Peloton Instructor Mila Lazar Opens Up on Turning 50 Powerfully
Peloton Instructor Mila Lazar Marks 50 With New Mindset
The German-born Peloton Cycling, Strength, and Pilates instructor shares why she now trains for strength, not size, as she steps into her fifties.

Peloton instructor Mila Lazar has just turned 50, and she’s using her Instagram platform to talk openly about what that milestone actually looks like in her own body. In a “get to know me” carousel posted September 2, the Peloton Cycling, Strength, and Pilates instructor (re) introduced herself to new followers while sharing a more personal update: menopause has changed how she trains, and she wants her community to know it.

The post walks through Mila’s background first. She’s spent more than 30 years in fitness, built on an earlier career as a professional dancer that took her through Germany, the Netherlands, and the United States before she landed at Peloton Studios London. That range shows up in the classes she teaches today, spanning cycling, strength, and Pilates, all rooted in the same movement philosophy she highlights in the post: “You don’t need to train more. You need to keep moving well.”
Peloton Instructor Mila Lazar Reflects on Strength and Menopause
The more personal thread running through the carousel is Mila’s own experience with menopause. She lists the symptoms plainly: less energy, less strength, feeling sluggish (and more!). Rather than treating those changes as something to push through quietly, she describes a deliberate shift in her training, leaning harder into strength work and lifting weights.
“I’m not training to be smaller,” she writes. “I’m training to be stronger, more capable and resilient.” She frames the goal in blunt terms: muscle matters, strength matters, and it’s never too late to start. It’s a message she posted in both English and German, reflecting the bilingual audience she’s built since joining Peloton.
That framing lines up with the medical consensus on training through menopause. Falling estrogen levels during this stage accelerate muscle and bone loss, and resistance training is widely considered the most effective non-drug tool for slowing that decline, according to Mayo Clinic Center for Women’s Health physician Dr. Juliana Kling.
A Message That Echoes Across Peloton’s Roster
Peloton instructor Mila Lazar’s post lands at a moment when several Peloton instructors have been speaking up about their own experiences with perimenopause and menopause. Christine D’Ercole has been candid about her own symptoms and the care she sought out. Rebecca Kennedy‘s expertise on the topic recently earned her a mention in People magazine, and Susie Chan has anchored a full menopause-focused event at Peloton Studios London. Peloton’s broader push into this space, including its strength-training programming for menopause and perimenopause, has given instructors more room to talk about it in their own words.
The Clip Out has followed this shift for a while now, and Mila’s post is a good example of why it matters. She’s not alone in changing her approach to fitness in her fifties, but she is one of the more visible instructors to say so directly.
For members who’ve followed Mila since her early days, this post is a reminder that her instructing has always tracked with her own life. At 50, she’s simply narrating that shift out loud. We’re listening! If you’re looking to shake up your perimenopause or menopause strength training, give Mila a try!
