Francis Shanahan Web Summit Session Set for Nov. 12

Peloton’s CTO joins Oura’s Dor Kilroy in Lisbon on November 12 for a session on personal, connected fitness.

The Francis Shanahan Web Summit session is set for Thursday, November 12, in Lisbon, where Peloton’s CTO will take part in a 20 minute conversation on personal and connected fitness. It is scheduled for 11:00 AM on Stage 5.

Francis announced the appearance on LinkedIn on October 22. His post says he will be in Lisbon to talk about where fitness tech is headed, and it invites people to connect with him at the event.

Web Summit runs November 9 to 12 in Lisbon. The event began in 2009 as a 150 person conference in Dublin and, according to its LinkedIn page, now gathers more than 140,000 attendees each year as a global event series. The series also holds editions in Doha, Rio de Janeiro, and Vancouver. Forbes calls it “the best tech conference on the planet.”

Details for the Francis Shanahan Web Summit Session

The session is titled The future of fitness is personal & connected. Francis will share the stage with Dor Kilroy, Chief Commercial Officer at Oura, and Claire Sanderson, Editor-in-Chief and Podcast Host for Women’s Health UK and Men’s Health UK. The listing runs from 11:00 AM to 11:20 AM and does not include a description beyond the title.

The Web Summit speaker page lists Francis as Chief Technology Officer at Peloton, responsible for the software stack. That scope covers firmware, systems software, service infrastructure, and content and application software across Connected Fitness devices, along with the Studio, Gaming experiences, and eCommerce platforms. The page lists him under the United States and the SaaS category.

What the Francis Shanahan Web Summit Talk Will Cover

In his LinkedIn post, Francis describes wellness as moving away from tracking everything and toward guidance that fits the individual. He says the conversation with Kilroy will cover how AI can turn signals into insight people can actually use, and why connected devices need to work together to make that possible.

The post closes with a question for his network: what would make your fitness data more useful to you?

The Francis Shanahan Web Summit topic of AI and personalization connects to Peloton IQ, the AI coaching platform that combines artificial intelligence, computer vision, and personal fitness data to deliver personalized training. The Clip Out also reported earlier this year on plans to expand Peloton IQ beyond strength training, which have come to light with the new Tread lineup introduced in Fall 2026.

How have you been using Peloton IQ on your equipment and how would you answer Francis’ question?
