Peloton Preventative Health Walk Covers 4 Powerful Topics
Kirsten Ferguson and Northwestern Medicine transplant surgeon Dr. Dinee Simpson team up for an easy-pace, audio-only walk on prevention, recovery, and community

The Peloton Preventative Health Walk is now on demand, pairing Kirsten Ferguson with Dr. Dinee Simpson, a transplant surgeon at Northwestern Medicine. The 30-minute, audio-only outdoor walk was released Wednesday, October 14 at 12 AM ET (5 AM BST). It is the first class in Peloton’s new partnership with Northwestern Medicine.
The entire class stays at an easy pace. That keeps the focus on the conversation, as Kirsten and Dr. Simpson talk through prevention, recovery, and everything in between.
Inside the Peloton Preventative Health Walk
Peloton describes the partnership as conversation-driven outdoor walks that blend movement with expert medical insight from Northwestern physicians. Kirsten’s class is built in four sections.
Prehab and Rehab
The Peloton Preventative Health Walk opens with prehab and rehab. Kirsten and Dr. Simpson cover how walking and movement can help with prevention, then explain why walking is so important in recovery.
Kirsten speaks from experience. She came back from hip surgery to run the TCS New York City Marathon and later set a personal record at the NYC Half Marathon.
Community and Support
The second section focuses on the value of having a community and support system. The conversation also turns to the Peloton community and how important it was to members during Covid.
Navigating the Pause Season
Section three centers on a phrase Kirsten uses for her own recovery time: the pause season. In the Peloton Preventative Health Walk, she and Dr. Simpson note that life, family, work, and health can all lead to one. Naming it gives members a way to talk about time away from their usual routine.
Rapid Fire Questions
The class wraps with a rapid fire round covering these topics.
• Weighted vests • Creatine • Electrolytes • Transplant-specific questions, such as how to tell if you have kidney disease
The transplant questions fall squarely in Dr. Simpson’s area of expertise. At Northwestern Medicine, her clinical focus includes liver and kidney transplantation. She is also the founding director of the Northwestern Medicine African American Transplant Access Program.
Who the Peloton Preventative Health Walk Is For
Because it never leaves an easy pace, the Peloton Preventative Health Walk works for nearly any member. It fits a recovery day between Strength, Row, or Pilates classes, and it suits members easing back after time away. The class is listed in the Outdoor category, so you can take it on a neighborhood loop, a trail, or a lunch break walk. Prefer to stay inside? It works just as well on the Tread.
Where It Lives in the Health Centered Collection
Kirsten’s class sits in Health Centered, a Cross Training collection of 19 classes. Peloton describes it as a home for conversations with medical advisors about incorporating movement for lifestyle goals and chronic conditions.

The 19 classes are grouped by health focus, with multiple classes in each category. The Peloton Preventative Health Walk joins the Preventative Health category, while Metabolic Health and Cardio Health include earlier walks such as Matt Wilpers’ 30 min Metabolic Health Walk and 30 min Heart Health Walk.
Next Up in the Northwestern Medicine Series
The partnership continues November 4 with a 30 min Men’s Health Walk led by Adrian Williams and Dr. Schaeffer. The Clip Out will cover that class in full when it arrives.
For now, the Peloton Preventative Health Walk sets the tone for the series: an easy walk, a physician in your ear, and practical talk about prevention, recovery, and the pause seasons that come with real life.
