The Peloton Great Outdoor Challenge Opens July 1

The Peloton Great Outdoor Challenge is open to join!
This latest standalone challenge runs from July 1 through August 31, 2026, and tracks any outdoor walk or run class completed on any device. More than 12,600 members have already joined as of this writing, a sign that Peloton’s outdoor walking and running library continues to draw steady engagement heading into the peak of summer. Head over to Community / Challenges / Upcoming to get ready!

How the Badge Tiers Work
The Peloton Great Outdoor Challenge uses the same three-tier badge structure Peloton has applied to past mileage and day-count challenges. Members earn:
- Bronze for completing 10 outdoor walk or run days
- Silver for completing 15 outdoor walk or run days
- Gold for completing 25 outdoor walk or run days
Unlike Peloton’s marathon-distance badge challenges, which count miles, this one counts days. A member only needs to log a qualifying outdoor walk or run on a given day for it to count toward their tier, regardless of distance or pace.
The Great Outdoor Challenge uses a three-tier structure rather than the four-tier Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Iron format Peloton introduced for its monthly activity challenges earlier this year. That Iron tier, which requires just 5 days of activity, is not available as an option in the Great Outdoor Challenge.
Part of a Broader Outdoor Push
The timing lines up with a pattern Peloton has leaned into in recent summers: pulling members away from their hardware without pulling them away from the platform. Notably, Kirsten Ferguson’s Intention Setting Walks returned for a third straight year with an outdoor-filmed installment, part of a Walking category that has grown to 25 classes under her direction alone. Check out our coverage of these here.
That same instinct shaped Peloton’s 100 Days of Summer Streak in 2025, which closed out with more than 45,000 members completing the full run (and then they did it again on January 1!). The Great Outdoor Challenge follows that same logic: give members a structured reason to stay connected to Peloton’s tracking and badge system while spending more time outside.

How to Move Through August with the Peloton Great Outdoors Challenge
Because the Peloton Great Outdoor Challenge tracks any outdoor walk or run, members are likely not limited to Peloton-branded audio classes. A logged outdoor session on the Peloton app, using the “Track an Activity” feature, should count toward the day total, giving members flexibility in how they log progress through the two-month window. But of course, if you want to be sure your work gets counted, check out the wide variety of content on the Outdoor class filter, it’s waiting for you! And as Peloton’s IG suggests, we may be seeing some new classes drop to help us all stay motivated throughout this challenge too. Maybe even combine some outdoor activities with Rebecca’s new HiLit+ Program starting soon!
There are a lot of ways to make the Peloton Great Outdoors Challenge work for you. What’s your game plan?
