US Open Pride Panel Spotlights Matty Maggiacomo
Matty Maggiacomo joined LGBTQ+ leaders for a candid conversation on visibility and representation at the US Open Pride panel

Peloton instructor Matty Maggiacomo took part in a US Open Pride panel this week, sharing his perspective on what it means to live and lead authentically as part of the USTA’s Be Open programming.
The event brought Maggiacomo together with Scott Evans, Punkie Johnson, Dominique Jackson, and Caitlin Thompson for a morning session tied to the US Open Pride Brunch. Maggiacomo posted about the appearance on Instagram, tagging Peloton in the credits alongside his fellow panelists.
Matty Maggiacomo on Representation and Responsibility
In a video posted to Instagram, Maggiacomo traced the message back to his own path into fitness.

So I made this big pivot to fitness, to teaching thousands of people, telling stories about how to be your authentic self. I might actually be the only queer person that they have a relationship with, virtually through a screen. So I know that if I am representing our collective, diverse, beautiful queer community, you better get it right. It’s on all of us with the microphone to be able to continue to do that. It is our charge.

It’s a theme that runs through much of Maggiacomo’s coaching, where personal storytelling has become as central to his classes as the workouts themselves. The Clip Out’s past coverage of Matty Maggiacomo has tracked that same throughline since his early days with Peloton.
The US Open Pride panel adds another stop to a growing list of platforms where Maggiacomo has folded his own story into his work, a pattern that shows up as much in his classes as it did on the stage in Queens.
