Peloton MTV Run Is a Hidden Gem You Missed
A Quiet Companion to Emma Lovewell’s MTV Tribute Ride

Susie Chan’s Peloton MTV Run has been sitting in Peloton’s library since February 7, well before Emma Lovewell’s MTV tribute ride made headlines this month. While Peloton members were busy talking about Lovewell’s ride, Chan’s own MTV run quietly aged into a hidden gem, and resurfacing it now alongside Lovewell’s ride makes for a fitting pair worth a second look.
Peloton MTV Run Flew Under the Radar
Chan’s 30 minute Pop Run landed on Peloton’s schedule at 9 a.m. ET/ 6am PT, built around a playlist she described as a personal tribute rather than a themed shuffle. She told the class she grew up glued to MTV as a teenager after the channel launched in 1981, spending, in her words, hours and hours consuming the network before the videos ever got old. That backstory is easy to miss on a running class, since most members scan a class card for pace and length rather than the story behind the playlist, which may be exactly why this Peloton MTV Run stayed under the radar while Emma Lovewell’s MTV ride pulled more attention.

Peloton MTV Run Built Around Eight Iconic Videos
The playlist behind this Peloton MTV Run reads like a syllabus of the format’s biggest moments. The Buggles’ Video Killed the Radio Star, Peter Gabriel’s Sledgehammer, Madonna’s Material Girl, Robert Palmer’s Addicted to Love, Janet Jackson’s Rhythm Nation, Beastie Boys’ Sabotage, Nirvana’s Smells Like Teen Spirit, and Fatboy Slim’s Weapon of Choice all made the set list. Whenever we hear these songs, Chan told the class, we think about the video, framing the playlist as a tribute to an era when music and television were inseparable.
The timing carries extra weight this year, and it was not limited to the UK. MTV’s parent company pulled its dedicated 24-hour music channels, including MTV Music, MTV 80s, MTV 90s, Club MTV, and MTV Live, across the UK, Ireland, France, Germany, Austria, Poland, Hungary, Australia, and Brazil at the end of 2025, according to IBTimes UK. Chan referenced the closures directly in class, calling the moment a loss she felt personally as someone who grew up watching those channels in the UK.
Take the Peloton MTV Run on the Tread, Outdoors, or at a Walk
This class was built as a Pop Run, a format Peloton offers on the Tread with pace targets guiding the effort, and through the app for members who want to take it outdoors instead. Runners who prefer the treadmill can follow Chan’s pace targets for the full 30 minutes, while members who want fresh air can queue the same class through Peloton’s outdoor workout option and follow along by audio alone. Walkers are welcome too, adjusting the target pace to fit their own day, which is part of why this Peloton MTV Run works as well as a rediscovered hidden gem as it did on release day.
Paired with Lovewell’s ride, the two classes give members a running and cycling option built around the same farewell, and either one (or both) is worth queuing up whether the goal is nostalgia, a Tread session, or a run outdoors.
