Peloton Champions Sporting Equals at the 2026 Awards Ceremony
2026 Sporting Equals Awards: Joslyn, Mila, Jeffrey, and Sam Attend as Peloton Presents the Gamechanger Award to Joel Fearon
Peloton instructors showed up in person for the 2026 Sporting Equals Awards, held on April 18 at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London. Joslyn Thompson Rule, Mila Lazar, Jeffrey McEachern, and Sam Yo attended the ninth annual ceremony to celebrate the evening’s honorees. Peloton also presented one of the night’s awards, with the Peloton Gamechanger Award going to British sprinter Joel Fearon.

What Is Sporting Equals?
Sporting Equals is the UK’s leading charity promoting race equality in sport and physical activity. Now in its ninth year, the awards unite leaders, community organizations, and partners from across the sporting landscape to honor those driving real and lasting progress in race equality and inclusion. The ceremony recognizes individuals and organizations working to ensure that sport reflects the diversity of the communities it serves, from elite competition to grassroots participation.
Peloton’s Long Relationship with Sporting Equals
Peloton’s connection to Sporting Equals goes back to 2021 and represents one of the more sustained commitments within Peloton’s Wellbeing for Life social impact program. In the first year of the partnership, Peloton and Sporting Equals ran the BACK2ACTIVE program, partnering with community organizations in London to improve the knowledge, behavior, and attitudes of members towards living a healthier and active lifestyle. The organizations involved encompassed a wide variety of sports and helped challenge stereotypes often faced by those from ethnically diverse communities, while celebrating culture, religion, and community.
In the second year, Sporting Equals ran their International Women’s Day event from Peloton Studios London, anchored by a live Tread class with instructor Susie Chan. The event was attended by associate members including those from the BACK2ACTIVE program, and was followed by a Q&A on how sport and physical activity can better embrace equity, presented by Peloton instructor Hannah Frankson alongside Nileeka Bose, founder of BollyCo Dance Company, and Paralympian Vanessa Wallace. Of course,
In the third year of the partnership, Peloton hosted a Black History Month class with Sporting Equals and sponsored the Sportswoman of the Year category for the 2023 Sporting Equals Awards, won by Katarina Johnson-Thompson.
The cumulative reach of this work is significant. Since the launch of their partnership with Peloton in 2021, Sporting Equals has reached over 32,000 individuals, trained over 600 community volunteers and coaches, and developed three cohorts into boardroom and non-executive level positions. The BACK2ACTIVE program alone has delivered over 1,600 fitness sessions to more than 17,000 participants, offering activities ranging from Bollywood dance to kickboxing.

Sporting Equals 2026: Peloton Presents the Gamechanger Award
Peloton’s most visible contribution to the 2026 evening was presenting the Peloton Gamechanger Award to Joel Fearon. Fearon, a British sprinter who has competed at the international level, responded to the honor on Instagram, writing that receiving the award from Peloton meant a great deal not just to him but to his wife and family as well. He also thanked Sporting Equals for seeing and valuing the hard work behind the recognition.
The Peloton branding was visible throughout the venue, with the Peloton logo featured prominently on stage behind the ceremony’s presenters and honorees.

PSL Instructors in the Room
Joslyn Thompson Rule, Mila Lazar, Jeffrey McEachern, and Sam Yo attended the ceremony as representatives of Peloton. Their presence reflected the hands-on nature of the Sporting Equals relationship, which has consistently involved Peloton instructors directly rather than operating as a purely financial or branding partnership.
A Night of Historic Honors at Sporting Equals 2026
The instructor attendance and Gamechanger Award were part of an evening with no shortage of standout moments. Maro Itoje was named Sportsman of the Year for the second time, following a historic milestone in his career: becoming the first Black player to captain the British and Irish Lions. Sadia Kabeya was awarded Sportswoman of the Year, recognising her outstanding performances and continued contribution to rugby union.
Special Lifetime Achievement Awards were presented to Maggie Alphonsi, regarded as one of the most influential figures in the history of women’s rugby, and to Roland Butcher, the first Black man to play cricket for England. Sporting Equals Chair Dr. Howard Haughton noted that the awards recognize individuals and organisations who are not only succeeding at the highest level but who are also challenging systemic barriers, opening doors, and ensuring that progress in sport reflects the diversity, talent, and potential of wider communities.
