This and That: Week of August 3

August has arrived, and so has our weekly installment of This and That!  Certainly there is lots of excitement going on this week in sports of all kinds, but Peloton as always has its own announcements and fun to share.  Enjoy five of this week’s newsworthy tidbits that you may have missed in August 3’s This and That!

Logan featured The Met Golfer magazine

Pick up a copy of the most recent issue of The Met Golfer, a golf magazine for the New York City metropolitan area, and you’ll find none other than Peloton’s Logan Aldridge gracing the cover.  The feature article discusses adaptive golf and Logan candidly talks through his love for golf, how his injury set him back, and getting back into the sport.  Logan remarks that his goal would be to be in the U.S. Adaptive open, and knowing his perseverance and ability to overcome life’s obstacles, we’ll be cheering him on every step of the way.

Instructor Games 2024 Have Begun

If you perused Peloton’s Instagram account this week, you may have caught the first of three installments of Instructor Games – where Matt Wilpers, Kirsten Ferguson, and Alex Karwoski complete in three events.  Up first is power walking on the Tread for a minute, fastest time wins.  Matt, who couldn’t even tell if he was walking or running, took the silver, Kirsten the bronze, and Alex, walking a whopping 0.13 miles in one minute took home gold.  We can’t wait for the next two events: rowing and cycling.  These three bring a perfect mix of athleticism and humor to the Instructor Games and we look forward to the next event!

Congrats to Marcel on his Peloversary

Marcel Maurer, German-speaking strength and Tread favorite, took to Instagram this week to celebrate his 3 year Peloversary and express his gratitude to his entire support team including producers, talent team, his boss, and other behind-the-scenes team members.  His announcement was a nice reminder that while we as members enjoy content, there is so much that goes into each live and on demand class on the back end.  Let us join Marcel in thanking everyone who has a hand in producing the classes we all love so much – we appreciate you – and congrats on three years to Marcel, we look forward to many more!

Wellworthy Features Mariana

Mariana Fernandez was featured this week in an article in Wellworthy, a health and fitness brand.  The new company specializes in simplifying health and wellness, and that is exactly what Mariana’s articles does.  Focusing on the beginner basics of starting yoga, Mariana discusses patience, breath work, and everyone’s favorite part of class – shavasana.  Yoga can be intimidating to some, especially at the beginner level, and Mariana’s breakdown hopefully gives those on the fence the confidence to give it a try!

Charlotte’s Museum of Wins

Dr. Charlotte Weidenbach joined the Instagram trend titled Museum of Wins, where she shared five of her major wins in life – not the tiny things in her life but rather five of the life-altering, and often risky, challenges that she faced and overcame.  The discusses heading to medical school as well as facing the challenges of being active on social media, among other things.  Thank you, Charlotte, for sharing your vulnerability and relatability with us and perhaps challenging us to step outside the box and take a chance on something ourselves!

That wraps up This and That for the week of August 3, but we’ll see you next week for the next installment: same time, same place!
