Lulu Members' Weekend A Hit

First lulu Members’ Weekend at PSNY Thrills and Confuses

What’s Up With lululemon?

A whole lot- but unfortunately, we don’t have all the answers! While the first lulu “Members’ Weekend” at PSNY was a massive hit, it also sparked a lot of questions.  Join The Clip Out for a deep dive into the Pelulu partnership- the history, the fabulous weekend (which left some lulu faithful less than happy to be excluded), and a look at what we know about lulu Members’ access to Peloton classes.

Pelulu 2023

We’re nine months into the historic Peloton x lululemon partnership, which was announced late last year. You think Bridgerton did enemies-to-lovers well in its second season? Well, Peloton and lululemon are… not at all like that. In fact, they’re more like Anthony and Kate if they kept staring awkwardly at one another.

But they’re trying, and trying creatively. The collaboration kicked off by announcing Peloton ambassadors, and almost immediately planned a lululemon feature during Peloton on Tour in Chicago. While energy was high, lulu managed to concern the Peloton community when the first collaborative apparel drop was a bit limited in selection of sizes.

Pelulu 2024

While the size issue was corrected in later releases, it didn’t help when lulu founder and former CEO Chip Wilson kicked off the new year by sharing his less-than-welcoming opinions on size inclusivity, alongside other diversity, equity, and inclusion topics.

However, the next big co-branded event happened- the Move For You event in January at the Mall of America featuring instructors/ambassadors Chelsea, Adrian, and Callie. (I hope they had the parking lot of America to go with the Mall of America.) Also around the beginning of 2024, there was a lululemon challenge on the Peloton platform.

And then came the Members’ Weekend.

We Might Be Delulu……

But it sort of feels like an old-school Home Riders Invasion happened at Peloton this month. The lulu members who attended were thrilled with the bespoke classes, food, and 5K run, as well as a chance to meet instructors including Adrian, Chelsea, and Cody.

While so many comments on lulu’s Instagram reel indicated those included loved the experience, there was also some confusion.

Where Can Attendees See the Photos and Video?

Per lulu comments, they can’t- but they hope their guests are “reliving the party through personal photos and the unforgettable memories.” The Clip Out is lucky to have received pictures and footage from tipster Trish, though!

Watch til the end of this last one for a REAL insider look.

Who Was Invited?

There was a bit of controversy on this one from the commenters wanting to know how they missed the opportunity, and how they could get another chance.

Lulu’s answer was a bit all over the map:

  • “The first step is to register with our lululemon Membership program, then stay tuned to hear all about future events.”
  • “Be sure to stay tuned to our social accounts and sign up for our product notifications to ensure you’re getting all the information as it becomes available.”
  • “Invites for our Membership Weekend and Summer Series events are sent through email notifications.”
  • “Join our lululemon Membership on our website or app to learn more—we’ll see you soon.” [Note: we don’t know what that means for Android users, since as of now the app is only available for iPhones. If you’re an Android user who attended this weekend, let us know!]
  • “To find out about future offerings, sign up for your local store’s mailing list to learn about all the events coming up in your area.”
  • “We’re loving your curiosity—be sure to keep tabs on our socials for all updates.”
  • “We recommend signing up for our notification emails, as well as making sure your email communication is turned on under your profile.”
  • “Head over to our website to sign up for our community email updates.”

However, the final word from lulu made it clear there wasn’t much lulu members could have done at all:

“This was an invite-only offering that was extended to a limited group of members, please know we are grateful for your feedback. Be sure to stay tuned for future events online or in your area.”

However, there MAY be a way to see the classes offered, if you’re a lulu member and an iPhone user. See below.

What About the Non-lulu?

“Standard” Peloton members likely didn’t have access to this one because lulu footed a large part (all?) of the bill. Will we see a return of such events for the Peloton loyal? Unclear at this time, but lulu’s reel makes it clear this won’t be the last for their customer base.

So What’s a lulu Member To Do?

Download the lulu app (well, if you have an iPhone), sign in, and check out the free classes available to “Essential Members,” lulu’s free tier.  The ones available right now are “recorded live from the first-ever, sold-out Members’ Weekend”:

Note that these classes ARE also available on the usual Peloton members’ platform. The “exclusivity” (a word thrown around quite a bit in the comments) is for lulu folks, not Peloton members (then again, as we noted, Peloton members weren’t invited to the weekend- really, it’s all a bit tangled and murky.) What else is available to lulu’s Essential Members?

You may be asking… What lies beyond lulu’s Essential membership? Lululemon’s other membership tier is the All-Access Membership, associated with lululemon Studio (formerly known as Mirror)… however, it appears that while lululemon has kept All-Access active for current subscribers, it’s no longer available to new subscribers. So if you’re a lulu lover looking for more Peloton classes, consider a Peloton membership!)

More Questions Than Answers

They’re trying, y’all- the Members’ Weekend was, by all accounts, incredible. But lululemon perhaps has a ways to go on offering clarity to their members. Is it possible we haven’t heard the final word on how this partnership will work long-term… or has lulu temporarily re-deployed their web development/social media team to cleaning out the Mirror warehouse? Only time will tell.
