Yale MBA for Peloton Head of Apparel

Peloton’s Apparel Head Is Chasing a Yale MBA and Members Are Cheering Her On

Peloton’s Head of Apparel is pursuing a Yale MBA, proving that ambition does not slow down once you land the big role. Samantha Storch Malloy, who took the helm of Peloton’s apparel and accessories business earlier this year, just announced she is heading back to school through Yale’s prestigious Executive MBA program, and she is doing it while running one of Peloton’s most talked about departments. Sounds daunting!

The Peloton community likes to keep an eye on what leadership is up to so this is an exciting update. Here is what you want to know about Samantha, her path to Peloton, and what her Yale MBA journey looks like from here.

Who Is Samantha Storch Malloy?

Storch Malloy joined Peloton in October 2023 as GM of Third Party Retail before being named GM, Head of Apparel and Accessories. Her rise to the top of Peloton apparel was not built on a traditional fashion or merchandising background. Instead, she brings years of experience in brand development, strategic partnerships, and corporate strategy.

Before Peloton, she held senior roles at Rent the Runway, including Head of Corporate Development and Senior Director in the Office of the CEO. Earlier in her career, she worked at Condé Nast and at Makers, a New York organization focused on pay parity and gender equity. She is an NYU graduate, and her career has consistently centered on building brands and forging partnerships rather than designing product lines.

When she stepped into the apparel role, she used her platform to invite the community into the conversation, asking members directly what makes them feel their best when they move. You can read the full breakdown of her background and her approach to the new role over at The Clip Out.

A Yale MBA Milestone for Peloton’s Apparel Leader

Now Storch Malloy is adding another challenge to her plate. She announced on Instagram that she has begun her Yale MBA through the school’s MBA for Executives program, and she is not shy about how intense the start has been. In her announcement, she wrote that she has just kicked off 22 months of business school with two and a half weeks on campus, joking that she will see everyone again in 2028, once she has a social life.

That mix of humor and honesty is exactly what makes her so real – we want to cheer her on! Balancing a demanding leadership role at Peloton with an executive MBA program is no small feat, and her willingness to share the reality of it, exhaustion, ambition, and all, is relatable to anyone who has ever tried to grow professionally while keeping a full life running at the same time (I have done it – her journey is not for the faint of heart!). We hope she keeps sharing all the trials and tribulations along with the achievements and accolades. Samantha can serve as an inspiration to many members.

What to Expect from Yale’s Executive MBA Program

Storch Malloy’s Yale MBA will take 22 months to complete, and the program is structured for people who are still working full time. Students attend Friday and Saturday sessions on alternating weekends at Yale’s campus, along with several in-residence weeks, including a Global Network Week abroad that connects students with business schools around the world.

The program uses Yale’s signature integrated core curriculum, which organizes coursework around stakeholder perspectives such as investors, customers, employees, and competitors, rather than traditional business school silos. Students also choose a specialized area of focus, in asset management, healthcare, or sustainability, which makes up roughly a quarter of the coursework. Graduates earn the exact same Yale MBA degree as full time students.

It is an intense, immersive commitment, and Storch Malloy’s cohort will spend the next two years balancing coursework with their day jobs. For her, that means leading Peloton’s apparel strategy while also deepening her business education at one of the top programs in the country. It’s also an opportunity for her to get Peloton’s name out there with other executives and within the Yale community. She will have numerous opportunities to use real life examples from work and shine the light on all the cool things Peloton is up to.

Why Members Should Be Rooting for Her

Peloton members tend to feel invested in the people shaping the brand, and Storch Malloy’s Yale MBA journey gives the community another reason to pay attention. A leader who is actively investing in her own growth, while still asking members what they want from Peloton apparel, is a good sign for where the category could be headed over the next two years.

Congratulations to Samantha Storch Malloy on starting this next chapter. We will be watching, cheering, and waiting to see what her Yale MBA experience means for the future of Peloton apparel.
