Before Peloton, Andy Speer was building a different kind of career. A former competitive gymnast and pole vaulter who competed at the University of Miami, he transformed his own physique through strength training in college, then went on to become a sought-after personal trainer in New York City and co-founder of Soho Strength Lab, one of Manhattan’s most respected private training facilities. He won Men’s Health magazine’s Next Top Trainer title in 2014, the same publication that would later host him as a podcast guest more than a decade on. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and NASM-certified personal trainer with more than 25 years in fitness, and became one of Peloton’s earliest and most influential instructors, helping build out the platform’s Tread programming from the ground up.

On Peloton, Andy is best known for his technique-driven Total Strength classes and his signature weekly TS60 program, alongside a growing library of structured Programs: Total Strength 1 and 2, Total Strength Density 1 and 2, and his 3-Day and 5-Day Split formats. He is one of only two Certified HYROX Performance Coaches on the Peloton instructor roster and co-leads the platform’s 12-week HYROX Training Program. His coaching voice, equal parts technically precise and comedic, has built him a devoted fan base known as the Speerheads.

2026 has kept Andy visible both on and off the platform. In March, he appeared on Men’s Health’s Strong Talk podcast alongside fitness director Ebenezer Samuel and exercise physiologist Dr. Pat Davidson, unpacking the “strengthspan” concept, the idea that strength should be trained across a lifetime and across multiple domains rather than treated as one fixed trait. That same month, a cryptic tease during a live TS60 class hinted at a possible new collaboration tied to Matt Wilpers’ HYROX training. In June, for Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month, Andy shared a candid, personal Instagram message about losing his maternal grandmother and stepfather to Alzheimer’s and dementia, using the moment to make the case for strength and cardio training as some of the most modifiable tools available for long-term brain health.
