Peloton Hackathon 2026 Crowns Arcade as Top Hack
Peloton Hackathon 2026 Reveals 57 Projects, AI Focus
The Peloton Hackathon 2026 produced 57 completed projects, and hardware built with artificial intelligence took the top results. Peloton shared the outcome in a September 15 blog and LinkedIn recap, naming Peloton Arcade, created by Ian Andersen, as the first-place project.
It was the company’s ninth Hackathon and the fifth consecutive year in a week-long format. The Peloton Hackathon 2026 drew more than 250 hackers, up from 220 hackers and 49 projects in the 2025 edition, which The Clip Out covered on episode 421 of the podcast last year.
Peloton Arcade Wins the Peloton Hackathon 2026
Peloton Arcade is a full arcade experience built for the bike. Andersen, a Senior Manager of Engineering at Peloton, designed it around cadence, resistance, and a custom controller he made himself. In the recap, he described Hackathon week as the chance to “take something like that from an idea to working hardware people can play.”
Alex Niderberg, a Director of Engineering at Peloton, also pointed to the value of pitching concepts to senior leadership and seeing how quickly they come together.

Hardware projects led the Peloton Hackathon 2026 results, according to Peloton, and AI appeared both in the features teams built and in the tools they used. In several cases, AI sharpened the software behind the hardware. Game-style training is not new to the platform, as Lanebreak launched on the Bike in February 2022 before expanding to the Tread.
Inside the Peloton Hackathon 2026 Hack Week Format
Hack Week gives teams three and a half days to build a working prototype. It begins in Taiwan, moves to Poland, then reaches New York, where the kickoff is streamed live and recorded. Participants worked from Taiwan, Poland, Woodinville, Sunnyvale, New York City, and remote locations worldwide, across teams that included Product, Legal, and Strategy.
For the Peloton Hackathon 2026, the expo was the only venue for judging. Judges reviewed live pitches at booths in the New York headquarters alongside video submissions from remote teammates, which gave every entry a consistent review. Peloton also streamed the expo, including roving reporter segments and the closing ceremony, and the community cast live votes for a favorite project.
Many participants worked outside their usual roles. Product managers shipped features, and colleagues from legal and strategy joined the build.
Peloton Features That Started as Hackathon Projects
Peloton credits the Hackathon with several features Members already use. They include Auto-Resistance, 3rd Party Treadmill Metrics, target metrics, QR Code Log-in, and the Peloton Android Widget.
Peloton Guide also started at a Hackathon. Its movement tracking, rep counting, and form feedback now live on Peloton IQ, which uses camera-based tracking on the Cross Training Series Bike+, Tread+, and Row+. The same approach is reaching running through Run Analysis, which scores running form on a 1-to-100 scale on Tread Vision and Tread+ beginning October 1.
AI is also changing how Members plan workouts. Peloton now connects with ChatGPT, Meta’s Muse, and Gemini. The Clip Out’s podcast discussion of the ChatGPT integration noted Chief Technology Officer Francis Shanahan’s comment that it was also discovered during a hackathon.
Peloton says it is watching to see which Peloton Hackathon 2026 projects spark the next generation of Member features. No release plans have been announced for Peloton Arcade or any other 2026 entry.
