Pilates Journal Expo - Kristin McGee Appearance

The Pilates Journal Expo: Kristin McGee to Inspire Instructors and Entrepreneurs to Soar to New Heights

Kristin McGee, the Peloton alum who pioneered the platform’s original Yoga and Pilates program, is heading to Miami for the Pilates Journal Expo, running September 11 through 13 at the Loews Miami Beach Hotel. Rather than leading a mat class, as some early coverage suggested, Kristin will actually take the stage for two dedicated sessions built around business and teaching craft, a shift that puts her front and center in the industry conversation rather than just on the mat.

What is the Pilates Journal Expo?

The Pilates Journal Expo bills itself as a global gathering for instructors, studio owners, educators, and brands, with stops in Miami, Los Angeles, and Sydney. The event mixes movement sessions with hands-on workshops and business panels covering the realities of running and growing a modern Pilates studio, and it draws hundreds of professionals along with dozens of speakers and exhibitors. For someone like Kristin, who has spent more than three decades teaching and has recently built her own brand from the ground up, it’s a natural fit. The Pilates Journal Expo’s focus on studio leadership and evolving business models lines up closely with what she’s been navigating in her own career since stepping away from a major platform.

Who is Kristin McGee?

Kristin spent more than 30 years teaching yoga and Pilates, including six years as one of Peloton’s founding instructors, before announcing her departure in the summer of 2024 to focus on her family. Her final live class drew more than 1,600 members to the leaderboard for an emotional send-off. Since then, she’s launched Kristin McGee Movement, a subscription platform offering yoga, Pilates, strength, and meditation classes for members at every level. She has also joined Tonal as a guest instructor, bringing her expertise into strength training and positioning herself as a resource for women navigating fitness in midlife. Between writing a book, building her own platform and expanding into new formats, Kristin has spent the past two years proving she’s just as comfortable as an entrepreneur as she was as an instructor, which makes her Pilates Journal Expo sessions especially relevant.

At the Pilates Journal Expo, Kristin will lead two sessions in the Business Panel and Mat Room:

  • September 12, 2026, 4:30–5:20 p.m.: From Instructor to CEO: Leading Studios Beyond Founder Energy
  • September 13, 2026, 1:30–2:15 p.m.: Cue the Connection: The Language of Transformative Teaching

Both sessions speak directly to the arc of Kristin’s own career, moving from beloved instructor to founder of her own wellness brand, and both promise practical takeaways for studio owners and teachers looking to sharpen their leadership and communication skills. Early bird tickets are on sale now.

Her Classes Are Still on the Peloton Platform!

Not had the chance to sweat, stretch, or breathe alongside Kristin during her Peloton years? Now is a good time to go digging in the vault. When she left the platform in 2024, she made a point of confirming her content wasn’t disappearing with her, and true to her word, a deep library of her yoga, Pilates, and meditation classes is still sitting in the on-demand catalog for members to discover. New users who only know her from her recent Tonal debut or her own Kristin McGee Movement platform will find an entirely different side of her work in those older sessions: years of flows, mat sequences, and calming meditations that built her a loyal following in the first place. It’s the kind of back catalog worth browsing – it offers a good sense of the teaching style she’s bringing to the stage in Miami.

This is a full-circle moment for anyone who grew up on Kristin’s Peloton yoga and Pilates classes and wants to hear how she’s applying those lessons to building a business of her own. It’s worth watching for more details (perhaps an added mat class?!?) as the Pilates Journal Expo gets closer.

About the Author: Liz Nikol (#JustAskForHelp)

My daily therapy is provided by Peloton and I truly believe that movement is medicine. I don't discriminate - bike, tread, yoga, strength, pilates and a ton of meditation. By day, I am a psychotherapist and director of a large counseling center in NJ. I am particularly passionate about women's mental health, especially in midlife. By night, I am a mom to 2 dachshunds and a scruffy mutt and wife to a chiropractor that keeps us all moving (yes, that includes the dogs!). Besides Peloton, I am obsessed with hard rock (think Octane on Sirius), Law and Order everything and a good thriller. Find me on the Peloton leaderboard at #JustAskForHelp.
