From Boxtown to Athletic Success

Marcel Dinkins Peloton’s journey began in Memphis as the eldest of four children. Raised shy and quiet, she discovered her love for sports in seventh grade when a coach encouraged her to try basketball. She quickly excelled, winning the Miss Hustle trophy and later being named Memphis Scholastic Athlete of the Year. She also competed in track and field, volleyball, and more. These were athletic experiences that laid the foundation for her resilience and drive.

Discipline, Growth, and Finding Fitness

As a first-generation college student, Marcel faced academic challenges but found structure and purpose in the National Guard, eventually rising to student First Sergeant during AIT. She also joined Army ROTC, ran cross country, stayed active in multiple organizations, and graduated with honors.

Moving to New York City, she entered the fashion industry but realized her true passion was fitness. She earned personal training and group-fitness certifications and began coaching. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she posted free daily Instagram workouts, which led to a Peloton opportunity.

A Fitness Career Fueled by Passion

After catching the attention of a Peloton talent scout, she auditioned and, six months later, became a Peloton Tread instructor. She joined Peloton as one of three new Tread instructors, quickly gaining a devoted following for her music-driven workouts and inspiring energy.

Marcel’s classes are known to be tough, often incorporating hills and challenging pacing. She is famous for her “Sample Sunday Runs,” where she blends old-school and new-school music mixes, giving members a dynamic and energizing experience. She often begins classes by declaring herself the “designated hype person” and affectionately refers to her Peloton community as “my loves,” creating an inclusive and motivating environment.

Expanding Her Platform

Beyond the Tread, Marcel Dinkins Peloton is a New York Times bestselling author, global Nike athlete, motivational speaker, and podcast host of Take the Hill. She consistently focuses on resilience, mental health, and the connection between fitness and emotional healing. To mark her two-year Peloton anniversary, she shared her ten favorite classes, showing the depth of her commitment to Peloton members worldwide.
