5 Peloton French Riviera Classes Finally Revealed

Peloton French Riviera Classes Mark First On-Location Shoot

Emma Lovewell and Katie Wang’s teased France trip becomes five Premiere classes launching August 31.

Peloton French Riviera classes are landing on the schedule starting August 31, giving members their first confirmed look at the France trip Emma Lovewell and Katie Wang teased back in May. Five Premiere titles make up the set, spanning cycling, strength, Pilates, running, and a two-instructor hike.

The classes:

  • French Riviera Ride, a 30-minute cycling class with Emma, premiering Monday, August 31 at 7:30 a.m. ET.
  • French Riviera Full Body Strength, a 20-minute strength class with Katie, follows on Tuesday, September 1 at 7:30 a.m. ET.
  • French Riviera Two for One Hike, a 20-minute walking class pairing both Emma and Katie, airs Wednesday, September 2 at 7:30 a.m. ET.
  • French Riviera Run, a 20-minute running class with Katie, premieres Thursday, September 3 at 7:30 a.m. ET.
  • French Riviera Pilates, a 30-minute class with Emma, closes the week Friday, September 4 at 7:30 a.m. ET.

All five air as Premieres in the schedule. What a fun way to kick off September!

Peloton French Riviera Classes Set Two Firsts

Two entries in the lineup of Peloton French Riviera classes carry weight beyond the shared theme. French Riviera Pilates and French Riviera Full Body Strength appear to be Peloton’s first Pilates and Strength classes filmed on location specifically for the standing class library, rather than as a studio residency or a brand activation shot on a set.

French Riviera Run marks a separate milestone. It is Katie’s first credited running class, following weeks of fan speculation this summer about which discipline she was training for.

The Côte d’Azur, the coastal region members will see across all five classes, stretches along the Mediterranean from Marseille toward the Italian border and has long served as a backdrop for European film and television production, which may explain why Peloton chose the region for its first location shoot in this format. Ooh la la!

On Location vs. Scenic Content

Peloton Scenic content, the destination rides and walks recorded as pure point-of-view footage without an instructor on camera, follows a different production model than what the Peloton French Riviera classes suggest. French Riviera Ride and French Riviera Run are each credited to a single instructor, which points toward Emma and Katie appearing on screen against the coastline rather than the format defaulting to unnarrated scenic footage.

Whether Peloton will splice in additional drone or B-roll footage of the coastline, vineyards, or countryside the instructors previously shared from the trip, or keep the classes as straightforward instructor-led sessions shot outdoors, has not been confirmed but we’re excited to see what they do.

The approach also differs from how Peloton’s German instructor team has handled its own recent travel-themed collection.  Peloton Reiselust-Woche classes built a week of destination-named classes around a shared theme without instructors traveling to film on location. The instructors taught from Peloton Studios London but narrated over footage that was displayed on member’s screens as a sort of split screen pop up here and there during the classes. The Peloton French Riviera classes appear to take the opposite route, with instructors physically present in France rather than teaching a themed class from a studio set. But how this will translate to the active classes (biking, running, hiking) versus mat-based classes remains to be seen.

What to Watch For

If the Peloton French Riviera classes were filmed entirely on location, the set of workouts would represent a shift in how the platform builds new destination content. We are so excited to see what Emma and Katie share about these classes ahead of their Premiere dates!

Will you be adding these to your schedule in September?
