Christine D'Ercole Met Mumford & Sons In Person

Christine D’Ercole Met Mumford & Sons: 1 Unforgettable Night

Christine D’Ercole Met Mumford & Sons as a True Fan

A last minute concert meetup held real weight for the Peloton instructor who loves the band’s music.

Christine D’Ercole met Mumford & Sons last week, and for an instructor who has spent years building classes around the band’s music, the moment carries real weight.

CDE shared on her social media that she had the opportunity to meet the band and asked if she could read them the words she uses to open class. She described her heart pounding and catching a tear before it fell. The band listened.

Christine explained that Mumford & Sons matter to her in part because of Marcus Mumford’s acceptance speech for the John Steinbeck Award. After watching it, she wrote lines describing the band as scholars of the heart, and their songs as stories that can lay a listener gently down or bring them crashing to their knees. She said the songs carry the capacity to rip a person open and mend them, if they truly listen, to themselves and to each other. If you have ever taken a CDE ride, you know this to be absolutely true.

Those lines form the foundation of a class opener D’Ercole has used before, one that asks riders to look at each other on the leaderboard, read each other’s names, and treat the ride as a neighborly space. She quoted Marcus Mumford quoting Steinbeck: our welfare is wrapped up in the welfare of others. Christine had said she planned to bring that theme into an upcoming 45-minute Low Impact Ride, and her 8/14/26 class includes two songs from the band.

The Weight of the Opportunity

This was not a one-off brush with fame. Christine D’Ercole met Mumford & Sons as someone who already programs their music into her classes on a regular basis, and who led the popular 30-minute Mumford & Sons Ride during Peloton’s May Artist Series at Peloton Studios New York on May 21, 2026.  That class was not a rare pairing. It was the latest entry in a pattern D’Ercole has built over years of returning to the band’s catalog.

Christine D'Ercole Mumford & Sons Ride

The fact that Christine D’Ercole met Mumford & Sons in person only deepens a relationship that was already showing up on the schedule. Riders who have taken her classes know the band’s songs surface often, not because they are trending, but because she keeps coming back to them.

That instinct is central to what makes her playlists work. CDE has built a reputation for curation that goes beyond matching tempo to output, pulling deep cuts and unexpected artists into classes that ask riders to feel the music rather than just pedal to it. Her Women’s History Month Alternative Rock Ride is a recent example of that same approach in a different genre.

That same instinct extends into how she builds community. D’Ercole has led riders through, for example, Ride United fundraising rides that turn a workout into a shared cause.  Her Reflection Ride collection trades output numbers for breath and presence. She recently led a wordshop for opera singers, carrying her language-focused coaching style beyond the Peloton platform entirely.

Christine D’Ercole met Mumford & Sons as a fan first, and that is the version of the story riders likely heard about in class. It is consistent with how she has always taught: personal, specific, and built on music that means something to her before it ever reaches the leaderboard.

Have you taken her Mumford & Sons Artist Series Ride or her post-concert Low Impact Ride?
