Sled Mode Brings HYROX Training Home
Sled Mode turns Peloton’s Tread+ hardware into a resistance training station, adding software-controlled weight against the belt to emulate the sled push movement used in HYROX competition and cross-training. It’s exclusive to Tread+ hardware, including the new Tread+ Vision and Peloton’s prior Tread+ models, and it requires an All-Access Membership.
The resistance ranges from 30 to 300 pounds, a span Peloton says mirrors typical HYROX sled push weights. Members activate it through a Free Mode button, then use an adjuster to set how much weight they want to push against. Unlike a motorized treadmill workout, the belt is driven entirely by the member’s own stride, so the resistance comes from the member’s effort rather than a set speed.
Dedicated Classes and Free Mode Access
Peloton built dedicated instructed classes specifically for the feature, giving members guided programming rather than leaving it purely self-directed. It’s also accessible inside Just Run sessions, so members who prefer unstructured workouts can add sled resistance without following a class format.
It’s running-workout only and doesn’t extend to walking or hiking content in this release, positioning it as a training tool for members doing structured strength or HYROX-style work rather than a general resistance feature for the broader Tread lineup.

Why Sled Mode Only Works on Tread+
The feature requires Tread+ hardware because it depends on the slat-belt deck’s ball-bearing system, which isn’t present on Tread Flex or Tread Vision. That hardware dependency is why the feature didn’t launch across the entire new Tread lineup the way ReRuns and IQ Pace Targets did.
Peloton has invested in HYROX programming for several years, including structured training programs built around the competition format. This is the first time that content strategy has translated directly into hardware, giving members a way to train the sled push at home rather than relying on gym access or a separate sled setup.
The feature goes live October 1, alongside the rest of Peloton’s new Tread software, available only to All-Access Members with Tread+ hardware, whether that’s Tread+ Vision or an earlier Tread+ model.
