changes that accompanied this instructor growth matter as much as the roster expansion itself.

Pilates recently earned its own dedicated tab in the modality options on the Peloton platform, making it easier for members to find and filter classes specific to their interests. Before that update, Pilates classes lived inside the Strength library, accessible only through a sub-filter. The new standalone tab puts Peloton Pilates on equal footing with cycling, running, and other top-level modalities — something members who have been practicing since 2020 will appreciate.

The Peloton Pilates Challenge has also been integrated into the platform’s monthly challenge system, meaning every Pilates class automatically counts toward monthly achievements without any additional sign-up required. That shift makes it easier to build a consistent practice and track progress alongside other modalities.

The combination of a dedicated filter and a standing challenge structure represents a clear statement from Peloton: Pilates is a permanent, primary part of what the platform offers.

Peloton Pilates with Johanna

International Pilates Day 2026 on Peloton

This week’s Peloton schedule makes the occasion easy to mark. Johanna Ricouz marks International Pilates Day with a 20-minute R&B Pilates class on Saturday, May 2. Our This Week at Peloton column notes that Peloton is spotlighting Johanna’s class as a standout pick for the week, and if you have not taken one of her sessions yet, International Pilates Day is a natural entry point.

Johanna’s Pilates approach is grounded in both classical and contemporary technique. She holds certifications across classical, contemporary, and Reformer methods, and her teaching blends the structure of classical Contrology with the adaptability of modern exercise science. The result is a class that feels technically grounded but accessible, with her signature hip-hop playlists adding an energy that sets her sessions apart from more traditional mat formats.

Hidden Gems: Classes Worth Taking Today

If International Pilates Day has you thinking about building or refreshing your Peloton Pilates practice, the library has a strong range to choose from across instructors and formats. From Aditi Shah’s precise, methodical approach to Johanna’s high-energy R&B sessions, there is enough variety in the Pilates tab to suit any preference or experience level.

We recently wrote about the entire Peloton Pilates Collection as a Hidden Gem. For more about getting started with the classes, check out this article.

The Mat Keeps Expanding

Five years into its existence on the Peloton platform, Peloton Pilates looks almost nothing like it did at launch. What began as 20 on-demand classes tucked inside the Strength library has grown into a modality with its own tab, its own monthly challenge, recurring live classes, and a roster that now spans multiple countries and teaching styles.

International Pilates Day 2026 is a good moment to take stock of how far Peloton Pilates has come, and to get on the mat.
