Nico Sarani Five Year Anniversary: A Big Celebration in 2 Languages
Nico Sarani Marks Five Years as a Peloton Instructor
It’s the Nico Sarani Five Year Anniversary! Peloton yoga, meditation, and foam rolling instructor Nico Sarani is celebrating a big milestone on the platform this April. When she joined Peloton in spring 2021 as the first German-language yoga instructor in the platform’s history, she was stepping into uncharted territory. Five years later, she has built one of Peloton’s most distinctive teaching presences, leading German-speaking members through Slow Flows, Yin Yoga, meditation sessions, and most recently, a brand-new sleep yoga format called Gute Nacht Yoga (which earned strong community reviews and landed in TCO’s Top 5 favorite classes the week it debuted). And, don’t sleep (haha) on her robust English content too!

From Germany to the Mat in New York
Nico is originally from Germany and describes herself on Instagram as “your bestie in Yoga, Meditation & Foam Rolling,” with specialties in Slow Flows and Yin Yoga. Trained as a yoga teacher in Bali, Fiji, and Amsterdam, she developed a teaching philosophy grounded in the idea that yoga is not just a workout but a “work-in,” a phrase she uses to describe the mental and emotional dimension of practice alongside the physical.
She brings that same curiosity and range to her life off the mat. Nico is a self-described travel enthusiast, a dog mum to Charlie (aka “the Fluff Butt”), and someone who nerds out on yogic traditions, ancient architecture, and embodied practice. Her recent personal pursuits include improv theatre and handpan playing, which she noted in her recent Instagram re-introduction post with the funny caveat that a friend suspects a midlife crisis.
That warmth and self-awareness is exactly what has made her a quiet favorite in the Peloton community. Her teaching style carries real depth, and her classes span stillness and sweat in equal measure.
A Path That Wasn’t Always Straightforward
The road to five years has had its detours. Earlier this year, Nico found herself stuck in Germany longer than planned when visa paperwork delays extended what was supposed to be a short trip home into a month-long stay. She kept members updated through her Instagram during that period, sharing her experience of “practicing patience” while Peloton continued to drop her pre-recorded content and Encore classes.
She returned to Peloton Studios New York on March 1, marking the end of the wait and the start of a fresh chapter in her live teaching schedule. You can read more about her return in our coverage here.
That episode resonated with members who have navigated similar bureaucratic frustrations, and Nico’s transparency about the experience only deepened the connection her community has with her.
The Nico Sarani Five Year Anniversary: What She’s Built
The Nico Sarani five year anniversary arrives at a moment of real momentum. She is currently participating in Peloton’s German Cross Training Program, the Frühlings-Fit Challenge, which launched April 27 and features all 10 of Peloton’s German-language instructors. Nico is the sole New York-based instructor in that lineup, while her German colleagues teach from Peloton Studios London.
Her reach has also expanded in the English-language catalog. Over the years, she has added English classes to her schedule, giving non-German-speaking members access to her truly delightful teaching style. Personally, I always like to share that although I don’t take as many classes with her as I could, I’ve really enjoyed every single one I have taken. Especially her Classical Flows. And, I do love her foam rolling music and style.
Five Years, and Still Showing Up
When Nico describes her Instagram space, she uses a line worth holding onto: “Come for the yoga. Stay for the memes and dog content, burning thighs, book recs you didn’t ask for, and ancient wisdom translated into modern life.” It captures something real about what she has built over five years on Peloton: a practice that takes the work seriously without taking itself too seriously.
We covered her three-year Peloversary back in 2024 alongside Kirra Michel and Mariana Fernández. Two years on, she has only added to what made that milestone worth celebrating.
The Nico Sarani five year anniversary is marked with plenty of Yin Yoga, Slow Flows, meditation, foam rolling, Chair Poses, and dog content. Here’s to many more!
