Speaker 2: [00:00:00] It’s more than just your output, more than a bike

Crystal: Welcome to the Clip Out Podcast, episode 485. This is Crystal O’Keefe.

Tom: And this is Tom O’Keefe. Hi.

Crystal: Hi.

Tom: Are you ready at long last?

Crystal: Me? Oh my goodness.

Tom: We have our little run of show list, and I, uh, I forgot to share it with you. Whoops.

Crystal: Yeah.

Tom: You should be able to do this from memory. You are Clip Out Crystal.

Crystal: Well, Clip Out Crystal still has a real job. And, uh, there’s a lot going on over there, so-

Tom: Oh, goodness … sorry. [00:01:00] So I guess, I guess let’s… I got, I have no clever banter for the top.

Crystal: Okay.

Tom: But you look like you were gonna correct me.

Crystal: Well, I didn’t know if you wanted to talk about what’s gonna be on the bonus.

Crystal: I know a lot of people have had commentary. Right. I’ve, I’ve gotten some notes-

Tom: Yeah …

Crystal: about, um- Uh-oh. Am I in trouble? … Adrian Williams.

Tom: Oh, yeah.

Crystal: And, uh, so we are not gonna talk about it on the main show. That man’s been through enough.

Tom: Yeah.

Crystal: But, uh, we did have some commentary on last week’s bonus. Yes.

Crystal: And we forgot to tease it in the show. Yeah. So if you did not check out last week’s bonus-

Tom: It’s over there …

Crystal: it’s over there

Tom: It’s not related to the controversy.

Crystal: Oh, God, no. Just should specify. This is, this is, this is relationship stuff.

Tom: Yeah. It’s all over there. Yep. You wanna check it out.

Crystal: Mm-hmm.

Tom: I guess while we’re talking bonus-

Crystal: Yeah

Tom: I’ll just do it right here.

Crystal: Just get in there.

Tom: We’re gonna talk about Hannah Frankson has some, some info about, some behind-the-scenes info of her 1-3-5.

Crystal: Mm-hmm. Good.

Tom: Uh-

Crystal: Including [00:02:00] who on the Peloton team, which surprised me-

Tom: Yeah …

Crystal: helped her come up with it I thought

Tom: that was

Crystal: interesting

Tom: They just, she just loves prime numbers.

Crystal: Yes, that’s what it is. I

Tom: think that’s what it comes down to. Yes,

Crystal: definitely.

Tom: It was sponsored by Amazon. Oop, I’m giving it all away here. One of the instructor’s partners is suing Lego.

Crystal: Are they suing Lego, or was it just like-

Tom: I thought that’s what it was.

Crystal: Okay, maybe I misread.

Tom: There’s a lawsuit involving one of them and Lego.

Tom: Yes. How about that?

Crystal: Yes, and it’s kind of shockingly fascinating.

Tom: Yeah.

Crystal: Like I’m, I’m a little too invested-

Tom: Yeah …

Crystal: in like the outcome of this.

Tom: Are you conflicted because you love Peloton? But who doesn’t love Legos, until you step on one.

Crystal: It’s true. All of that is true.

Tom: Yeah.

Crystal: Um, and I mean, it’s Lego. It, it’s Lego.

Crystal: Yeah. They can get away with a lot. They can get away with a lot. Lego. In my heart.

Tom: Lego my Lego.

Crystal: [00:03:00] That’s right. That’s exactly right.

Tom: And we’re also gonna be talking about GLP-1s, the, the new version they’re working on.

Crystal: Yeah.

Tom: It’s sounds like magic.

Crystal: It does sound like magic.

Tom: Uh- It’s crazy what they’re saying the next generation of GLP-1s are going to do, and we will talk about all of that over on the bonus.

Crystal: Okay.

Tom: But I, we’re doing everything all out of order now. I

Crystal: know.

Tom: Oh, I’m gonna feel all kerfuffled- … for the whole show.

Crystal: By the way, this is the clip-out, not real spoilers, so I just thought I’d- Okay … lay the groundwork for that now.

Tom: Okay.

Crystal: Since you were already kerfuffled.

Tom: I am kerf- kerfuffled. See, I can’t even say it.

Crystal: I know.

Tom: That’s how bad it is.

Crystal: It’s,

Tom: I’m discombobulated. I need to be combobulated. I guess at this point I would be re-combobulated.

Crystal: That’s correct.

Tom: So what, pray tell- Do you have in store for people this week?

Crystal: Well, I have been saying for months that there were going to be discounts for members- Mm-hmm

Crystal: [00:04:00] whenever they had new equipment.

Tom: And you were poo-pooed.

Crystal: I w- I was, and I was correct. Just saying.

Tom: Yes.

Crystal: Uh, so we’re gonna talk about that and what those prices are and when they end, because that’s an important, very important feature.

Tom: It is important.

Crystal: Also I don’t remember if this ended up in the bonus or the original, but there…

Crystal: Th- we had some special things that happened during the instructor summit, and one of which got taken down immediately. Hmm. And w- I think it could be a new class type-

Tom: Ooh …

Crystal: coming.

Tom: Look at that.

Crystal: Uh, so I don’t know where you have it, but, uh, I-

Tom: I don’t remember.

Crystal: Okay.

Tom: Yeah.

Crystal: I think it’s in the main. Okay. Um, we’re also going to talk about the latest- What

Tom: a treat for the freelad- loaders Freeloaders.

Crystal: They’ve been supporting us for years. I know.

Tom: I’m being silly. They know how I am.

Crystal: Yeah, they do. They do.

Tom: They know not to take me seriously.

Crystal: We’re also gonna b- talk about the latest, um, the newest features that Peloton just pushed out and [00:05:00] where you can find them and which equipment you can find them on. Also Peter Stern celebrating a big milestone- Yes

Crystal: with Peloton. Not to mention, uh, but we also have a couple of places that Peloton is gonna be showing up conference-wise and where they were featured, so we’ll dig into all that. We’ve got big news in the instructor world and, um, we’re gonna talk about life updates. We’re gonna talk about The latest baby shower, not to mention who’s running Berlin Marathon, and who’s celebrating five years.

Crystal: And then of course we have a whole bunch of content coming at ya. A whole bunch. Yeah, and these will just be fast hits. Okay. Like, we’re just gonna run through them real quick. There, there’s a lot coming up that’s really special this month and next month, so we wanna make sure that people are ready to go.

Tom: Okay.

Crystal: Okay.

Tom: Well, before we get to all that, shameless plugs. Don’t forget we’re available on Spotify, iHeart, TuneIn, wherever you find a podcast you can find us. While you are there, be sure and follow us so you never miss an episode. Maybe, uh, [00:06:00] leave us a review. That’s always nice. You can also… I haven’t even looked at those in a long time.

Tom: I ask for them and then I don’t even go look at them.

Crystal: God, Tom.

Tom: What’s wrong with me?

Crystal: Well, there are probably some complaints in there anyway.

Tom: Probably. I’m too woke.

Crystal: You are.

Tom: I liked

Crystal: it better when- So am I …

Tom: I liked it better when Tom was a racist hate monger.

Crystal: Ooh, maybe I should, maybe I should tell the story of the lady I got into it with on Facebook this weekend.

Crystal: That was kind of fun.

Tom: Yeah.

Crystal: But I’ll do that on the bonus.

Tom: Yeah. So, uh, where was I at? Oh yeah, shameless plugs. You can also, uh, find us on Facebook, facebook.com/theclipout.

Crystal: Ah, you got it.

Tom: I almost didn’t. I heard.

Crystal: Got it. I heard the- Yeah … the hesitation.

Tom: Uh, while you’re there, like the page, join the group. Uh, if you would like to support us with more than just your ears, patreon.com/theclipout.

Tom: That’s the bonus we were referring to. I won’t rehash it all, but what do you get? You get, uh, you get early episodes, you get ad free episodes, you get all sorts of bonus content [00:07:00] almost every week, almost as long as the main episode. So-

Crystal: Sometimes longer.

Tom: Lots of extra stuff.

Crystal: Yes.

Tom: Lots of more silliness.

Crystal: Lots of Peloton.

Tom: So if you hate the silliness, keep your $5. Mm-hmm. You’re going to be disappointed.

Crystal: You

Tom: will. I’m just telling you right now. Yep. You’re not gonna dig it.

Crystal: You gotta love rabbit holes and, uh-

Tom: Goofiness …

Crystal: banter.

Tom: And, uh, yeah. And

Crystal: then- And Tom and Crystal.

Tom: Yeah, then all sorts of extra stuff.

Crystal: And most importantly- We don’t give you

Crystal: Peloton.

Tom: Yeah. So, uh, also, we have a newsletter. You can sign up for theclipout.com, and you can watch us on the YouTubes. There’s everything. Let’s dig in, shall we?

Crystal: We shall.

Tom: Member exclusive pricing on the new Tread lineup.

Crystal: Yes. Okay. So people got an email. Most people got an email. Mm-hmm. Yes, I realize that some of you never get emails from Peloton. I don’t know how to fix that. Yeah. I can’t, I can’t help you with that.

Tom: We are not Peloton.

Crystal: No. [00:08:00] Um, but if you did get this email, then you can have $200 off the Tread Flex- $700 off the Tread Vision-

Tom: Mm …

Crystal: and $1,400 off the Tread Vision Plus. I suspect it will never be cheaper than this. It is that is obviously only my opinion. Right. I am not promising anything. I do not know the future. I do not know what Peloton has up their sleeve.

Tom: We don’t know what Black Friday looks like.

Crystal: No. But this offer ends on November 11th. So you gotta make your decision about what you’re gonna do.

Tom: Okay.

Crystal: Okay? This is only for people who already are a member. This, you cannot get this deal.

Tom: Can app users get it?

Crystal: No.

Tom: Okay. Well, you said member- Sorry … and app users

Crystal: are

Tom: members.

Crystal: You know, I, I did say member, and in my head I was thinking all access membership.

Crystal: Like you have to- Right … own equipment. But I will be honest, I have not dug deep into [00:09:00] that. Okay. It is completely possible-

Tom: Yeah …

Crystal: that I am wrong. Like, if you are any member, maybe that’s available to you. So I have not actually- Right … fact-checked that. ‘

Tom: Cause I will say in the earnings call, Peter Stern made it sound like it was designed for people who already have equipment.

Crystal: He did.

Tom: And- You’ve already made an equipment purchase, and so they’re going to extend this offer to you as someone who has already spent money on hardware.

Crystal: Yeah.

Tom: Um, and so to s- to soften the blow of the new lineup, right?

Crystal: That was definitely my impression,

Tom: yes. And so I wasn’t sure if it, you know, they cast the net wide.

Crystal: If it’s also includes app members, I have not seen one way or another.

Tom: Okay.

Crystal: So I do not know.

Tom: And just another thought, something I suggested to you I’m no clip on crystal, but this is where my head went.

Crystal: Okay.

Tom: If you’re unsure-

Crystal: Mm-hmm …

Tom: about the Black- what the Black Friday deals might look like-

Crystal: Wait till November

Tom: wait until you’re within 30 days of Black Friday, ’cause historically, again, we cannot promise you this, but historically, if [00:10:00] better deals have rolled out within 30 days they’ve honored that pricing and just made adjustments.

Crystal: Yeah.

Tom: So.

Crystal: I’m also I am thinking that due to the, the fact that Con- Peloton considers me part of the press now-

Tom: Mm-hmm

Crystal: I might be getting a loaner-

Tom: Ooh …

Crystal: of the Tread Vision.

Tom: Oh.

Crystal: And I specifically did the Vision because I have the Tread Plus and I wanted to compare Apple’s- Apples to

Tom: apples …

Crystal: well, apples to oranges- Oh … specifically because it’s so much cheaper to get the Tread than it is the Tread Plus, and I wanted to know how much better the cushion is.

Crystal: I’ve run on a Tread-

Tom: Right …

Crystal: like a regular Tread- Mm-hmm … and I would like to know what that cushioning difference is because I will probably be investing in a new treadmill, and I wanted to know. Like I already know Tread Plus is top of the line-

Tom: Right …

Crystal: cushion. What is it like on a regular Tread?

Tom: If you saved a little money- Yeah

Tom: how much of a sacrifice are you making?

Crystal: I, I wanted to know.

Tom: Sure.

Crystal: So if I get that loaner, you guys will be hearing lots about it [00:11:00] and, uh, I will be doing videos and all kinds of things. I’m really excited about this. I feel like it’s, it’s a really cool deal, so.

Tom: Yeah. And, uh, Rebecca Kennedy was doing a Tread Flex shoot.

Crystal: Uh, she was. There was actually quite a bit. Every single Peloton instructor that had anything to do, has anything to do with the Tread has been trying this out- Mm-hmm … and they’ve been posting their own little videos about it. So this was one of them. But she, uh, is specifically one of the instructors that are in it, that is in the campaign.

Crystal: So she was doing the behind-the-scenes Tread Flex shoot of like- Right … getting to be the commercial of it. Gotcha. Um, and so that’s what she was posting about, so that’s really cool.

Tom: You have to say behind the scenes. You can’t say BTS anymore ’cause all the kids get excited.

Crystal: Uh, yeah.

Tom: They get confused. I

Crystal: don’t think we have a lot of kids listening-

Tom: Because they’re like-

Crystal: to this episode though … “

Tom: Where’s my K-pop?”

Crystal: That’s right.

Tom: Yeah.

Crystal: Yeah.

Tom: Also, as we gear up for the new tread lineup- Mm-hmm … uh, it, the new treads will do new things- Mm-hmm … and some of the old treads will also do new [00:12:00] things. Yeah. And we’re seeing that roll out.

Tom: It’s run analysis And sled mode, just in time for Christmas.

Crystal: Yeah.

Tom: You can be a reindeer. Reindeer burn.

Crystal: Reindeer burn. That’s right. Uh, so sled mode is available on any Tread+, all the way going back to my original. Mm-hmm. It is on there. I used it this weekend. Dear God, my legs were shredded. Yeah. I was shocked that I could push up to 150 pounds.

Tom: Yeah.

Crystal: I was real sorry I did- … after I did, but I did do it. And, uh, that’s really cool. Now, you can only do that on a Tread+, so it’s gotta be the kind that has a slat with the ball bearings underneath. So if you don’t have the slat treadmill of any kind, you do not have access to this, period.

Tom: Okay.

Crystal: Now, the run analysis, uh, that has to have a camera on it. So if you have a cross-training Tread with a camera on it, then you can get the run analysis.

Tom: Okay.

Crystal: Um, but it has to have the cr- the camera. So even though I have a Tread+, I do not have run analysis- Gotcha … um, because mine [00:13:00] doesn’t have the special camera on it- Right

Crystal: that you need. However, uh, the IQ pace target. So there’s pace targets that have existed, but now there’s going to be IQ pace targets. Everybody with Treads gets those. Okay. In fact, I heard yesterday people even on the app have those. Hmm. I haven’t figured out how to use those because I don’t, I don’t use the app for pace targets, but, uh, somebody told me that’s a thing.

Crystal: I don’t know. So I have not confirmed that on my own, but I was pretty excited about that because the pace targets allow you to really personalize your workout. And so anybody, whether you’re fast or slow, can take the same class, and what the IQ pace targets do is they dial it in even more than that to be able to say, okay, y- h- your range for easy is, let’s say, 3.5 to 4.

Crystal: And then the IQ pace targets are like, “Okay, you’ve been doing this. Let’s, let’s ratchet it up.” It’s almost like Tonal does- Right … with, like, adding a d- uh, a pound of- Adding

Tom: a pound-

Crystal: Mm-hmm … to

Tom: your weight

Crystal: lifting, yeah. This adds just a little bit, and that means that you’re gonna be able [00:14:00] to really see those improvements with your pace target.

Crystal: So that’s really cool.

Tom: Gotcha. So I have a question about sled mode.

Crystal: Okay.

Tom: So you said it’s available only on Tread+. Is that true for the new Tread lineup too? It’s only a Tread+

Crystal: or- Yes, it’s gotta be… and that’s why I specifically said- Okay … the ones with the slats. Okay. It’s gotta be the slats on the ball bearing.

Crystal: So none of the other treadmills have it. It’s only the plus.

Tom: Even in the new lineup?

Crystal: Correct. Okay.

Tom: I know, I’m

Crystal: just clarifying. Because it’s the only one with the slats- Yeah, yeah … that has the ball bearings.

Tom: I didn’t know if with the new technology, if, like, there was- Mm-mm … a way to do it on the- Nope. So I was just making sure, you know.

Crystal: I just had already answered it.

Tom: Yeah.

Crystal: But I know how, uh, people listen-

Tom: Yeah …

Crystal: so.

Tom: Including me.

Crystal: Exactly. Yeah.

Tom: I’m a slice of the public. I’m a little microcosm. I’m like a one-man- marketing survey

Crystal: Sometimes the, the helper bees really get cracked up at my comments because, uh, here’s just a microcosm of what my Facebook looks like.

Tom: Yeah.

Crystal: Post an article about an- a, a feature, and then they say, “Well, how do you get that?” And [00:15:00] I said, “Did you read the article?” “What article?” “This entire post- … is about the article. Like, I don’t even under- what are you even looking at- Oh … that you don’t know that this is an article? I-

Tom: It re- yeah, it reminds me when we used to do garage sales in the parking lot at the arena, and I would put out a press release that would explain everything, and then people would call me and read me back the press release in the form of a question.

Crystal: Right. “

Tom: It says we get three parking spots. So is that, like, a total of three?” What? “Yeah, it’s three. It’s one, two, three. Like, that’s… Yeah.” “Okay. So, but like, like in a row-” They’re, they’re consecutive … like in a row? Like, they’re all next to each other?” “Well, what the… What do you think we’re try-” Oh, man.

Crystal: Ugh. I know.

Tom: Yeah.

Crystal: I know. “

Tom: It says it happens rain or shine, but, like, what happens if it rains, though?” You’ll be very, very wet. Is what I’ll be when this conversation is over. Peter Stern [00:16:00] celebrating 10 years with Peloton. How can that be true? He’s only been there for, like, eight months.

Crystal: It… That’s true. That is true. Uh, uh, he’s actually been there over a year now, which is crazy all by itself.

Tom: Yeah.

Crystal: But specifically, this is… He is 10 years as a Peloton member.

Tom: He got me.

Crystal: I know. Yeah. I know. It’s, uh, it’s funny ’cause he told me about this in the elevator when we were… When I was in New York. Yeah When I… That was, like, the one thing we got to talk about before- Yeah … the subject changed. But, uh, yeah, he was excited about it.

Crystal: And you know, I feel really dumb because you know how sometimes time goes really fast and, like, you kind of forget that a milestone has passed?

Tom: Mm-hmm.

Crystal: So kid you not, this is embarrassing, but I’m just gonna tell people anyway.

Tom: Yeah.

Crystal: I was like, “It’s my 10 years too. My 10 years is coming up in July.”

Crystal: And he was like, “Like July of ’27?” And I was like, “No, July of ’26.” And he’s like…

Tom: He’s like, “

Crystal: Girl.” “It’s September.” It’s

Tom: September.

Crystal: And I was like, “Oh, yeah.”[00:17:00]

Crystal: “Hello, nice to meet you, Peter Stern.” Yes. “I’m a ditz.” I was real embarrassed, yeah. Quickly change the subject. But anyway…

Tom: He’s gonna get you a calendar for Christmas.

Crystal: A circle- I don’t think Peter Stern’s gonna even think about me for Christmas … circle

Tom: July- … 26th. So, the Instructor Summit occurred.

Crystal: It did.

Tom: Yeah?

Crystal: Yeah, so, well, specifically the New York one. We’ll be hearing about this soon again for the London crowd. Right. Okay, so this is only for the New York crowd. Back in the day, they used to have everybody together,

Tom: but- Right …

Crystal: kind of just- That got

Tom: too expensive …

Crystal: it does get- Yeah … very expensive. But, uh, yeah, the instructors all posted, uh, they had all kinds of really fun things that happened.

Crystal: Uh, lots of instructors posted pictures together, and I, I really do love seeing who blends with who.

Tom: Yeah.

Crystal: Uh, one of their guest speakers has three Olympic gold medals. They all had new Peloton apparel on. Mm-hmm. [00:18:00] And then there was also a deleted reel. Oh, yeah. Uh, and now I tell you that because our bonus listeners already know about this- Yes

Crystal: uh, ’cause we talked about it last week. But, um, by the way, I didn’t say who the Olympic gold was, but, uh, that would be Kara Lawson.

Tom: Okay.

Crystal: Okay. Uh, that was the guest speaker. So going back to this deleted reel. So one of the instructors, and I can’t even remember who, because it never occurred to me it was gonna be deleted.

Tom: Right.

Crystal: I so I didn’t- You never know … I did not pay attention. One of the instructors posted a reel that had all of the instructors taking a class together. Mm-hmm. That’s not unusual. Right. What was unusual is that there were bikes and treadmills in the same class. Hmm. The, the caption on it said something about a hybrid class.

Tom: Yeah.

Crystal: Now, the fact that it had, uh, one instructor teaching two modalities at the same time is very fascinating. [00:19:00] Added to the fact that particular reel was taken down in less than 10 minutes- … makes me think it is at least possible we are going to be seeing a new class type of hybrid classes, and I am so freaking here for that.

Tom: Yeah.

Crystal: Like, how fun would that be? I miss… I love all the bike people, but I run, and so I don’t get- Right … to, I don’t get to take the class anymore.

Tom: Right.

Crystal: It’s a little sad.

Tom: And you also, you always struggle with, like, w- how to strike a balance. Yes. So if they had classes like this, that would, I would think, help

Crystal: in that regard.

Crystal: I would think, too, because then it’s like you could… Because then it’s y- you can take the class in either direction. Right. So you could, you could, one time you could take it as a tread class. Another time you could take it as a bike class. Yeah. Like, it’s, it’s really nice flexibility. Yeah. I really like it.

Crystal: So- We will see what happens. I’m excited about it.

Tom: Precor and Peloton for Business they’re gonna be making some appearances at some upcoming conferences, it says.

Crystal: Yeah. Yes, they are. And this is specifically in [00:20:00] Malta.

Tom: Ooh, fancy.

Crystal: I know, right?

Tom: There were two, right? There was-

Crystal: Yeah …

Tom: the W3 Hospitality thing, and then- Well,

Crystal: it’s, that’s at the Hilton Malta.

Tom: Um- Oh, I thought there were two. Okay, sorry.

Crystal: No, I think, I think you are right. It was listed as two things, but- Yeah … but this, it’s the W3 Hospitality-

Tom: Ah …

Crystal: E-M-E-A at Hilton Malta, which is taking place right now. Um, and it’s going to put the commercial business side of things in front of hotel and hospitality professionals which is pretty exciting because they just opened the doors on c- the Commercial Series.

Crystal: I know the Commercial Series kind of, like, got announced and then we stopped talking about it.

Tom: Right.

Crystal: But this is a big deal for Peloton, I think, because I think that this has a really big potential to boost their sales and really help out the company. I feel like they should’ve been doing this whole time.

Crystal: But anyway.

Tom: Agreed. We’ve always wondered why they were kinda weird about it. And, like, as much as we love Foley, that was kind of a Foley thing.

Crystal: W- well, [00:21:00]

Tom: that- ‘Cause he was the one that was like- Yeah, no,

Crystal: that’s

Tom: true … take them out of apartments and, you know.

Crystal: It, yes, and when they bought Precor, that was during COVID times, and the focus on buying Precor at the time was all about distribution.

Tom: Yeah.

Crystal: Uh, it was not really about, it was not really about, like, having-

Tom: Brand extension.

Crystal: Mm-mm.

Tom: Yeah.

Crystal: No. And so it kinda languished after- Yeah … COVID with all the changes, and so this is going to be the first time we are going to see Commercial Series bike and treadmills built for the purpose of being in these facilities, and I’m really hoping it does well.

Crystal: I’m-

Tom: Yeah, like, as Peloton sorts, extends its tentacles more and more into apartments and hotel spaces, it just makes it so much more the obvious choice of, “Well, I might as well sign up for the thing that I’m gonna be able to find everywhere.” The same way people pick Apple, right? Yeah. They’re just like, “Well, I just know it’ll work with everything.

Tom: I don’t wanna have to think about it.” And it’s like, “Well, I’m on the road. I can see that 80% of the hotels I’m going to already have Peloton equipment. [00:22:00] Okay, I’ll just do that.”

Crystal: Yeah.

Tom: You know? So-

Crystal: Absolutely …

Tom: just makes that choice that much easier. Frictionless, as they say.

Crystal: That’s exactly, that is what they say.

Tom: In boardrooms everywhere. Pel- speaking of corporate speak- … let’s talk about some C-suite people. Okay. Peloton’s chief people officer Dalaina Brand-

Crystal: Mm-hmm …

Tom: was honored by AfroTech.

Crystal: Yeah, she was part of the, uh, class of 2026 Future 50. Uh, so there’s 50 honorees over five different categories, and she was one of the people.

Tom: Awesome.

Crystal: That was- What is honored? W- Honored. My brain just broke. Like, it was like what? What are we doing?

Tom: My brain broke ’cause I’m like, well, but it’s not the future, it’s right now- … and you just did it, so that means it’s the past. Oh,

Crystal: no. Well, they’re innovators. They’re innovators, so.

Tom: So no pressure.

Crystal: Right. Innovate. But

Tom: whatever you’ve done up till now, not good enough. They’re expecting you to do even more.

Tom: Peloton’s COO

Crystal: Yes

Tom: He’s a pigeon.

Crystal: Coo. [00:23:00]

Tom: Coo. Charles Kirrol?

Crystal: Kirrol. That’s how-

Tom: Kirrol …

Crystal: I don’t know. I think it’s actually pronounced Kirrol.

Crystal: Okay. But, but it shouldn’t be- Yeah … in my head, so I just pronounce it Kirrol. Okay. I don’t know. I don’t know. I’m

Tom: just gonna call him Chuck. Yeah. Uh, he’s retiring from the Navy.

Crystal: He is, yeah. And-

Tom: Don’t blame him.

Crystal: No comment. He has been in the US Navy and Navy Reserve for 40 years.

Tom: Wow.

Crystal: That’s a long time.

Crystal: That’s- A lot of people in the service will, will retire- ‘Cause- … after 25 …

Tom: because you can then- Get

Crystal: all your

Tom: whole

Crystal: benefits … the private sector,

Tom: you get your y- you know, like, it makes a lot of financial sense, so to stick around that long-

Crystal: Mm-hmm …

Tom: says a lot about leaving now.

Crystal: Yeah.

Tom: Charles, don’t… Yeah. Anyway.

Crystal: So he says he’s thankful to have found the same purpose that he has had in the naval service with his team at Peloton Interactive, and, uh, he says, “The uniform and the mission are different, but the fundamentals endure.

Crystal: Be brilliant at the basics, lead with empathy, keep moving forward, and never forget [00:24:00] that success belongs to the team,” which I definitely agree with. So- He

Tom: must really like to row- … ’cause he’s in the Navy. You can’t ride a bike on water, unless you’re Jesus. Jesus could ride a bike on water.

Crystal: I thought he could just walk on water.

Crystal: Well- I know he could ride bikes, too …

Tom: I’m assuming- I guess … bikes didn’t exist yet, but I’m assuming if you could walk on water, you could ride your bike on water. I

Crystal: think that’s a fair assumption.

Tom: It seems like a transitive property.

Crystal: It does.

Tom: Ooh, trans-

Crystal: ooh.

Tom: Speaking of he, he was in the Navy f- for 40 years.

Tom: Mm-hmm. Next week-

Crystal: Mm-hmm …

Tom: 10 days, I will have been at my job for 20 years.

Crystal: That’s honestly incredible for s- so many reasons.

Tom: Is it incredible or is it a little sad?

Crystal: No, it’s incredible- … because, a- and here’s why. Like, like the fact that you were able to, you’ve been able to make a career out of pop culture and music and like a good career, not like a career- Suck it,

Tom: Mom and Dad.

Crystal: I mean, genuinely. Yeah. That’s really cool. I, [00:25:00] I… it’s such a niche thing that you do. And you truly love your job, so it’s, it’s not sad. You know what’s sad is staying in a job for 20 years that you hate.

Tom: For sure.

Crystal: That is sad. For

Tom: sure.

Crystal: I understand why people do-

Tom: Yeah …

Crystal: but it, it make, it crushes your soul. It does.

Crystal: And that’s what I mean about sad. Yeah. Yeah. So I think the fact that you’ve been there for 20 years is freaking awesome.

Tom: It only dents my soul.

Crystal: Just a little bit.

Tom: Yeah. And, uh, wrapping up for this segment real quick, just a reminder, PSNY closed for maintenance on October 8th. There won’t be any live classes.

Tom: Please freak out accordingly on the OPP.

Tom: And on second thought, we’re not wrapping up ’cause I forgot a line item. I just glossed right by it. Peloton Apparel is dropping a new running line.

Crystal: Yeah, it’s

Tom: the- There it is over there, right next to you.

Tom: Right

Crystal: there. Right there.

Tom: Oh,

Crystal: I almost pulled my headphones right off. Uh, yes, it is the new Pace Form running line, and, uh, they have redesigned it for the fall of 2026 to have all the details that you need in [00:26:00] your materials- Mm-hmm … for running specifically.

Tom: Yeah.

Crystal: And so you wanna check that out ASAP.

Crystal: I, uh, I will tell you this, I, I have not checked out the Pace Form, which is specific to running, but I have checked out the Fall Cadent line and the Cadent leggings are, like, soft as soft can be. Yeah. In fact, they really remind me of Soul Fire leggings, for those of you who remember the past collaborations.

Crystal: That’s old school. I, I, uh, I think that you should check it out.

Tom: Okay.

Crystal: All right.

Tom: Coming up after this, speaking of things you should check out-

Crystal: Yes …

Tom: not only should you check out these wonderful deals and products we’re about to tell you about- … but you should also check out instructors in the news. We’ve gonna, we’re gonna talk baby showers.

Crystal: Mm-hmm.

Tom: Uh, which is weird. I thought you should bathe them.

Crystal: It’s true. You should bathe them.

Tom: We’ve got, uh, Jeffrey McEachern and Eric Yeager, what they’re up to and who’s celebrating five years, so stick around.

[00:27:00]

Tom: matty Maggiacomo had a baby shower. He did. And his husband.

Crystal: Yes, Evan. Yeah. And, uh, I thought this was really cute because Travis and Matty have been friends for a really long time. Travis was a longtime employee of Peloton- Mm-hmm … and he only left last year.

Tom: Yeah.

Crystal: And, uh, he is the one that had the shower for them- Yeah … which I just thought was amazing because he was like, “I had my face- my first baby shower, and I rocked it.” I thought it was so cute. There were some really fun details that they posted, including details about the surrogate, and I think probably a little bit of a hint about baby names- Mm-hmm

Crystal: and we will talk about that over in the bonus. Ooh. Yes.

Tom: Okay. Jeffrey McEachern or McEachern, depending on who’s talking-

Crystal: Mm-hmm …

Tom: and Eric Jaeger are gonna be running the Berlin Marathon.

Crystal: Yeah, and the Berlin lottery is open right now for 2027. So they are going to be running it [00:28:00] and, uh, they’re also…

Crystal: Jeffrey is going to be doing a 30-minute shakeout run live on October 3rd. And according to his account, that’s the first time he’s ever done a live shakeout run.

Tom: Huh.

Crystal: I was surprised.

Tom: Yeah. It’s counterintuitive.

Crystal: It is, yeah. Yeah.

Tom: Camilla Ramon is celebrating five years with Peloton.

Crystal: Yep. October 5th was the official five-year date and, uh, if you I think it’s already too late, but the, uh, her, her fan group, Mila Mafia- Yeah

Crystal: they set up a Kudo board that members could sign up and leave messages- Aw … for Camilla, which I think is really sweet.

Tom: That’s very nice.

Crystal: Yeah.

Tom: Does she get a greatest hits class?

Crystal: She does, yeah. Collection is up. Okay. So if you wanna check out, they usually put around 50 classes. Mm-hmm. Around, you know, depends on the instructor and- Sure

Crystal: uh, how many classes they’ve taught, but you usually get about 50 in the collection, so definitely check that out.

Tom: It is time [00:29:00] for the TCO Top Five. We put out the eagle call- … and you responded with your favorite classes, and now here are five of them.

Crystal: Yes.

Tom: Did I do that-

Crystal: Yeah, you got it …

Tom: did I get out of-

Crystal: Nailed it.

Tom: Okay. Your favorite Power Zone Endurance ride.

Crystal: So Sam Yo- So, so, so.

Crystal: So Sam Yo. I don’t know. Sorry. He t- he taught this class- Was Jay over

Tom: there?

Crystal: No. On September 28th. It’s a 45-minute Power Zone Endurance ride. Karen Bensley, uh, nominated this class, and she said, “Hey, I always look forward to Sam Yo’s Power Zone rides,” and this particular one was great. The structure was eight-minute zone three blocks alternating with four-minute zone two blocks for true endurance training.

Crystal: Perfect for Karen as she headed out this past weekend for a 40-mile trail ride in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Music was perfectly paired. Long blocks and had the rock pop combos, and the rest blocks were wonderful Dolly Parton [00:30:00] country. Unique combo that worked well. As always, Sam encouraged, coached, and challenged us well.

Crystal: More, please.

Tom: Hannah Frankson has a 135 ride. He’s got a 925 ride.

Crystal: Well, it was, it was on 928, but yes.

Tom: Well, ’cause he did the Dolly

Crystal: Parton.

Crystal: I know. Oh. I was joking. I

Tom: Number two. Your favorite endurance walk.

Crystal: Okay, so this was taught by Kirsten Ferguson on August 5th, so we’re going back just a smidge.

Tom: Yeah.

Crystal: And it was a 45-minute endurance walk. Sandra Bloom is the one who nominated it, and she said she loved this class. It was 45 minutes of pure fun, and it was more like a karaoke class than a walking class. Her music selection was impeccable, and the walk was straightforward. Take this class and sing your heart out.

Tom: Number three, your favorite theme ride.

Crystal: Deborah Anzalone nominated this class, and, uh, Deborah, side note, been thinking about you. Just wanted you to know that. Um, there is … She nominated … I made a [00:31:00] choice here.

Tom: Right.

Crystal: She nominated the most recent Yacht Rock and Mix Tape rides, and I just chose to highlight the 45-minute Yacht Rock ride from September 20th.

Tom: Okay.

Crystal: So Deborah said she had her second hip replaced on September 1st, and that she has really enjoyed Jen Sherman’s recent Yacht Rock and Mix Tape rides. It felt really good to be back in the saddle. She is now bionic. Congrats.

Tom: Uh, number four, your favorite live DJ run.

Crystal: Okay, so

Tom: Adrian- There’s a lot to unpack in that picture.

Crystal: There is. There is. I know. I love this picture though. Yeah, it’s funny. Uh, it’s silly and great. Uh, so Adrian Williams taught this class on October 2nd, and it was a live DJ run, so of course DJ John Michael was there. 30, 30 minutes, and Cindy Bentz is the one who nominated it, and she said, “30-minute live DJ run, Adrian Williams.

Crystal: What a hoot with live DJ. Add point one, no questions, just direction. LOL, nice [00:32:00] challenge.”

Tom: Okay. Finally, the one you’ve been waiting for, the one you love but fear

Tom: A class so difficult you dare not stack it. We call it an unstackable. This week, it’s an intervals run.

Crystal: It is, and it was a 30-minute intervals run taught by Mariana Fernandez. Now, there’s a couple reasons that I chose this. First of all, the unstackable is kind of my favorite every week.

Tom: Yeah.

Crystal: But Larry Lewis nominated this, and he knows how to manipulate me because-

Crystal: it’s about Mariana, and she’s my favorite, so, so this got top billing for a number of reasons. It’s a long one, so bear with me. “My class pick of the week is Mariana’s 30-minute intervals run from 924, but I’m gonna come at it from a different angle on this one. As usual, the class plan was perfect, doable for beginner, beginners, but challenging at higher pace targets.

Crystal: Great music. We got some Miley, Madonna, and Mariana’s husband who doesn’t [00:33:00] know it, Ricky Martin.” And what made this… She’s always doing that. “What made this stand out to me was it being my first time in studio with Mariana. Her kindness and warmth were beyond what everyone has said about her. She knew me from the leaderboard and Instagram, but when she walked by us in the hallway on her way to get ready and realized who I was, she gave me three hugs, hugs and asked me for a picture because of my shirt.

Crystal: She asked me for a picture. And the way she lets everyone talk to her one-on-one after the class for as long as we want, that’s t- something truly special. She doesn’t have to do that, but she does it to make us feel a true sense of community and belonging. Anyone who does not regularly take her classes, you don’t know what you’re missing.

Crystal: Class is a 10 out of 10, but Mariana is 100 out of 10 person.” And he’s freaking right, and she deserves all the kudos- … because she is an amazing person.

Tom: Okay. Well, coming up after this Speaking of amazing-

Crystal: Yeah …

Tom: it’s time for some amazing commercials.

Crystal: All right.

Tom: And, uh, but on the other side of those commercials, we’re gonna [00:34:00] talk about a countdown to Turkey Burn.

Tom: It’s almost that time of year.

Crystal: Mm-hmm.

Tom: We’ve got This Week at Peloton, we’ve got Power Zone endurance rides, and an instructor with a new signature series. So join us, won’t you?

Tom: peloton has added language labels to make things super easy to suss out. Now, this isn’t did they cuss.

Crystal: No. It’s different languages they’re speaking in. Yes. So, it’s a very minor change. A lot of people aren’t even gonna notice it. But what they did is they added it next to the instructor’s name.

Crystal: So it’ll read the name and then the language that they’re te- they’re teaching in, which makes it easy at a glance to see which language they’re teaching in. Sure. And I would also highly recommend that you make sure your subtitles are on. If you wanna take a class in English… or excuse me, if you wanna take a class, let’s say a German class, but you only speak English, make sure your subtitles are on.

Crystal: Mm-hmm. Because if the subtitles are available in English, you will be able to still take that class and see the subtitles- Gotcha … even if you can’t understand what they’re saying.

Tom: [00:35:00] Right.

Crystal: So, I highly recommend that you do that. And branch out. Take the German instructors. Yeah. Take the Spanish-speaking instructors.

Crystal: They’re amazing, and they deserve all of the kudos, too. They don’t, they do not get enough love from the community. They get overlooked. Right. And whatever we can do to lift them up, we will do.

Tom: You know, I do wonder if this is indicative of either more

Crystal: Out of battery

Tom: Your coffee.

Crystal: Yeah.

Tom: I do wonder if this is maybe indicative of more classes in other languages coming, or maybe even additional languages coming, that they wanna make it very easy to suss out which language a class is in because you’re about to get more.

Crystal: I don’t know. But, you know, a few weeks ago we talked about the fact that Matt was in Berlin- Mm-hmm … and there was supposed to be a big announcement. There never was an announcement.

Tom: Yeah.

Crystal: It never happened. I don’t know if he just got a week ahead of the big Tread announcement or what. Yeah. I don’t know.

Crystal: But, [00:36:00] um, I thought it was interesting, and so I like where your head’s at.

Crystal: And it could be true.

Tom: So, Andy Spears is doing a countdown to Turkey Burn.

Crystal: Yes. Well, it’s not just Andy Spears. There will be more instructors than this. But what we do know is that this class is the one showing up first on the schedule.

Crystal: So just, this is more to just let people know. People loved the countdown to Turkey Back- Mm … Burn last year. Yeah. And it’s back. It’s coming back. So very exciting. Starting soon. Actually, it already started, so get in there.

Tom: Turn off the show right now.

Crystal: Just go.

Tom: Go do it.

Crystal: Go.

Tom: Uh, Rad Lopez has launched a new signature series.

Crystal: Yes. It is called Dirty 30.

Tom: Oh, goodness. With how many Rs? I mean, that makes a big difference.

Crystal: It does. Well, he only put one in his.

Tom: Okay. Phew.

Crystal: Uh, this launches on October 10th, 9:30 AM Eastern and, uh, that’s when the first class [00:37:00] is gonna go live. He previewed the class during his October 2nd bike boot camp.

Crystal: He let everybody know it’s going to focus on metabolic conditioning and cardiovascular endurance, and he described it as one of his favorite ways to train. I hear, ugh.

Tom: Yeah.

Crystal: Metabolic conditioning. I know we all need it, but God I hate it so much. It’s like the worst.

Tom: Eric Yeager has a 120-minute power zone endurance ride on the schedule, and there’s no help.

Tom: It’s just all Eric all the time.

Crystal: It’s just all Eric. Yes. That’s gonna be on… It’s, first of all, it’s gonna be in German and it is November 2nd at noon. Apparently he does one of these about once a year.

Tom: Mm-hmm.

Crystal: So, but that is a lot of, that’s a lot of Eric. Yeah. That’s a lot of anybody, one person.

Tom: Yeah, two hours all by your lonesome.

Crystal: ‘Cause a lot of times when they have these 120s they pair them up, so. Right. So good luck to you, Eric. I, I’m impressed that you can do two hours. That’s like a radio show.

Tom: At, as, uh, someone pushing [00:38:00] 60, I’m impressed you can go that long without peeing

Crystal: You know that’s true, you know. First of all, you’re not pushing 60.

Crystal: I feel like you have a ways to go before we need to say that.

Tom: 56.

Crystal: Yeah, I mean, you got at least-

Tom: I’m on the other side of 55.

Crystal: Yeah, give it another year or two. So that’s pushing

Tom: 60.

Crystal: Yeah. Or whatever. Uh, second of all I will say sitting down for me is easier- Yeah … to ignore that. But I guess you could wear Depends and nobody would even know-

Crystal: on the bike.

Tom: Maybe you’re sweating it out so fast-

Crystal: That’s true …

Tom: it offsets.

Crystal: I will say I did have that experience in the, the marathon.

Tom: Yeah.

Crystal: Um, but then, yeah. But you’re drinking too, so I don’t know.

Tom: Who’s to say?

Crystal: Yeah.

Tom: Take a quick look at this week at Peloton. All sorts of stuff.

Crystal: Yeah, I’m just gonna hit the highlights.

Crystal: Um- Hit ’em. There is going to be a brand-new hiking boot camp, which people love. Mm-hmm. So wanna make sure people see that. There’s also gonna be a brand-new Pilates class with Ash. She’s only had a few of these. Th- her f- this is going to be a 15-minute Pilates Express and it’s, There’s also [00:39:00] going to be a 20-minute Pilates drop and a new meta meditation with Aditi.

Tom: Tim Robards has two two-for-ones coming up, which means they’re… It’s a four for two.

Crystal: So Tim Robards, I I still think they filmed all of these at the same time- Yeah … and they’re still parsing them out. But there’s going to be a new two-for-one with Sam Yo. And then there is also a two-for-one body s- full-body stretch with Jocelyn Thompson Rule.

Crystal: Both of these dropped on 10/2, so they’re out there and you can go check ’em out.

Tom: And there are Austropop classes for Austria National Day. Yes. Now, it’s got an, an actual name. It’s like Farbig Nugen or something.

Crystal: Well, I know that we will butcher it- Yeah … so we’re just gonna call it Austria National Day.

Tom: It’s like, uh… But I guess it translates into Austria National Day. I looked it up ’cause I was like, “What a boring name for a holiday. Like, what does that even mean?” And then I was like, “Oh, we… [00:40:00] We’re translating it from Austrian or German or something.”

Crystal: Exactly.

Tom: But it celebrates the day that Austria declared themselves basically neutral, that they-

Crystal: Hmm.

Tom: It was 1955, it’s coming out of World War II, and they were like, “We don’t wanna be part of any of this bullshit anymore.”

Crystal: Dude.

Tom: They should call it No More Bullshit Day.

Crystal: I like that.

Tom: That I, I would g- I would celebrate.

Crystal: That alone makes me want to like- Move

Tom: to Austria? …

Crystal: flee to Austria. Yeah. Yeah. So it’s October 26th.

Crystal: There are gonna be two classes. Both are gonna be live that day. There’s gonna be a 15-minute Austropop core strength with Asal. That’s gonna be at 9:00 AM. And then there’s gonna be a 30 mi- minute Austropop ride with Erik at 6:00 PM.

Tom: And that’s also my mother’s birthday.

Crystal: Aw. Yeah.

Tom: So yeah, No Bullshit Day.

Tom: That makes sense.

Crystal: It does.

Tom: That makes total sense. So, uh, Peloton is celebrating German Unity Day.

Crystal: Yes. That’s what we’re gonna call it. And it’s gonna have all the German [00:41:00] instructors. There’s gonna be a class. It’s gonna be a 30-minute walk. It’s gonna be… Well, it’s on demand. Uh, it’s been up since October 1st, but it has all the German instructors, and if you take it, you get your own special badge- Ooh

Crystal: for German Unity Day.

Tom: Look at that.

Crystal: Yeah.

Tom: Over in the UK, they’re celebrating Black History Month. Just a reminder, theirs is at a different time of year than ours.

Crystal: That’s right, it is. And, um, there’s a ton of classes in October. There’s gonna be a two-for-one strength with Hannah and Jermaine, an R&B ride with Leanne, Afro beats with Cliff.

Crystal: There’s gonna be a soul full body stretch with Ben, 2000s ride with Hannah, a pop wa- pop walk with Jocelyn, dance music ride with Ally. That’s the one that Ally is going over to London to do. Okay. So she’ll be over there, and this will be when the PSL is doing their instructor summit. Mm-hmm. Okay? Because that’s why she will actually be there-

Tom: Gotcha

Crystal: and teaching that class. And then, uh, Johanna is doing a Pilates on October 23rd, [00:42:00] and then there’s also going to be a new badge for this. So 2026, there’s a new UK Black History Month badge that you can get.

Tom: There are even more Latinx Hispanic Heritage History Month… I think I added an H.

Crystal: Yeah, you did.

Tom: ‘Cause I love wrestling. I love Triple H.

Crystal: Right.

Tom: Yeah.

Crystal: Yeah. Okay. Um, there, there are. This, this week we had Iconos Latinos upper body and ride, and then there was an Iconos Latino yoga flow with Mariana. Uh, there was an EDM walk with Jess King, and a Latin pop ride with Hannah Corbin.

Tom: Nico Sirani, we talked about her being on the West Coast.

Tom: Well, she is back with live classes.

Crystal: She will be in New York from October 9th through the 25th, and she will be teaching a bunch of live classes during that time.

Tom: Sam Yo has a video store ride for you.

Crystal: It’s gonna be live, guys. Ooh. This is exciting. October 18th at 12:30 PM Eastern.

Tom: And then, uh, finally, Hannah [00:43:00] Frankson had her mat strength debut.

Crystal: She did, and, uh, we did a, we did a review of the mat strength class. Mm-hmm. And this was where she did the 30-minute UK Black History Month with, uh, Jermaine. I can’t believe it’s the first time she’s ever taught strength-

Tom: Yeah …

Crystal: because it’s, she’s only taught the bike classes. Yeah. So maybe she’ll teach more strength in the meantime.

Crystal: We don’t know. But, uh, pretty exciting and of course, we have the whole review about it and spoiler, we loved it.

Tom: And finally, we only have one birthday this week. It is Kira Michelle, and she celebrates on October 10th.

Crystal: Aw. Happy birthday.

Tom: Happy birthday.

Tom: So that brings this episode to a close. Until next week, where can people find you?

Crystal: People can find me on Facebook at facebook.com/crystaldo’keefe. They can also find me on Blue Sky Threads, Instagram, and the Peloton leaderboard @clipoutcrystal.

Tom: You sounded like one of those voicemail things.

Crystal: Beep.

Tom: Hi, I’m calling for Clip Out Crystal. You can find me on Blue Sky and Threads @tom o’keefe Jr., or on Facebook at facebook.com/tom o’keefe. I shouldn’t have to spell that for you ’cause we have the same last name. Yeah. You can also find the show online at facebook.com/theclipout.
