Jess King Power Zone Library Doubles With 3 New Classes

A 10 minute FTP Warm Up Ride, a 20 minute FTP Test, and a 20 minute Beginner Ride take her catalog from three classes to six.

Jess King Power Zone classes now total six after three new additions appeared in the Peloton library with a Sunday, November 1 date. The new classes are a 10 minute FTP Warm Up Ride, a 20 minute FTP Test, and a 20 minute Power Zone Beginner Ride, which doubles the catalog she has built since being announced as a Power Zone instructor.

King announced the role at the end of her 30 minute Sweat Steady ride on July 10, and her first Power Zone class followed on Thursday, July 16 at 5:30 PM ET, a 45 minute Power Zone Endurance Ride. The Clip Out covered the announcement and the debut at the time. Since then, however, she has not had many new classes.

Jess King Power Zone Library Now Holds Six Classes

Before this batch, King had three Power Zone classes in the library: the 45 minute Endurance Ride from July 16, a 30 minute Power Zone EDM Ride from Thursday, August 13 at 5:30 PM ET, and a 30 minute Power Zone Endurance Ride from Thursday, October 8 at 8:30 PM ET. The three new classes bring the total to six.

The new additions fill gaps in that lineup. Her first three classes were endurance and EDM rides. None of them focused on FTP, and none was labeled for beginners.

FTP Warm Up Ride, FTP Test, and Beginner Ride

FTP, or Functional Threshold Power, is the benchmark Power Zone training zones are built on. King now offers both parts of that process: a 10 minute FTP Warm Up Ride and a 20 minute FTP Test. Both are listed under Jess King Cycling with the same Sunday, November 1 date and a 12:00 AM time stamp, so members can pair a warm up and a test from the same instructor.

The 20 minute Power Zone Beginner Ride is the first class in her library aimed at members who are new to the format. It adds an entry point alongside her endurance and EDM rides.

That fits the framing King used in July, when she told members that Sweat Steady is “Power Zone in disguise” and that the Sweat Steady format is not going anywhere.

Music Across the New Jess King Power Zone Classes

Jess King is known for her musicality and her FTP classes give riders options away from the hard rock found in many other instructors’ test rides.

The FTP Test class features music by Annie Lennox, Eurythmics, Dave Stewart, and Elvis Presley, with four tracks: Edge of Reality (Tame Impala Remix) by Elvis Presley and Tame Impala, Paralyzer by Finger Eleven, Need You Tonight by Welshly Arms, and Right By Your Side by Annie Lennox, Eurythmics, and Dave Stewart.

The warmup features music by Robyn, Wuki, The Prodigy, and Bring Me The Horizon across six tracks: Redneck Woman by Gretchen Wilson, Freak On a Leash by Korn, Nasty (Spor Remix) by The Prodigy, Whip It by Wuki and Devo, MANTRA by Bring Me The Horizon, and Dopamine by Robyn.

With six classes, the Jess King Power Zone library now runs from a beginner ride through FTP testing to endurance and EDM rides, giving members at different points in the format a place to start.
