Peloton Appoints New COO

You’re all frazzled.

I am hopped up on work adrenaline.

New job gusto. You just got done. You came right downstairs and started the recording.

Yes, I did. It’s a lot of fun. I am perfectly melded for the total nerdness I am immersing myself in. It’s great.

I will take it. What pray tell do you have in store for people this week?

First of all, we’re going to talk about Peloton’s brand new Chief Operating Officer and some other leadership changes they made, as well as talking about Peloton’s female leadership. We’re going to talk about a big article that Forbes did, highlighting all of the female leadership. We also are going to talk about the beta testing that is happening for Pace Targets for walking. We have details about that. We also have the new contest that Peloton launched for a studio visit, which is the first time that has ever occurred. That’s a big deal.

The Clip Out | Peloton New COO

Peloton New COO: Forbes spotlighted Peloton’s female leadership.

We’re going to talk about some platform issues. We’re going to talk about a whole crap ton of content. We have Jon Hosking back where? We have Selena. She is showing off the brand new collection that Emma Lovewell did. Mariana’s new schedule turned into a whole thing. It’s quite a discussion. MSN featured Kirsten Ferguson, and then we’re going to talk about the latest Producer Series. As I said, lots and lots of content.

Before we get to all that, shameless plugs. Don’t forget, we’re available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, iHeart, and TuneIn. Wherever you find a podcast, you can find us. While you’re there, be sure and follow us so you never miss an episode. Maybe leave us a review. That is super helpful and greatly appreciated. If you would like to support the show, we would like you to. It’s only $5 a month. What do you get? You get all sorts of bonus content. You get ad-free episodes. If we get them early, you get them early. Last week, we got them late. Our apologies there. We got a super late. The main episode for everybody was late. It was a whole thing, so our apologies. It was beyond our control. Hopefully, that will not happen this week.

On the bonus episode, let’s talk about Ally Love. If you’ve been following her, you might have the same question that everybody has. We’re going to talk about it. We’re also going to talk about new data about busy moms and how busy they are. We’ll have some wellness hacks from your favorite Peloton instructors. That’s all waiting for you over on the bonus episode. You can also follow us on Facebook at Facebook.com/TheClipOut. While you’re there, like the page and join the group. Finally, don’t forget that all of these episodes exist over on YouTube if you would like to look at us. There’s all that. Let’s dig in, shall we?

We shall.

Peloton Appoints New COO

Peloton has appointed a new Chief Operating Officer.

They hired Charles Kirol. He is going to be joining Peloton on April 14th. He is an industry veteran with 25 years of experience. He has worked as Executive Vice President and Chief Global Ops and Technology Officer at iRobot Corporation. He is going to be focused at Peloton specifically on supply chain management, cost optimization, IT oversight, and driving operational excellence. He has a very long background of 25 years of experience. He also had some military service as well. The military has a lot of different ways of incorporating things, so I’m curious to see what that looks like from his vantage point.

Also perhaps a unique managerial style. Of course, it sounds like he’s been in the private sector for a long time. People are going to have to start saluting around the office.

There were other changes made as well. The company promoted Dion Camp Sanders to Chief Commercial Officer. Sanders is transitioning from his previous role. He was the Chief Emerging Business Officer. Now he’s going to oversee the retail operation, sales channels, and member experience. Peloton is saying that this strategic move is set to align Peloton’s commercial efforts with its growth targets, bringing them together.

Peloton New COO: Tech issues this week: Android watch app crashes and Peloton app errors

We’re not done. There’s one more. Andrew Rendich is the current Chief Supply Chain Officer. He is going to step down from that role and transition into an advisory role through the end of this fiscal year. Peloton is also actively seeking a Chief Information Officer. Lots and lots going on. The stock market likes it today. I don’t know. At least when it first came out. I haven’t looked at my phone in hours, which is very unusual for me. The stock market this week sucks.

Today, it has rallied because Trump paused tariffs for 90 days.

That is a very interesting timing. That makes sense as to why the market was rebounding. I don’t know if what I saw was related to that. I have no idea. It all happened so fast. I wanted to say congrats. Welcome to the team.

Peloton’s Female Leadership

Speaking of the team, Forbes spotlighted Peloton’s female leadership.

I was a little surprised this came out in April. I feel like maybe it was targeted for a March thing.

The Clip Out | Peloton New COO

Peloton New COO: Jon Hosking is back with his At The Club classes.

Something bumped it.

I don’t know. The news has been pretty crazy lately in the world, so who knows? Regardless, the article is titled How Peloton’s Women Leaders Are Shaping the Brand’s Future. They have a picture of all of Peloton’s female executives, Dalana Brand, Tammy Albarran, Lauren Weinberg, Liz Coddington, and Jen Cotter. They are all included there, then they go through this thing. They talk about Peloton and what it looked like before. They get to talk about the actual women and how they specifically are changing the actual culture of what people are experiencing at home. I thought that was pretty cool.

We have a little birdie informing us that Peloton has been testing Pace Targets for walking.

We knew these were coming. We’ve we’ve had several instructors. Mattty has mentioned multiple times that they’re working on this, but we now know that it is being tested right now. What that looks like according to the said, birdie is that we have nine different levels. We have five Pace Targets and they’re broken out with recovery, easy, brisk, power, and max. It is very similar to what running looks like, but they’re going to be at a different pace. For example, recovery is 1.0 to 2.8.

Is that miles per hour?

The Clip Out | Peloton New COO

Peloton New COO: Peloton’s Lovewell Collection

Yes. Over on the running side for level 2, which is where I started with my running journey, that recovery goes from 1.0 to 3.2. It’s not much of a difference for a super slow runner like myself. The important reason is that these Pace Targets are individualized. If you’re if you’re at level 4 and you’re a level 4 person, that recovery from 1.0 to 2.8 is going to look a lot slower than if you were running. That’s the idea. You want to be able to go slower while you’re walking. Easy for a level 4 is 2.9 to 3.2. Brisk is 3.3 to 3.6. Power walking is 3.7 to 4. Max is 4.1 to 7.1. I want to see somebody walk that fast.

It’s like the power walkers.

I saw a lot of them when I was “running” the marathon. By running, I put that in quotes because the power walkers were passing me.

The walkers were faster than you were a runner.

That’s what happens when you’re slow. Anyway, that’s super cool that they are in testing. I think we can assume that we’re going to be seeing that soon. I would say that as long as they don’t have to do some redesigning of the course, we’re going to be seeing this rolled out in the next probably 60 days. Maybe 90 or something like that. I’m just guessing.

Peloton Contest Awarding Winners Access To The Studio

Peloton is having a contest over on the Gram, where the winner gets access to the studio.

Ten people are going to win. They are going to get free studio classes and they made it very easy to do. You answer three questions. I joined because, fill in the blank. I found, blank, and now I, blank. One of the examples was I joined because I turned 50. I found meditation with Aditi. Now I want to get yoga certified. It’s supposed to be short. They don’t give you much room. All you do is put it in and ten people are going to get free studio classes. How cool is that?

I wonder if you get to pick who you get?

I don’t think it’ll work that way. I think they will give you credit in your studio account, which means you can pick. You will pick everything. Do you see what I’m saying?

I see what you’re saying.

The Clip Out | Peloton New COO

Peloton New COO: MSN featured Kirsten Ferguson in a lengthy article.

Maybe I’m wrong.

The weird sound in my voice is that It can be very difficult to get classes. I would have thought part of the contest would be you get to cut the line. I wouldn’t think that for the average Peloton user, the $40 is the stumbling block that’s keeping them from the studio. It’s the land rush every time you open up a new batch of classes.

I’ll put it this way. There was no information on that aspect of it yet because the contest is in progress. All they did was post it on their stories on Instagram. It’s not like they have a whole thing where you go and you enter and “Here’s a website and here’s all your questions.” We don’t have that. You were asking a fair question. I think they are either doing what I think, which is giving you credit or they are keeping their options open, depending on how things go. I think it’s one of those two things. We will find out more here later.

Tech Issues: Android Watch App Crashes & Peloton App Errors

We will now take a look at this week’s tech issues. What went wrong now?

Peloton’s women leaders are shaping the brand’s future. Their female executives are transforming the culture of what people experience at home.

There are a couple of things that popped up. The first one popped up on April 7th. They have at least identified this one but it’s still in progress. The Android Watch app crashes when it unlocks an achievement after you complete a workout on a bike or the tread. You get done with the bike workout, and you’re using your Android watch app, and it’s like, “You reach 200 workouts.” It crashes.

The members who are working and specifically using an Android Watch app are experiencing this. The team has identified the issue and they’re working to roll out a fix. It has not come out yet. That was as of April 9th. Two days ago, we’re still waiting. They are working on it. The other thing that is happening and is going to affect more people is the elevated errors with the Peloton app that occurred on April 8th.

They said that several app members were encountering high latency or login errors. It was like you didn’t exist. That’s very frustrating. Yesterday, the same day, they implemented a fix. Late last night, they said that services have returned to normal. Today, they posted that they were going to continue to monitor for any further issues. Hopefully, nobody will see that but yesterday was quite the hullabaloo in all the groups.

I bet you try to log in and you think your account has been deleted. That would be upsetting, especially if you’ve been doing it for years and years, then the history and data are gone.

Peloton New COO: The latest on the artist/producer series: Dr. Dre!

It’s not gone. You just can’t get in there at the moment. It’s all protected and happy.

You’re going to be okay. Coming after this, we’re going to talk about instructors in the news. We got updates from Jon Hosking and Selena Samuela. Stick around.

‐‐‐

Jon Hosking’s At The Club Classes

Jon Hosking is back with his At The Club classes.

People love these and they are going to be back starting this Friday. By the time you see this episode, it will already be either out or coming out that day.

Selena Samuela took to the Gram, showing off the new Emma Lovewell Collection.

This is an interesting collection because you don’t often see orange colors that are paired with a rose color. I thought it was very pretty, but I felt like I already had the orange set of Peloton clothes. We haven’t seen an Emma Lovewell Collection in several years so it’s pretty cool to see that. I think the last one probably was back in 2018. It’s been a long time. It’s pretty cool to see a new collection from her and to see what they came up with.

Mariana Fernandez New Schedule

Mariana Fernandez has a new schedule that turned into a whole thing.

Here’s the deal. There are yoga classes, and then there’s one tread class. It’s at 7:00 PM Eastern, but it’s on Tuesdays. The reason that’s a big deal is she only gets one tread class a week. There are no people in it. It will never fall on a weekend when people can come in and take a running class with her. That means if I were to visit the studio and want to take a class with Mariana, I would only be able to choose from yoga. I would not be able to choose a running class.

It’s wonderful to be able to take a yoga class. I am not at all disparaging that. I truly think that yoga classes are the best way to get one-on-one time with instructors. They spend the most time with you. It’s a small studio. It’s the best for that. I love the way Mariana teaches her tread classes. She is such a special instructor in the way that she motivates you. At the end of her live classes, she brings everybody together in a circle and you all put your hands on each other, then you celebrate what you did. You take a minute.

She truly wants to bring people together. It’s a bummer for everyone who loves Mariana to not be able to take in-person running classes. The other side of the equation is these schedules tend to change about twice a year. Maybe they will come back. One thing that I know we can all do is we can submit member feedback, there is a whole form for that, and say, “We want to see these classes with Mariana.”

The other thing is she will be able to sub for classes from time to time. There will be that opportunity, but it’s not like you can plan for that. That only works for people who happen to be in New York or live in New York and go to classes all the time. It’s not going to work for somebody who lives far away. It didn’t turn into a thing where people are in a rage and everybody is throwing a big fit. People are just sad about it. It’s a bummer.

Peloton New COO: TCO Top 5

MSN Featured Kirsten Ferguson

MSN featured Kirsten Ferguson in quite a lengthy article.

This article is titled I Went on a 1:1 Run With a Peloton Instructor – Here’s Everything I Learned. It was written by Sarah Wasilak. She talks about how she loves running on the West Side Highway. She goes into the details of that and then she gets into the actual conversation that she had. Some of the topics they covered were how getting injured forces you to look inward. As they ran together, Sarah was still healing from patellar tendinitis in her right knee. Kirsten was taking it easy on her.

My guess is she’s probably taking it easy on her no matter what. She’s a Peloton instructor. No shade towards Sarah, but I’m going to go on a limb and say that my money is on the Peloton instructor, probably in most cases, being the more adept.

They also talked about how fitness is a lifelong journey and it’s easier when you do it with a support system. If you’re able to run with people even virtually, that makes a huge difference in keeping that motivation up. I know that long runs are very hard to do by yourself. I’m so slow. That’s the only way it’s feasible. You can’t be like, “Would you like to go on a seven-hour walk with me?” That’s not going to be a thing.

The last thing that they talk about in the article is imposter syndrome sucks for everyone. You and I have had conversations about imposter syndrome at length. It’s something everybody deals with and everybody thinks it’s only them and it’s in every area of our lives. It’s everywhere. This article covers all those things. As you said, a nice lengthy feature on Kirsten and Peloton in general. It’s very cool. Congrats to everybody.

The Clip Out | Peloton New COO

Peloton New COO: This week at Peloton: new body conditioning classes.

Coming up after this, we’re going to talk about the upcoming artist series. We’re going to talk about other music classes that should be on your radar and of course, dig into all the different content that’s out there so you can make the best choice for your workout routines. Stick around.

‐‐‐

Dr. Dre On The Artist/Producer Series

The latest artist series is an artist/producer series. It’s Dr. Dre.

It’s funny because we were talking in last week’s episode about how they didn’t have any artist series until midway through the month. This is why. One of the things they were doing was having a producer series at the beginning of the month. Dr. Dre has been involved in a ton of things. Even if you think you don’t know Dr. Dre, I’m sure you’ve heard the music that had been produced by Dr. Dre.

One would think.

I would. He’s covered a lot of things. At any rate, there are going to be seven different classes. That’s going to cover a ride, full-body stretch, run, walk plus run, and upper-body strength. There’s also going to be a German ride with Cliff and another full-body strength with Jermaine. Lots of different options to choose from.

Rising Rock Classes Feature Rising Music Stars

If you like something a little less hip-hop, that is okay too. They have Rising Rock classes for you.

The Clip Out | Peloton New COO

Peloton New COO: Rolling Hills – new classes focused on building speed and endurance while powering through rolling terrain.

Rising Rock Schedules

Peloton has been talking about these Rising classes. They’ve had Rising Country and Rising Pop, and now we have Rising Rock. There are several of these classes as well. Those are going to be kicking off this week. I don’t have a huge list of these. There are several though. There were a couple of different pages, but they’re going to have these in German as well. There are going to be lots of different options to choose from. It’ll be across all the different modalities.

Will these spotlight up-and-coming rock artists?

I would say new. I’m not trying to be pedantic as you would say. I am saying they may already be out there, but they’re very early in their careers. It also could be a smaller artist who is not as well known. Maybe they have been out there for a while, but they’re just starting to get some traction.

Some traction that they didn’t have previously. I would never use a big word like pedantic. You’re smart enough for that.

Okay. Right.

TCO Top 5

It is time for the TCO Top 5, where we give you five classes that you nominate.

The Clip Out | Peloton New COO

Peloton New COO: Peloton adds Yoga Drills.

The point of this, Tom, is for our community to be the one curating this, so when other people are listening, they can be like, “Those are great classes.” Also this week, our Helper Bee Elizabeth wrote the article. I am sad to say that Mason has had a little bit of a rough patch with his treatment. It’s been a rough week for Tina and Mason, so they are taking a break. Getting to the Top 5, here you are.

The first item up for bid is your favorite ride.

This was a 60-minute Power Zone endurance class, and it was taught by Matt Wilpers on April 5th. Karen Smith nominated this class. She said, “It was all Zone 2 once you’re out of the warm-up.” She loved that Matt featured good music and some out-of-the-saddle work to break up the work.

Number two, your favorite strength class.

This was a 30-minute Barre Sculpt class taught by Ally Love. You might remember last week, we talked about how refreshing some of the names are in the way they did barre and Pilates. Barre Sculpt is one of the new formats. Sarah Lester said that she loved Ally Love’s Barre Sculpt class, “The 30 minutes flew by and it was a burn.”

Fitness is a lifelong journey, and it’s easier when you have a support system.

Number three, your favorite run.

This run has been nominated so many times. It can continue to be a favorite all the way back from February 2025. I know that’s not that long, but it’s a 90-minute ‘90s run. It was taught by Susie Chan. Robin took this class and she said that Susie is such an amazing endurance coach. It is true. Susie is the queen of the long run.

Number four, your favorite stretch. My favorite stretch is every morning when we’re waiting for the dog as we leave the bedroom.

That is a pretty good stretch, but the favorite stretch for people was taught by Rebecca Kennedy. It was a 10-minute full-body stretch from March 30, 2025. Linda Hawk or Yogi Lynn Spins, that’s her leaderboard name, loved this class. “It not only hits right. It’s a moving meditation throughout. Rebecca matches movement with breath, and the music with her voice is so calming. The class is one deep breath. If someone needs to take a moment and be kind to themselves, this is the class to take.”

Finally, number five, you’re unstackable. This time, it is a tread bootcamp.

The Clip Out | Peloton New COO

Peloton New COO: Selena Samuela holds classes for golfers.

It is a Sims 60. It’s a pop class that was taught by Jess Sims on April 6th. Grace West picked this class. She said it was her first Sims 60 since having her baby four months ago. Jess tailored the class for all levels and gave a wide speed range. This made the class very approachable. She also had a good message about appreciating the body you have today, and Grace left the class feeling strong, confident, and like her old self again. Highly recommended I love that.

Especially for an unstackable.

When you’re trying to get back to where you were before, whether it’s an injury, illness, having babies, or anything, it is tough.

New Body Conditioning Classes

We will now turn our eyes to what’s going on this week at Peloton. We’ve talked about body conditioning.

There are some body conditioning classes. If you don’t know, those are classes that are going to help you improve your overall strength, endurance, flexibility, and balance. They don’t just focus on toning the muscle. They also help enhance performance in other activities, as well as reduce the risk of injury. These are great for anybody, regardless if you’re new to working out or if it’s something you’ve been doing. Maybe you focus on the bike, this is a great way to counteract those classes. One of the things that you can do for body conditioning is these kettlebell conditioning classes with Katie this week. It’s going to be on-demand. It’s a 20-minute kettlebell conditioning class. It will be dropping on-demand, so go take it by the time you hear this episode,

Also, for fans of Cody, he will be live from London.

The Clip Out | Peloton New COO

Peloton New COO: The Outdoor Run Club schedule announced

This is especially important because this entire week, the New York studio is closed. There are no new classes. If you were missing your fix, this would have been a good way to do it. However, it is today. It’s probably a little late for you.

It’s still out there. Just not live.

He was in London a couple of weeks ago so our internal TCO theory is that he was stopping by the studio before and after while he was on vacation.

New Rolling Hills Classes

Now, let’s take a look at The Clip Out radar, classes that we think you should be paying attention to. We have a new class type for people, Rolling Hills.

These new classes are going to be focused on building speed and endurance, while also powering through rolling terrain. In each class, you are going to ascend to a number of hills and then have downhill recoveries in between. It looked like several of these classes are going to be coming up right away if I remember correctly. I saw some with Denis and I saw some with Emma. There’s one with Ally, Mila, and Jermaine. There’s also going to be one with Ben, and then there’s going to be one with Olivia as well.

Peloton Adds Yoga Drills

Peloton has also added yoga drills. If you like yoga but wish it was harder and more intense, maybe you don’t like yoga.

The Clip Out | Peloton New COO

Peloton New COO: For Powerzone fans, a new Powerzone program is coming!

It’s not to be harder. These are to break down things that are hard and to specifically work on things. One thing you hear people talk about over and over again is chaturanga. It is a very difficult move to do.

It is difficult to say.

I have never once, done it correctly. I am very envious of people who can. You go from being in a downward dog, taking your chest all the way down to the mat without touching it, slowly. Usually, you go right up into a cobra without letting your legs touch and without letting your body touch. It is tough. These yoga drills are meant to break down that and also help you do exercises that will specifically help you get better at it. For me, it’s upper body strength that I struggle with. They’re helping you break that down to like, “Let’s focus on what’s hard for you. That is what a yoga drill is.

Selena Samuela’s Classes For Golfers

Selena Samuela has classes designed for golfers. I guess that was rotational for sports.

You could use it for tennis. You could use it if you like to play softball. It’s anything. Pickleballers, I didn’t even think about that. Pickleball is such a very popular sport right now. You could use this for any of those. She has a new Strength for Golfers class. It’s 30 minutes, and then she also has a 20-minute Mobility for Golfers. Those are great classes to be able to do.

The Outdoor Run Club Schedule Announced

We talked last week about the Outdoor Run Club. The schedule has been announced.

The Clip Out | Peloton New COO

Peloton New COO: The new You Can Run 5k is filled with new classes.

I can’t remember when this got posted, but I think it was last Friday. It says, “Starting tomorrow. Tune in wherever you are, and log your Saturday mileage with the team.” In my head, I saw this today, so it’s new. I’m a little behind with everything. A lot is coming at me that I’m trying to navigate so bear with me. Anyway, we have what the next several weeks are going to look like. Saturday, April 5th, that was Becs, and then on Saturday, April 12th, we’re going to have a 30-minute live outdoor run club with Jon Hosking, then on April 19th, there will be a 45-minute live outdoor run club with Susie, and then on April 25th, there will be a 30-minute live outdoor run club with Robin. That’s what the next month looks like.

New Powerzone Program

We have good news for Power Zone fans, of which there are many. We have a new Power Zone program coming at you.

It sounds like it’s going to be at the end of April. Sometime in the next couple of weeks is when we’re anticipating this coming out. Matt Wilpers announced this on socials by saying, “When you can finally tell people about the new Power Zone Programs.” He was super excited about it and I know a lot of people are looking forward to it.

Speaking of new programs, there is also a new 5K program available.

You Can Run 5k Classes

It’s called You Can Run 5k. They had one before and it’s new. It has new classes, at least that’s what I’ve been told. To be honest, I don’t think any of these instructors were in the last one. I think it’s filled with all the new classes, Jon Hosking and Robin. I think there are a couple of more instructors that were in the last one as well.

The Clip Out | Peloton New COO

Peloton New COO: New Lanebreak Levels for the bike, tread, and melodic techno.

New Lanebreak Levels For The Bike, Tread, & Melodic Techno

Finally, we have new Lanebreak levels. I know those are your fave.

We have three for the bike, a 20-minute low-impact pop, a 20-minute dance, which is listed as melodic techno, and then a 5-minute warm-up dance. For the tread, there is a 30-minute classic rock and a 15-minute classic rock, definitely more my speed. I have to call out that for the 20-minute dance listed as melodic techno, DJ. John Michael said is one of the favorite mixes for Lanebreak that he has done in a minute.

There are no birthdays this week. That’s it for this one. Until next time, where can people find you?

People can find me on Facebook at Facebook.com/crystaldokeefe. They can also find me on Threads, Bluesky, Instagram, and of course, the Peloton leaderboard @ClipOutCrystal.

You can find me on Threads and Bluesky at TomOKeefeJr, or on Facebook at Facebook.com/tomokeefe. While you’re there, like the page, join the group. I don’t have a Facebook group. I should have said about The Clip Out Facebook. There, you join the page and like the group, or the other way around. It’s been a long day.

Peloton New COO: Congratulations to the graduates. Keep pedaling, running, and rowing!

If anybody made it this far, they probably know these things.

Don’t do the parsnips thing again. It costs us $300.

Keep Pedaling, Running, & Rowing!

Anyway, that’s it for this one. Thanks so much for tuning in. If you’re a Patreon subscriber, we will see you over there. If not, we will talk to you next week. Until then, keep pedaling and running, and rowing.

Bye.
