The Prodigy Artist Series Ignites Peloton With Five New Classes

The Prodigy Artist Series ignites Peloton with five new classes dropping Friday, June 26, and the lineup is as bold as the band themselves.
Peloton is billing this one as a celebration of “the forever Firestarters,” and that framing makes sense. The Prodigy have spent more than three decades refusing to be categorized, blending rave, punk, electronic, and breakbeat into something entirely their own. That kind of relentless, high-output energy translates well to a workout.

Who Are The Prodigy?
If you grew up in the 1990s, The Prodigy were impossible to ignore. Formed in Braintree, Essex (England) in 1990 by producer and songwriter Liam Howlett, the band came up through the UK underground rave scene before breaking into the mainstream in a way that very few electronic acts had managed before them.
Their 1997 album “The Fat of the Land” reached number one in 16 countries. Singles like “Firestarter” and “Breathe” became cultural touchstones, and the band went on to sell an estimated 25 million records worldwide across seven consecutive UK number one albums. They were also the first electronic group to top the album charts in the United States, a milestone that underlines just how far their reach extended beyond the UK rave scene where they started.
Howlett has always described their style as electronic punk, and that label fits. The Prodigy never sounded like background music. They sounded like something happening right now, at full volume.
Keith Flint, the band’s iconic frontman who passed away in 2019, brought a raw stage presence that matched the ferocity of the music. Vocalist and MC Maxim continues to be part of the group alongside Howlett, and the band has confirmed a new album is planned for 2026, meaning their story is still very much being written.
Three Things Worth Knowing About The Prodigy
- The band name came from Liam Howlett’s Moog Prodigy synthesizer. He wrote it on a demo tape he gave to Keith Flint, and the name stuck from there.
- Howlett studied classical piano for eight years but never learned to read sheet music. He built one of the most distinctive sounds in electronic music entirely by ear.
- When The Prodigy headlined Glastonbury in 1997, they became the first dance act ever to top the festival’s main stage bill.
Why These Classes Are Worth Your Time
The Prodigy is a big favorite among instructors for programming already, especially in Power Zone rides. In fact, they are in nearly 250 classes already! More things to know, if you don’t already love them:
- The music was built for effort. The Prodigy’s catalog is not subtle. It is designed to push you, and that makes it genuinely useful in a workout setting rather than just a novelty.
- The class variety covers a wide range of members. Strength, running, and cycling are all represented, so this series is not just for one type of Peloton member.
- Artist Series picks like this one are uncommon. Pop and hip-hop dominate most Artist Series lineups. A band sitting at the crossroads of electronic music and punk attitude is a different experience entirely, and worth showing up for.
