Top 10 Tech Features of 2024

Peloton’s Top 10 Tech Features from 2024 Recap

Along with a lot of buzzworthy news coming out of the Peloton this year, their tech team was working fast and furiously to deliver a ton of new features to us in 2024. Let’s dig in!

Peloton emails shoutouts to members

10. Shoutouts Delivered to Your Inbox

Members can now receive emailed files of their class shoutouts, making it easier to relive those moments without rewatching entire sessions.

File under “something no one asked for but is kind of cool,” members were alerted that they would be emailing people files of their shoutouts from classes, thus eliminating the tedious task of rewatching and screen recording the moment of glory when you sprang free from LB anonymity! In theory this is neat for those of us who care, but it’s been pretty hard to get a shoutout lately in general. I wonder what kind of market research they did before putting time into this one?

Peloton partners with Fitbit

9. Fitbit Partnership Expands Access

Peloton’s partnership with Fitbit allows Premium users to access a variety of Peloton classes directly from their devices in select countries.

Peloton announced a new partnership with Fitbit that had Android users ecstatic! Fitbit Premium users can unlock access to a diverse range of Peloton classes right from their devices, available to Fitbit Premium members in the US, UK, CA, and AU. Are you a Fitbit/Android user and has this feature helped you maximize your workout potential?

Peloton Entertainment features Amazon Kindle and original content

8. Entertainment Tab Adds Originals and Kindle

The Entertainment Tab now features Peloton Originals and supports Amazon Kindle, offering diverse content options during workouts.

If you’re the kind of person who loves Peloton… but sometimes wants a break from instructor chitchat or you’re tired of hearing INXS and AC/DC again… but are also still addicted to doing workouts… then the Entertainment Tab on the Bike, Tread and Row must have been developed for you! This cool feature highlights original content developed by Peloton for your viewing pleasure, such as Becs’ 2022 Olympic Trial Training and Susie’s Badwater 135 documentary, previously housed on Peloton’s YouTube Channel. It also takes advantage of a new 2024 partnership with Amazon, allowing you to read your Kindle content while exercising. Did you know about this option? Do you use it?

Features facilitate friend finding and teamwork

 7. Connect with Friends, Block Unwanted Contacts

New features make it easier to find friends and create teams, while also allowing members to block others and hide objectionable tags.

“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.” Someone in Tech must have been reading A Tale of Two Cities this year, as members got new opportunities that eased the barrier to connecting with people on the Leaderboard, through a new Find Friends feature and with the new Teams function, while also being able to easily block other members. Friend finding was made easier with the ability to search via a person’s real name, not just their Leaderboard name (although some members reported not loving the way they had to opt OUT of this instead of opting IN). Teams gives anyone the ability to create a team and invite people in, where they can create their own kind of accountability challenges. It seems like a neat idea that will help people who are not active on social media connect with each other. We haven’t heard a lot of buzz back on this one yet, as it dropped in early fall, so let us know if you have been using it and liking it!

And, what’s not to like about easier blocking… yes, Peloton is a generally great community but sometimes there are some bad apples, and this feature gives members peace of mind. As well, members can hide tags that they find objectionable, which helps people focus on having a positive fitness experience as they ride, run, row and flow.

Peloton Lanebreak for Tread+

6. Lanebreak Lands on the Tread+

Tread+ users can now enjoy Lanebreak, a gamified workout experience that combines exercise with video game-like challenges.

Tread+ owners are all caught up with their peers on the Bike/+ and Tread with the addition of Lanebreak on their own equipment. Lanebreak is Peloton’s approach to gamifying your workout, offering a really fun opportunity to race towards your goals in a sort of video game environment, earning points by increasing incline or speed, and competing against others in special challenges. Considering how much Peloton has invested into its Running content this year, it’s likely that the Tread+ members are thrilled to have this additional and fun opportunity to practice.

Track workouts come for Tread

5. Track Workouts for Tread Runners

The Tread/+ now includes track workouts, offering a focused training option for runners who enjoy straightforward sessions.

More fun stuff for runners was developed for the Just Run and Just Walk tabs on the Tread/+ this year. A good old track workout! If you are the type to dial in and strip it back, this new feature is for you. Anyone pretend you are out on the NYC track with Matt and his Wednesday morning workout crew?

Peloton Metrics Classes

4. Metrics Classes Focus on Performance

Metrics classes eliminate instructor chatter, allowing members to concentrate on performance data and track progress.

“Just the facts, ma’am.” It’s unlikely the Peloton Tech Team was watching old episodes of the TV classic Dragnet, but, they must have been reading the minds of many members as they released a Collection of classes called Metrics. These rides, runs, and rows dispense with the instructor chit chat and instead laser in on the numbers. Focusing exclusively on your performance, you can create new goals and measure your progress over time. Have you tried these yet?

Volume control enhances Peloton workouts

3. Enhanced Ride Features: Auto Resistance and Music Control

Riders benefit from auto resistance adjustments and the ability to control music and instructor volume independently.

OK, runners have gotten a lot of love this year, but riders got two major upgrades that members are loooooooving! First, a very simple but very useful adjustment to the music and instructor volume was introduced. This gives the ability to rebalance both streams of audio almost completely… meaning, if you love a song but don’t want the instructor to talk over it, you can drag your control to increase music and decrease instructor. Conversely, if their music is not your jam but you’re vibing with their coaching, turn down that music and crank the coach to eleven! In addition, the new Auto Resistance feature (on Bike+ only) has been an absolute game-changer for Power Zone enthusiasts. Automatically moving your resistance to the middle of the called Zone has resulted in some enviably smooth graphs!

2. Strength+ App Offers New Personalized Gym Programming and Guide Gets Your Form Right

The new Strength+ app offers personalized programming, while the Guide’s form feedback feature helps improve exercise technique.

2024 has been a big year for Strength. So big, in fact, that Peloton has launched a brand new app called Strength+, and they even invited non-members to be part of the beta test process (a first for them). The Strength+ app was released to iOS users in the US in early December and was designed to provide personalized workout plans that adapt to individual progress, making it easier for users to achieve their fitness goals. Using exciting customizable options, members can now create specific plans for themselves using the equipment or machines available to them, body focus, intensity level, and duration to maximize their time in the gym. Read more about the Strength+ app here!

Strength fans who love their Guides were also pleased to learn that Form Correct functionality was added to this little wonder halfway through the year. Letting members have the Guide check their positioning is a great added bonus!

Peloton Pace Targets classes for runners

1. Pace Targets Lead the Way to 2025

Pace Targets, or “Power Zone for Running,” provide customizable levels to help runners enhance their performance and track progress.

Back to our fleet-footed Tread friends as we reveal our top pick for feature releases in 2024. Yes, you guessed it, it’s the wildly popular Pace Targets, aka “Power Zone for Running.” This super cool feature brings the “you versus you” mindset to the Tread as it offers ten levels from which members can choose a level that meets their capabilities. Not only does this feature help motivate competitive runners to improve their performance, it also supports those returning to the sport to understand where they are now and maximize what they are capable of. It’s a win-win and members are loving it!

So, there you have it, our wrap-up of the Top 10 running, riding, and rowing advances brought to us this year by Peloton. Which features are your favorites? What are you still hoping they will roll out in the future?
