Mariana Fernandez ABC News Tips Keep Runners Strong in 2026

The Peloton instructor brought strength, mobility, and recovery advice for runners to ABC News Live Weekend

Mariana Fernandez ABC News segment with Gio Benitez on the Build Strength and Mobility set

The Mariana Fernandez ABC News segment made a case Peloton members hear often: recovery is not something to save for after a workout. Fernandez joined ABC News Live Weekend for a segment titled “Build Strength & Mobility,” which ABC News posted on October 18, 2026.

Alongside ABC News’ Gio Benitez, the Peloton instructor explained how runners can build recovery into every stage of training, then walked viewers through simple movements to get started. Members can watch the full Mariana Fernandez ABC News segment on the ABC News website.

How the Mariana Fernandez ABC News Segment Reframed Recovery

Benitez opened with the idea that recovery should be part of the workout rather than something that happens after it, and he asked Fernandez to explain what that means.

Fernandez said recovery is as important as the workout itself, and it begins with the warm-up. Starting with mobility prepares the body, and how you activate specific muscles while you train carries directly into what comes next.

The post-workout piece, she explained, is about how you downregulate and how you care for the muscles and joints you just worked. In the Mariana Fernandez ABC News framing, recovery runs from the first warm-up move to the final stretch.

Peloton Run and Flow Puts That Idea Into Practice

Benitez then highlighted Peloton Run and Flow, Fernandez’s series that combines running and run prep with yoga.

Fernandez said the series uses yoga to activate the muscles, with the goal of keeping runners injury free and mobile. Each class engages the muscles first, then moves into the run. Afterward, the class guides members off the Tread to take their shoes off, plant their feet firmly into the ground, and move into deeper flexibility and mobility work.

Peloton Run and Flow launched June 5 as a four-class series of 45-minute Tread Bootcamp classes, with Class 4 closing out the series on July 17. The full set lives in the Run+Flow Collection in the Peloton App, and Peloton brought the format off the Tread this summer with a July 29 community event at Peloton Studios New York.

Fernandez also made the point that yoga doesn’t have to be intimidating. Runners can use it as a strength builder and as a way to engage flexibility.

The Mariana Fernandez ABC News Moves for Runners

The Mariana Fernandez ABC News demonstration kept things simple. Much of the work, she said, is about letting go of tension.

• Strong stance: She starts in a strong, grounded stance.

• Shake out: From there, she shakes out to release tension.

• Side-to-side stretch: A deep stretch from side to side brings space into the ribcage and lengthens the spine.

She described these as simple movements most people will recognize, but ones that carry real importance. She compared the practice to having a dialogue with your body, checking in from head to toe.

Recovery and Mobility Anchor the Mariana Fernandez ABC News Message

Fernandez ABC News preview on recovery and mobility in New York City

Ahead of the Mariana Fernandez ABC News taping, she shared Instagram Stories while walking through New York City, telling followers her day was about training and working and stressing the importance of recovery and mobility. After the segment, she posted a photo with Benitez on set and thanked him in Spanish, writing “Gracias por tanto” with a green heart.

That message, central to the Mariana Fernandez ABC News appearance, reflects the range she brings across Peloton. Fernandez teaches Tread, yoga, and meditation classes, and in August Peloton released her first full Breathwrk program, the seven-day Wake Up With Energy series. Her yoga library also includes runner-focused classes such as 20 min Focus Flow: For Runners.

The Mariana Fernandez ABC News segment gives members a clear way to rethink their training week: warm up with mobility, work with intention, and treat the cooldown as part of the workout. Peloton Run and Flow builds all three into a single 45-minute class.
