120-Min Power Zone Endurance Ride Returns

Matt Wilpers Returns for a 120-Minute Power Zone Endurance Ride

What Started as a Birthday Pitch Is Now a Peloton Tradition

Matt Wilpers is bringing back the 120-minute Power Zone Endurance Ride, and this one marks a genuine milestone. Scheduled for Saturday, June 27 at 8:00 AM ET/ 5:00 AM PT, this will be his 6th class of this format on the Peloton platform — a format he had to pitch to Peloton himself before the very first one aired.

That first class went live on October 28, 2023. At the time, a 120-minute cycling class was uncharted territory for Peloton. Matt made the case, members showed up, and the format proved itself. Nearly three years later, it is one of the most anticipated long-format events on the platform.

How the 120-Minute Power Zone Endurance Ride Began

The origin story matters here. Matt did not simply get assigned a longer class. He pushed for it. When The Clip Out first reported on the class in September 2023, it was clear this was something Matt had been working toward, with October 28 tied to his birthday on October 24. He wanted to mark the occasion with something that reflected how he trains and how he believes Power Zone Endurance cycling should be experienced — at full length, without shortcuts.

Members came through. The leaderboard filled up. And Peloton took notice.

The Christian Vande Velde Connection

Two of Matt’s six 120-minute Power Zone Endurance Ride classes have featured pro cycling legend Christian Vande Velde as a co-instructor. Those team-up rides have taken on a personality all their own. Christian’s coaching style and sense of humor alongside Matt’s precision-focused approach creates a dynamic that keeps riders entertained for the full two hours. The most recent collaboration was the 2026 Valentine’s Day Ride, which Christian teased on Instagram with a promise of “two hours of riding and ribbing.”

The solo classes and the co-instructor classes serve different purposes for members. The team-up rides tend to draw massive leaderboard numbers and lean into camaraderie. The solo 120-minute Power Zone Endurance Ride format is where serious Power Zone Endurance cycling members come to lock in.

What to Know Before June 27

The class is listed as a live 120-minute Power Zone Endurance Ride in the cycling category. If you have not taken a recent FTP test, now is a good time. Power Zone training is built around your personal Functional Threshold Power score, and your zones are only as accurate as your most recent test. Riding two hours at the wrong zones defeats the purpose.

Fueling is also worth planning in advance. Two hours of sustained Power Zone Endurance cycling is a long effort. Matt has been known to advocate for real nutrition during efforts like this and not just water. Plan accordingly before you clip in on Saturday morning.

The class airs live at 8:00 AM ET/ 5:00 AM PT on June 27 and will be available on demand after it wraps. Matt often posts stories on his Instagram before class starts, so that is a good place to check in on the morning of. Whether you take it live or save it for later, the 120-minute Power Zone Endurance Ride will be on the Peloton platform and worth your Saturday morning.

Are you planning to take this one live, or will you be saving it for later?
