Transcript:

Crystal: Welcome to the Clip Out Podcast, episode 475. This is Crystal O’Keefe.

Tom: And this is Tom O’Keefe. We made it-

Crystal: We did …

Tom: through our three events in three days.

Crystal: Four days.

Tom: Four days.

Crystal: You don’t even know what day it is.

Tom: Well, we did three in four days. How can, who can keep track? One of those days was a Monday.

Crystal: I can’t believe we stayed up past our bedtime on a Monday.

Tom: Yeah.

Crystal: It was worth it.

Tom: He was g- well, we [00:01:00] saw Benson Boone, and he was great. We did,

Crystal: yeah. Yeah. It was a lot of fun. Lot of fun.

Tom: Those seats were totally worth the 54.50 I paid for them.

Crystal: Hell yeah, they were.

Tom: Yeah.

Crystal: Yeah. I s- s- And I would’ve been upset if we had paid $200 for the tickets. Like, I would’ve … i, not that he wasn’t worth it, I just- No

Crystal: I don’t wanna spend that much on a concert.

Tom: Yeah.

Crystal: You know? There’s only a few people I would spend that much on and I like Benson Boone a lot- Yeah … but I don’t wanna spend $200 on that.

Tom: You know, it was funny, we were talking after and I was saying how because of the music I tend to like-

Crystal: Mm-hmm

Tom: we see a lot of legends.

Crystal: We do.

Tom: But a lot of legends on the other end of their career trajectory. Yes. Right?

Crystal: Yes.

Tom: And so, uh, it was neat to see someone Like, at the peak of their… Now, he might get more popular. Who knows? It happens. Yeah. But but at the peak of his performance powers. Yeah. Right? Like, I, the whole time I’m watching, I was like, you know, when you’re doing a nostalgia tour-

Tom: in 25 [00:02:00] years- You’re gonna be

Crystal: regretting- … you’re gonna be like- … those back flips, buddy …

Tom: how, how am I gonna do these back flips and sing the whole time?

Crystal: Yeah, ’cause he makes it look easy. Yeah. The dude does not stop moving.

Tom: No. It’s, like, quite the aerobic workout, so.

Crystal: It is. It is. He’s g- he’s awesome. If you get a chance to go, you absolutely should go.

Crystal: It’s a lot of fun. Yeah. It’s a lot of fun. A lot of pyro, which surprisingly, it was one of the hottest days in St. Louis.

Tom: Yeah.

Crystal: Even Benson Boone commented on that. He had tried to go for a run and said- Yeah … “F that.”

Tom: Right. “

Crystal: That is not happening.”

Tom: My show is the run.

Crystal: Yeah. And, uh, and he, there was… It was so cold in there.

Crystal: It was so- It

Tom: was

Crystal: cold … cold. I don’t know how they got it that cold.

Tom: Yeah, ’cause I was on the fence about should I wear shorts to the show, and

Crystal: I was- ‘Cause we have to… And we, we like to park far away because we like to get out of the event as fast as possible.

Tom: So you’re away from the traffic.

Crystal: Yeah. There’s a

Tom: little

Crystal: tip.

Crystal: But that does mean you gotta walk a little further.

Tom: Yeah.

Crystal: And, uh, and it was so hot, and then it poured on the way there. Yeah. And it stopped just [00:03:00] in time.

Tom: Yes. The concert gods smiled upon us. They

Crystal: did. But- It was a great night.

Tom: Yeah. But there’s a little concert tip for you. Don’t, you don’t wanna park super close to the venue- Mm-mm

Tom: ’cause then you’re stuck in it when it’s over.

Crystal: Mm-hmm.

Tom: That show ended at what? Like, 10:55, and we were home by 11:30.

Crystal: Yeah. We sailed right through the traffic.

Tom: And we, and with no traffic, it’s about a 25-minute drive for us. Yeah. So, like, that was-

Crystal: We basically had no traffic.

Tom: Yeah.

Crystal: And we would’ve been home faster had we parked closer, but we didn’t.

Crystal: Yeah. And I’m glad we didn’t.

Tom: I don’t know that we would’ve been home closer.

Crystal: Right, because then-

Tom: Yeah.

Crystal: Yeah.

Tom: Yeah. So, uh, what, pray tell, do you have in store for people?

Crystal: Right, this isn’t the bonus.

Tom: Yes.

Crystal: We should stay focused. Uh, although I’m still half asleep, so good luck with being focused. We have a new lawsuit to talk about.

Crystal: Ooh. So pull out the lawsuit sweeper.

Tom: Okay.

Crystal: We’re gonna need it.

Tom: Okay.

Crystal: Uh, we’ve also, we’re gonna talk about Peloton’s next earnings call, when it is, what to expect. One of the- leaders, the C-suite. I don’t know, I guess [00:04:00] technically not a C-suite. Anyway, we’ve got a new educational track happening.

Tom: Okay.

Crystal: And, uh, some interesting notes from the CTO, not to mention lots of news from the instructors, uh, as always.

Crystal: As always. They’re always up to things.

Tom: They’re wacky.

Crystal: They’re wacky. They’re wacky. But we have some very big instructor news this week. We do. It’s, uh, it’s been a hot minute. Mm-hmm. So people are very excited. Not to mention, we have a couple of artist series updates and, uh, we have content that you’re gonna wanna hear about.

Crystal: Some very, some interesting things that hit in July, first time ever. Okay. We’ve got history in the Peloton making- Ooh.

Tom: Okay …

Crystal: something like that.

Tom: Well, before we get to all that, shameless plugs, don’t forget we’re available on Apple Podcast, Spotify, iHeart, TuneIn. Wherever you find a podcast, you can find us.

Tom: While you are there, be sure and follow us so you never miss an episode. Maybe leave us a review. It’s good for our egos, more often than not. Not always. But that’s okay. We can take it.

Crystal: We can.

Tom: And, [00:05:00] uh, you can also, uh, find us on Facebook, facebook.com/theclipout. While you’re there, like the page, join the group.

Tom: If you cannot get enough of us, if you want to support the show with more than just your ears, you may do so over on Patreon, patreon.com/theclipout. It’s only $5 a month. There are seven-day free trials. You can just kick the tires on it, download a bunch of them and listen to them and then be like, “No, thank you.”

Crystal: It’s okay. It’s okay. We can also take that. Yeah. Although, I gotta tell you, we have a lot of fun over in the Patreon. We do. And our listeners have a lot of fun, and we do a lot of commenting back and forth. It’s like a whole separate-

Tom: Little- …

Crystal: conversation happening … little

Tom: ecosystem.

Crystal: I love

Tom: it. So, uh, you get early episodes, you get ad-free episodes, and you get tons of the aforementioned bonus content an additional episode every week talking about all the stuff we didn’t have time to get to and maybe some fitness adjacent topics.

Tom: This week, we will be talking about the rise of strategic wrinkles. [00:06:00] So-

Crystal: Why would you want a strategic wrinkle?

Tom: Well, you… I’m not gonna tell you here.

Crystal: All right. All right. I’ll

Tom: wait. I’m not gonna tell you for free.

Crystal: I will wait.

Tom: God, whose side are you on?

Crystal: Mine.

Tom: A recent study shows that less sleep causes weight gain-

Crystal: I know that

Tom: but not fat.

Crystal: What?

Tom: I know.

Crystal: What?

Tom: I made the same noise.

Crystal: All right.

Tom: Also, Rebecca Kennedy talking about how much protein you actually need, ’cause- they’re putting extra protein in Doritos now.

Crystal: Well-

Tom: It’s everywhere …

Crystal: we’ll wait till we get there. I just understand that, that, like, there are different needs for different points in your life too.

Crystal: For sure. So let’s- Yeah … keep that in mind as well.

Tom: So all that and more over in the Patreon.

Crystal: Sounds like I’m gonna argue. True. I’m already ready to argue. I

Tom: know. Rawr. So, what else do I plug here? Oh yeah. The newsletter, you can sign up for it at theclipout.com where we will send you the links and whatnot, a mostly weekly reminder that we [00:07:00] exist, and then finally, don’t forget, you can watch all of these over on the YouTube, which unless you’re already on the YouTube, and then pretend like I didn’t say that.

Tom: Well, there’s all that. Let’s dig in, shall we?

Crystal: We shall.

Tom: It’s been a couple weeks since we’ve had a lawsuit, so…

Crystal: it’s been a bit since we’ve actually had anybody just flat out sue Peloton. Yeah. It’s been a hot minute.

Tom: Yeah.

Crystal: Yeah.

Tom: So we have one. They are facing a new patent lawsuit-

Crystal: They are …

Tom: over the Row.

Crystal: It’s, uh, first of all, I find it interesting. This is, this is not the first lawsuit that they have had filed against them in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas.

Crystal: Uh, that is because they have that call center in Texas. Okay. So you have to, like, there has to be a reason that

Tom: you- You have to have, like, a business l-

Crystal: Presence … presence Or, or something about the [00:08:00] presence took place there.

Tom: Yeah.

Crystal: And since they sell the, uh, what they’re filing a lawsuit against, they can do that.

Crystal: So I just-

Tom: Does that mean this Texas court is perceived to be-

Crystal: I mean, it’s Texas.

Tom: That could go either way.

Crystal: I-

Tom: Especially in civil matters.

Crystal: I truly do not know.

Tom: Yeah.

Crystal: I don’t know. I will say I don’t feel like, I thi- it’s been a mixed bag for Peloton and people suing them- Yeah … over these patent infringements.

Crystal: In general, Peloton has come out ahead.

Tom: Yeah.

Crystal: Um, they really haven’t I don’t think they’ve officially lost anything. They settled with, uh, Lulu.

Tom: Okay.

Crystal: Right? Yeah. And, um, and the rest have all either been dismissed or or Peloton fl- Peloton flat out won. Right. I don’t, I don’t recall a time, now I could be forgetting one.

Crystal: My brain is a little tired this morning.

Tom: Yeah.

Crystal: But I, I cannot recall one that Peloton flat out lost. Yeah. I cannot, so for whatever that’s worth. Anyway-

Tom: What did they [00:09:00] do now?

Crystal: So it’s this company called Flow Motion Research, and they are fil- they are filing against three different patents. They are saying that for the Cross-Training Row Plus, the Commercial Row Plus, and the original Peloton Row, that because Peloton is using the form assist-

Tom: Okay

Crystal: they already had that. Yeah. They had already filed for it, and Peloton is, is in their way, okay?

Tom: Gotcha.

Crystal: And-

Tom: They stole it. They stole it.

Crystal: And they’re not looking for Peloton to stop selling. They want damages. They want damages, so they want money.

Tom: Gotcha.

Crystal: That’s what they want. That’s what they’re after. So this- It’s what they

Tom: always want.

Crystal: Well- Sometimes they just want them to stop selling because- Yeah … because they’re ruining their whatever their thing is. Their version of it. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Now, it’s unclear. Nobody has been able to find that this Flow Motion place actually sells anything. Hmm. So they might. Like there are a million ways to- Right

Crystal: to stack a [00:10:00] corporation. For sure. So, like, that doesn’t mean for sure that somewhere along the way they are not selling something.

Tom: Right.

Crystal: It just hasn’t been found if that… But it could be also that they don’t, and that would also explain why they just want damages.

Tom: Right.

Crystal: So I don’t know. They’re saying that there are these sensors in the seat and the handle, and maybe there are, although, uh, I mean, apparently there are.

Crystal: I read our own article and it says that there are. But I, I’m just, like, kind of surprised because I, I’m used to the way that Tonal sensors work. Right. And I never really thought about it for the Row one way or another.

Tom: Yeah.

Crystal: But in Tonal sensors they’re in the handles and, like, the handles then have to have, like, batteries in them, and they pair, and, like, there’s a whole thing happening.

Crystal: But then the, the Row handle is, for the Peloton, is just connected with a rope. Right. I mean, it doesn’t mean there’s not something, some kind of

Tom: sensor- Like a cable that

Crystal: connects or something. Yeah. But it doesn’t mean there’s not a sensor, I guess, in the handle itself but I’m just like-

Tom: How is it sending that information back?

Crystal: Right.

Tom: Right.

Crystal: Right. And then, and they’re saying there’s one in the seat, too. Same [00:11:00] question. I’m not saying it doesn’t exist. I’m saying I don’t understand how it works, how it’s sending it and how it will never die. Yeah. Because, because I understand the –

Tom: Right. We have to swap out the batteries in the Tonal.

Tom: There’s a, there’s an obvious power source there.

Crystal: Right. And it’s pairing, so I understand the information is going back and forth.

Tom: Right.

Crystal: But th- so this, this confuses me. But any rate I, uh, I guess we’ll just kind of wait and see what happens. Keep everybody updated. Yeah. Nothing… Peloton hasn’t answered.

Tom: Yeah.

Crystal: There’s nothing. Nothing has happened yet-

Tom: Right …

Crystal: except for the fact that it’s been filed. So right now it’s very early. And, uh, every- you can, you could accuse anybody of anything.

Tom: Sure.

Crystal: Man, court, courts suck. But, uh- I just remember the person we had on the show, Lori Cheek- Yeah … who had made that really cool app called Cheept.

Tom: Yeah.

Crystal: You remember that? And, um, it was a dating app. It was kind of silly. Yeah. You know, but she went on, uh, what is it called?

Tom: Uh, Shark Tank.

Crystal: Shark Tank, yeah. And, uh, she was, like, out there selling it and everything, and then this person out [00:12:00] of nowhere accused her of making… like, taking their thing. Well, she’d never heard of this person or any of the stuff, and she proved that she hadn’t, and lawsuit dismissed, right?

Tom: Yeah.

Crystal: Guy does it again and again and again. Yeah. Like hundreds of thousands of dollars. You can keep doing it over and- and that’s just insane. Yeah. So like, I’m not saying … I don’t know who’s gonna win or lose but the way that our court system works is that anybody can keep… Anybody can sue anybody.

Crystal: It doesn’t mean it’ll work in your favor.

Tom: Yeah. You hear so many horror stories about patent trolls- Mm-hmm … in today’s world- Yeah … where, you know, and so like, not saying that that’s what they’re doing.

Crystal: No.

Tom: But-

Crystal: No, I’m not …

Tom: not saying. We don’t know.

Crystal: It’s a question mark. Until we have more information, I’m just skeptical.

Tom: Yeah. So. I get that.

Tom: peloton has set its next earnings call.

Crystal: It has. Oh, Peloton. Can’t we do these on Wednesdays?

Tom: They’re so rude.

Crystal: I know.

Tom: They give n- no [00:13:00] consideration to our show schedule.

Crystal: None. Can you believe that? Uh, it’s on Thursday, August 6th at 8:30 AM Eastern, and of course, the clip-out will be present.

Crystal: I am not sure that we will be doing a follow-up. Unless there is some crazy breaking news- Right … we will probably just leave it all in article form and hit the highlights next week.

Tom: Peloton has been acquired by FlowMotion.

Crystal: If that happens, we will re-record. They’re like- Besides that, you’re on your own

Tom: “You’re right. We did. Here’s the keys.”

Crystal: “It’s

Tom: your company now.” Just take it. “We’re really sorry.”

Tom: So, uh, Peloton’s head of apparel, Samantha Storch Malloy- Mm-hmm … or Storch, depending.

Crystal: I don’t know. I have, I’ve been saying Storch, but I actually don’t know.

Tom: Yeah.

Crystal: That’s a good question.

Tom: Uh, has started an MBA program at Yale.

Crystal: Yeah.

Tom: Look at that fancy pants.

Crystal: I know. I thought this was so cool. Yeah. I got scared.

Crystal: Okay, so Samantha [00:14:00] just started this… Uh, she’s been at Peloton for a while- Mm-hmm … but she just started as the the Peloton head of apparel maybe four months ago, something like that. Yeah. Maybe a little longer. It’s pretty recent. But she put a thing on LinkedIn saying, like, “Tell me all your feedback about our apparel.”

Crystal: And boy, did our Clip Out listeners have things to say.

Tom: Yeah, she blocked you.

Crystal: No. No. And that’s what impressed me so much about, about… I’m gonna call her Sam, like we’re friends.

Tom: Okay.

Crystal: She reached- Is that what

Tom: she goes by? Do we

Crystal: even know? I don’t know. I just- She does

Tom: now.

Crystal: She does now. Yeah. I don’t, I don’t know.

Crystal: Um-

Tom: I’m gonna call her Antha.

Crystal: An- Oh,

Tom: okay.

Crystal: Just for the difference. Okay. Well, I’ll call her Sam. You call her Antha. Sam, uh, recently, uh, went through… Not recently. Right after we posted about it, she went through and read every single comment that everybody posted, and gave her own feedback and, like, encouraged people to keep doing it.

Crystal: And there was another article we did about, uh, apparel, and she was like, “Bring on more comments, guys.” Yeah. Like, she posted in our comments. I don’t think people realized who she was though- Right, [00:15:00] right … ’cause they were like, “What?” Um, people, you know?

Tom: People.

Crystal: You know. Whatever. So that in and of itself, like I’m already very impressed with Sam.

Tom: Yeah.

Crystal: But then I got worried that she was no longer at Peloton, ’cause I’m like, “Yale is 90 miles away from N- ” We looked. Yeah. We looked.

Tom: We Googled.

Crystal: We Googled, ’cause I wouldn’t have known that otherwise. Yeah. And, um, it’s not a quick drive. Well, here’s the thing- ‘Cause she answered me.

Tom: Yeah.

Crystal: Very impressive lady.

Tom: Yeah.

Crystal: She is gonna be doing a weekend program. They have, uh, apparently they hold in-person classes, like, every other weekend, and then of course you still have to do coursework between. Sure,

Tom: yeah.

Crystal: And to kick it off, she had to spend two and a half weeks on the Yale campus, and she, uh, said in her post “I will have a social life again in 2028.”

Crystal: And you know what? My, my hat’s off to you, because I did an MBA program while working full-time- Right … and going through a divorce- Yeah … and moving. I do not recommend. But it is tough. It is really, really tough. Like, it, y- [00:16:00] you’re trying to balance all the things.

Tom: Yeah.

Crystal: And, uh, it was hard because I am used to being a straight-A student, and I had to be a, I had to be a sometimes a B student, and that was really, really hard for me to accept.

Tom: Oh, I didn’t realize. This is the first I’ve heard that you got Bs.

Crystal: I know. I

Tom: know. I wish I’d have known this before we s-

Crystal: got married I’m so sorry. I’m sorry.

Tom: Oh,

Crystal: goodness. I know. My undergrad, I, like, graduated sigma cum laude, and this one I’m just, like, I just graduated. But you know what? I graduated. I got the- You did

Crystal: freaking piece of paper.

Tom: Hey, I didn’t get my bachelor’s till I was 45.

Crystal: And this, this is above a bachelor’s.

Tom: Yes, and it’s at Yale.

Crystal: Yeah. Well, I meant mine, but yeah. Yes. Hers is at Yale. It’s very impressive.

Tom: Well, you went to SLU. That’s no joke.

Crystal: It is no… it is a no slouch of a school. Yeah. Very good school.

Crystal: But, uh, at any rate, I am just very impressed to see that somebody is posting about this at that level, doing this while she’s working full-time. Absolutely. Uh, it’s, it’s my observation, it appears she has children.

Tom: Oh.

Crystal: So again, [00:17:00] not an easy thing to do.

Tom: Not

Crystal: at all. So congrats, and, uh, I hope it’s easier than it’s gonna feel some days.

Tom: Mm-hmm. And while we’re talking about, uh, Peloton behind-the-scenes employees, Peloton CTO Francis Shanahan.

Crystal: Mm-hmm.

Tom: That’s as Irish as a name as you can get without a punctuation mark in it. It,

Crystal: it’s true.

Tom: Yeah.

Crystal: Or an O.

Tom: Yes. Uh, was sharing his thoughts on AI.

Crystal: Yeah, and, uh, Francis likes to post on the LinkedIn.

Crystal: Mm-hmm. He’s a sharer. Uh, he was… He went to- Allianz Direct, and they had an annual summit in France. So-

Tom: Hmm …

Crystal: I know. That’s the C-suite, am I right?

Tom: Yeah.

Crystal: It is just to travel around the world doing things. I

Tom: wanna go to one of them conferences in France. Mm-hmm. Although, honestly-

Crystal: Conferences are never as fun as you think they are

Tom: you never get to actually go anywhere or do anything. And maybe on an international one, you build in a little extra time. But it looks like how many times have I been to LA for, [00:18:00] for concert industry conferences? And it’s like, I just,

Crystal: I a- You always manage to go to the comedy clubs …

Tom: I land, I drive to the hotel, and then when it’s over, I drive back to the airport and come home.

Tom: Yeah. Except for my one excursion to the Comedy Store.

Crystal: Yeah. Which you should. It’s fun. Yeah. But, uh, yeah. And then he shared all about AI and his thoughts on it. Uh, he had a lot of, uh, insights, but it’s kinda long. But my point is, it’s nice when they share- Yeah … their different thoughts about it, so.

Tom: Absolutely. Yeah. Well, coming up after this, we will have instructors in the news. We’re gonna talk about who has finally returned to the Peloton fold, uh, Jess Sims making the most of her week in Chicago, and Bex Gentry is a speedy goat. So stick around

Tom: At long last, Leanne Hainsby Aldis has returned to the world of Peloton.

Crystal: She’s gonna be teaching [00:19:00] a full lineup in, starting in early September. So she’s been out since December, and, um, this is, uh, very exciting.

Crystal: People have really missed her. She’s a very beloved Peloton instructor.

Tom: Yeah.

Crystal: And, uh, I think this might be the longest, uh, maternity leave we’ve seen from any Peloton instructor. And, uh, that’s… First of all, it’s really cool that an entire country does maternity leave like this. Like, just-

Tom: Yeah …

Crystal: yeah.

Tom: Not complaining.

Crystal: No. No. There are people that have- I have- … and shame on you.

Tom: I have no doubt.

Crystal: But, uh, also it’s great that it’s great that the community is just missing her- Yeah … and, and welcoming her back, not n- most of them are not like, “Where have you been?”

Tom: Right. You know? And the thing is that the maternity leave feels like it’s been long-

Crystal: Mm-hmm

Tom: for Americans.

Crystal: Yeah. Yeah. Very. Yeah. In America-

Tom: See, this isn’t how the rest of the world does it …

Crystal: for those of you who live in the UK and are like, “What’s the big [00:20:00] deal?” In America, you get zero paid time off and sometimes. Yeah. But you, you can get up to 12 weeks if you have a company that is able to participate in FMLA, but that’s unpaid- Right

Crystal: typically. So if you are lucky enough to work for a company that has any kind of paid maternity leave, it’s usually a portion of it- Yeah … and they see it as like a short-term disability or a long-term disability, depending on how their insurance is set up. But, uh, we’re, we’re-

Tom: Aren’t most

Crystal: women- We’re jealous.

Crystal: Yeah. That’s what it is. We’re jealous.

Tom: Aren’t most women back in like six weeks these days? Like, it’s pretty quick. Um, I,

Crystal: I feel like there’s a lot of eight week to 10 weeks. Okay. I feel like that’s pretty common.

Tom: Yeah.

Crystal: But there are definitely women that, that- For sure … they don’t have the option.

Crystal: Yeah. They, you know yeah. Also, I just feel like we should talk about the fact that Leanne put in her newsletter a special Remembrance- Mm-hmm … of a Peloton community member, Buzzy Bird UK, uh, who [00:21:00] passed away while Leanne was out. Ah. That was, her name was Antonia, and she passed away.

Crystal: And so I feel like that was really nice of Leanne to do. Mm-hmm. There’s a lot of… And, I mean, instructors all have fans, but not all instructors interact with them publicly- Right … or, like, say their feelings toward them publicly.

Tom: Yeah.

Crystal: And so I really appreciate that Leanne took a moment to do that in her newsletter.

Tom: For

Crystal: sure. It’s really nice of her. And I’m sorry for the community’s loss. I know that’s really sad.

Tom: Yeah. So Jess Sims-

Crystal: Mm-hmm …

Tom: uh, spent a week in Chicago.

Crystal: Yeah.

Tom: That toddlin’ town. And, uh, well, she did a lot.

Crystal: She did. It was a busy, busy week.

Tom: In fact, the rest of instructors in the news is just- … what she did in Chicago.

Crystal: Uh, there was a star-studded celebrity three-point contest lineup she did. Okay. She also had the Faces of Fitness- Mm-hmm … of course. Yeah. She was part of the [00:22:00] three four different instructors that were part of Faces of Fitness Chicago. And then, uh, she also had the WNBA All-Star activities with Kirsten Ferguson.

Crystal: So she was busy, busy, busy.

Tom: Yeah. Yeah. That’s a lot.

Crystal: And that’s a lot to do in a whole week, but that’s a lot of activity-

Tom: Yeah …

Crystal: in a whole week. By the way, the State Farm thing was on ESPN.

Tom: That makes sense.

Crystal: It does.

Tom: Yeah.

Crystal: But I mean, she’s just such a cool, like, she’s just everywhere- Yeah … in the sports world.

Crystal: It’s so neat.

Tom: Absolutely.

Crystal: Yeah.

Tom: Bex Gentry finished Speedgoat 50K.

Crystal: She did. Uh, obviously that is a race. She has been, Bex has been pivoting, she has pivoted towards tail- trail racing this year as o- as opposed to road racing.

Tom: Right.

Crystal: Uh, she was saying, we talked about before in a past episode that road racing was just really hard on her.

Crystal: She was kind of bored with it, you know, she needed to change things up, and she went back to her roots. Well, [00:23:00] the Speedgoat 50K is a really tough course.

Tom: She’s a trail brazer. See, that’s a bray and a blazer.

Crystal: I see.

Tom: Trail

Crystal: brazer. You are very proud of that. ‘

Tom: Cause it’s Speedgoat-

Crystal: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm …

Tom: and goats bray.

Crystal: Thank you. This is the toughest 50K trail race in the country. It covers 33 miles, and get this, 11,400 feet of elevation at a place called Snowbird, wherever that is. So, that took place this past weekend. It was also interesting that Bex Gentry said this was the toughest thing she has done.

Tom: It sounds pretty awful, but she did the seven-

Crystal: I was like, she did seven marathons in seven days on seven continents, so when this- But this is

Tom: tougher?

Crystal: And she birthed a human. So, like, to say that this is tougher than- Yeah … those things, that is really saying something.

Tom: That’s a bold statement.

Crystal: It is. Yeah.

Tom: I will never be [00:24:00] able to verify the veracity of said- Same … statement.

Crystal: Same.

Tom: But yeah, I would really think the seven in seven days… But I guess if you’re as adept at marathon running as she is well, that’s, I can do a marathon, whatever.

Crystal: It’s just- Literally seven of them in seven days …

Tom: it’s just the travel that’s getting to me, right? Yeah. Where this is gonna strain your body in a different way, but it is still counterintuitive. It is. Like, I would think seven in seven days would be worse than this, but-

Crystal: Well, and it really says something that she finished 118th overall, which is incredibly impressive But her time, also impressive, but sounds crazy, eight hours and 29 minutes.

Crystal: Now, this is the same woman that has just over a three-hour marathon.

Tom: Right.

Crystal: So for her to take eight hours on 33 miles when she can do a marathon in a few-

Tom: Mm-hmm …

Crystal: that is really saying something about how tough this must be. I mean, I know when you hear elevation, it’s a lot of elevation, but, like, to see it and [00:25:00] experience it are two very- Yeah

Crystal: different things. So, like, knowing it is one thing, but for her to actually having done it. So anyway, congrats to you, Becks. That is very impressive.

Tom: Robin Arzon now officially speaks for the Truffula trees. She has teamed up with The Lorax.

Crystal: I didn’t realize that, uh, she was officially speaking for the Truffula trees.

Crystal: Well,

Tom: I mean, if you’re working with The Lorax-

Crystal: That’s just part of the go? He speaks- Just how it works?

Tom: He speaks for the trees.

Crystal: Well, we had talked last week about how she had teased a Lorax campaign and, uh, some kind of collaboration. So this week it, it came up and it actually published? I can’t think of words.

Crystal: Words are hard. Posted? Posted today. Released? Posted. Released this week. I don’t know, something like that.

Tom: Announced?

Crystal: Yeah, it happened. The collaboration happened this week. Uh, she, she, uh… This whole message was about heat safety, which you need because it is miserable out there in a lot [00:26:00] of places across the United States.

Tom: Including here.

Crystal: Yes. But the poor Lorax, he’s covered in fur.

Tom: Yeah.

Crystal: So, like, it’s gotta be worse for him, you know?

Tom: Yeah. Whoever’s in that Lorax costume-

Crystal: Literally …

Tom: is… Yeah.

Crystal: So, uh, this is a, a collaboration called Play It Cool and, uh, they are working with Dr. Seuss Enterprises. It’s all designed to help families, coaches, and young athletes recognize the signs of heat-related illness.

Crystal: Obviously, nobody wants anybody to get sick while they’re out there, but there are so many athletes in the summer that are training for fall events and they get sick- Yeah, especially the,

Tom: the football players doing- Yeah … their two-a-days. Mm. And then you al- alm- it seems like every year you hear a story about, oh, some kid collapsed and died.

Tom: Whoops.

Crystal: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I mean, it’s awful. It’s awful. So lots of things here telling you, you know, if you feel hot, tell somebody, sit out if you need to take a break, cool down through hydration, shade, and rest. I will also say I know you kids want to be the [00:27:00] best, I know you want to push yourself, but it’s not worth dying for.

Tom: That’s why I’m still alive.

Crystal: Yeah, you never push

Tom: yourself? I have never pushed myself- … one time.

Crystal: Not one.

Tom: I’m like, “It’s not worth it.”

Crystal: Oh. It’s… And, uh, my mom last year, obviously different because she’s older- Yeah … so it was a different situation, but she, uh, she, like, collapsed last year- Yeah … and it was really scary when it happened.

Crystal: Like, really… Like, you are not here mentally- Yeah … when that happens. She just, like, went

Tom: away.

Crystal: Yeah. Yeah. That was terrifying. So just be careful out there.

Tom: And then finally for this segment, Marcel Maurer is celebrating five years with Peloton.

Crystal: I am constantly surprised at these instructors. It feels like a few days that they have been here and they’ve been here five years.

Tom: I know.

Crystal: Marcel Meyer- Maurer also gets his, uh, 50 Class Collection celebrating his five-year anniversary. Yeah. So congrats on that as well and, uh, we’re so happy to have you, Marcel, and [00:28:00] congratulations.

Tom: Yeah, there will be cake in the break room.

Crystal: Well, I mean, not our break room

Tom: No

Crystal: We don’t have a break room

Tom: No

Crystal: So

Tom: August is almost upon us.

Crystal: It is.

Tom: Unless you don’t listen on the first day, in which case it’s August. Or if you don’t listen in the first 30 days, I don’t know. I can’t help you. I have no idea when you’re, what- … what month it is for you then. It’s just things have spun out of control here. Yeah. But we will look ahead-

Crystal: Yeah …

Tom: for some of you, as to what the August Artist Series will include.

Crystal: All right. So, uh, Zara Larsson is going to be back there’s gonna be several classes here.

Crystal: We’ve got a full body strength, we’ve got a ride, Pilates, a run, and another ride, and another row. And two of those, one of those will be in German, so that’s gonna be a ride with Mila Lazar.

Crystal: Backstreet Boys is gonna be back.[00:29:00]

Tom: All right.

Crystal: Well, it’s, it… You must not remember. They-

Tom: They were, like, on the schedule, off the schedule

Crystal: They got it pulled in April. Yeah. And Peloton said, “Well, we’re just rearranging things.” Yeah. And they clearly did. I felt like it was coming back, but we didn’t know when.

Tom: Yeah.

Crystal: It was just like, “It’s all in a month.

Crystal: Just move it to another a month.”

Tom: There you go.

Crystal: So Backstreet Boys showing up on the schedule for August.

Tom: All’s well that ends well.

Crystal: We’ll see it. That starts on August 13th, but, uh, there’s gonna be two live classes for that one, so there you go.

Tom: And we talked last week about Neo’s Artist Series, and he was scheduled to be in studio-

Crystal: Yeah

Tom: but he was unable to attend.

Crystal: Yeah. Weather happened the day that he was traveling to New York, and he was sup- Well,

Tom: weather happens every day.

Crystal: Well, weather that kept him from getting there. Kind of thought you knew what I was saying, but that’s okay.

Crystal: He, so he was supposed to be at, [00:30:00] like, a 7:00 AM class with Alex Tusaut the next morning. Yeah. And not only did Neo cancel, but the Alex class never happened, and it’s… Alex never did a class without him- … as, as we can tell. They

Tom: were just like, “Never mind.”

Crystal: Yeah. I, and I, I don’t know if the hope is that they’ll be able to do it at a later time.

Tom: Right.

Crystal: I don’t know. I was kind of surprised- That they canceled it all together. Like, you could still play his songs.

Tom: Right.

Crystal: Uh, so-

Tom: Especially for people that were planning on being there.

Crystal: Yeah. But people were bummed. I mean- I bet … obviously, but but I’m hoping that means that Peloton is still gonna do that at some point.

Crystal: Yeah. And we’ll someday be talking about, “Oh yeah, you remember that time Neo got canceled?”

Tom: Well, he didn’t

Crystal: get- Now it’s happening. Oh, I didn’t mean he got canceled. Right. Sorry. Sorry. Gotta be careful. That means something different these days.

Tom: Yes. People are gonna be like, “What did Neo do?”

Crystal: No.

Tom: Yeah.

Crystal: Remember that time the Neo ride was canceled because Neo couldn’t make it?

Crystal: Well…

Tom: Due to no fault of his own. We

Crystal: have- Weather. Weather happened.

Tom: Every day. We have weather every day.[00:31:00]

Tom: That’s worth going over to YouTube to look at that face.

Tom: Coming up after this, we’ve got all sorts of content. There’s, uh, lots of stuff going on. It’s hard to keep track of what you should be, uh, doing, so we’ve done it for you. So stick around

Tom: It is time for the TCO top five. You have told us your favorite rides, classes, runs, rows, strengths-

Crystal: All the things …

Tom: guides, yogas Pilate, that’s plural for Pilates.

Crystal: Is it?

Tom: Well, ’cause you can’t say Pilateses. Okay. That’s weird.

Crystal: I guess so.

Tom: So here we go.

Crystal: All right.

Tom: Number one, your favorite ride.

Crystal: I felt like this was really nice timing, since this, this was nominated before Leanne’s announcement- Ah … that she was going to be back in September. This was taught by Leanne Hinsby back in September of [00:32:00] 2024. It’s a 30-minute Shakira ride, and Deborah Anzalone is the one who nominated this, and she took it this week.

Crystal: She said, “I love Leanne’s 30-minute Shakira ride. Leanne always sets the mood to perfection. Her outfit was spot on, her playlist was on fire, and the vibe was just what I needed to get these hips moving, because as Shakira says, ‘Hips don’t lie.'”

Tom: Uh, number two, your favorite Pilates.

Crystal: Yes, okay, so this was taught by Anna Greenberg on 7/24.

Crystal: It was a 20-minute new tracks Pilates, and our very own Elizabeth Schlotzberg, uh, she is our, our-

Tom: Helper bee …

Crystal: one of our many helper bees. Yeah. But she is a busy helper bee. She never stops, man. I am impressed with all that she does. Uh, okay, so this is what she had to say: “Such amazing lower body work, lots of fun.”

Crystal: That’s relative. “Bridge- … and side-lying variations, and creative use of the squishy ball. I don’t actually own that prop, so I used a yoga [00:33:00] block for some modification, and it was still great. Her music and energy are top tier, and she’s the only instructor who consistently gets me to do all the moves that my body finds the hardest-

Crystal: while still smiling at the end.” That is quite the recommendation.

Tom: It is. Uh, number three, it’s a power walk.

Crystal: It is, and it was taught by Rebecca Kennedy, part of her Hiit Plus. This was, uh, week three, day two. It was a 60-minute Hiit power walk. Okay, so Walk to Strength said, “The intervals really worked me.

Crystal: Rebecca Kennedy hooked this up. I’m doing a little jogging, and I did a 5K plus inside of this walk. This was awesome.”

Tom: Number four, your favorite core class.

Crystal: Taught by Selena Samuela on 7/19. It was a 10-minute core style and strong. Loved this class. She said that Selena implemented the pelvic floor exercises that she’s been doing in this core class, which really works your lower abs.

Crystal: “I’m eight years postpartum, but could definitely use it, [00:34:00] as could everyone, I’m sure. She inspired me to add classes like this into my weekly rotation,” as should we all. Man, I need to do more of that.

Tom: And then finally, number five, the class so difficult you dare not stack it. It’s a strength class

Crystal: It is, and our very own helper bee, Liz Nichols, submitted this one, and, uh, she was

Crystal: This was a funny to me. This was very funny. So Neo, as we were just talking about.

Tom: Yes.

Crystal: Okay, well Jess Sims had a 30-minute full body strength that she taught on July 23rd, and Liz says, “If you like Flash 15 with Jess, this is for you. Just double it.” “This soundtrack is amazing. Of course, it’s a fantastic assortment of moves you that, of moves that you don’t do every day that hit on each and every muscle group, and the last five-minute AMRAP, hold onto your seat because I was sweating my butt off at the end.

Crystal: Reminded me of how ha- a little of how I feel after kettle bell conditioning, breathless.” [00:35:00]

Tom: All of the TCO top five this week-

Tom: Were women.

Crystal: Oh, wow. Yeah, yeah, that’s true. That is very true.

Tom: I just thought that was

Crystal: interesting. Wow, it is interesting. It is interesting. We, we do have I would say 70 to 80% women that listen to us- Yeah

Crystal: and follow us on the, the articles.

Tom: Yeah.

Crystal: Uh, the only place that it’s not that high is over on the YouTube.

Tom: Yeah.

Crystal: Make of that what you will. I think it just means men use YouTube more than women do. That’s what I think.

Tom: They like looking at you.

Tom: And some of them like looking at me. We don’t judge.

Crystal: Yeah, we don’t judge.

Tom: I get it.

Crystal: Mm.

Tom: I’m a snack.

Tom: Speaking of squishy balls-

Crystal: Okay …

Tom: as we were momentarily ago.

Crystal: Sure.

Tom: Uh, uh, if you like the props-

Crystal: Yeah …

Tom: they’ve added labels-

Crystal: They have … for

Tom: prop classes.

Crystal: I, I’m hoping this means we’re gonna see it on all classes going forward.

Tom: I’m hoping this means we get an artist series from Carrot Top. [00:36:00]

Crystal: I don’t get it.

Tom: He’s a prop comic

Crystal: Wow.

Crystal: I didn’t see that coming. I should- I

Tom: really, I really don’t want an Artist Series from Carrot Top.

Crystal: Good.

Tom: Just putting it out there.

Crystal: Okay.

Tom: Yeah.

Crystal: I don’t think anybody was gonna do it anyway. I

Tom: don’t think we were in any grave danger.

Crystal: No.

Tom: Yeah.

Crystal: Okay, but there was a new 10 minute core strength class with Rob- from Robin that just popped up on the schedule.

Crystal: But the interesting thing was in the title it said, “With foam roller.” It’s never done that before. Peloton has never added that- Yeah … in the title. Sometimes they’ll show a graphic- Right … that has the instructor holding a foam roller so you can assume it’s with a foam roller.

Tom: You’re gonna need one of these.

Crystal: Or even in the, uh, notes it might say that. Not the notes you made, but like the class description. Right. But it does not always say it in the title, which people have been asking for a long time. Yes, in the pictures you can see it, but it’s nice to know beforehand-

Tom: Yeah …

Crystal: in the title.

Tom: And it’s not searchable in a picture.

Crystal: It is not.

Tom: Yeah.

Crystal: People are just people, you know? And every time you ask for something, [00:37:00] there’s some wise ass who’s like, “Why do you need that? It just says it right there.”

Tom: Yeah.

Crystal: Eh. Eh.

Tom: Uh, Fit Family classes are now available.

Crystal: Well, they’ve always been available. Well, not always, but uh, they’ve been available for a long time, Tom.

Crystal: Okay. Years and years. Years and years. But Peloton ju- did just release four new ones. There’s a five-minute family, Fit Family brain break with Jess Sims. There’s a 20-minute family sleep meditation. Are y’all sleeping in the same room? Like, is this like nap time? I don’t know. This is like-

Tom: Maybe doing the shared bed thing.

Crystal: Oh, maybe. And then there is a 15-minute Fit Family with… I’m not sure which, if that’s cardio, but it’s, uh, Cliff. And then a 10-minute family meditation with Mela. So there you go.

Tom: Outdoor mindful walks are back.

Crystal: Yes, and two new ones hit the list this week, and people were really excited. I always find it interesting the things that really resonate with people.

Tom: Yeah.

Crystal: And, [00:38:00] uh, this article got shared a number of times, and I was, I was just surprised by that because it’s not like mindful walks are new.

Tom: Right.

Crystal: So I… To me, that says people have been really wanting these to return.

Tom: Yeah.

Crystal: Um, but they are really nice. Like, if you, if you’ve ever taken one of these, or if you’ve never taken one of these, you should, uh, you can go outside and take a walk, but it’s, it’s encouraging you to really take in your surroundings.

Crystal: Not, not really a meditation, but it’s… Because… But it, it’s also really focusing on the moment that you’re in. Mm-hmm. And, and just doing that can reduce your anxiety, so a nice 20-minute break in the middle of the day, this is a really nice way to do it. Also Peloton has been- doing that outdoor challenge, this is a great way to get your minutes in for your outdoor challenge, if that’s something that’s important to you.

Crystal: So that’s a great thing to do too. But we, uh, had two new instructors added this week. It was Jess King added a 30-minute and… i’m sorry, a 20-minute, and [00:39:00] then Mayla had a 30-minute, and it’s German language. So both are gonna be out there on July 29th.

Tom: If you are new to Peloton, first off, welcome.

Crystal: Welcome.

Tom: Or if maybe you’ve just kind of, uh, fallen off your normal workout regimen, peloton now has Jumpstart Your Routine.

Crystal: They do. Eight classes, five different formats, and it helps you restart your routine. It’s really funny because a lot of these classes are not new. I just thought that was interesting.

Crystal: Hmm. It’s like they started a new collection- Yeah … but all of these classes are from 24 and 25. Almost all of them. So I found that really interesting. I don’t know, like sometimes their collections just really confuse me, like-

Tom: Right …

Crystal: like why are you making a collection out of XYZ, you know?

Crystal: Right. And I’m not- Or

Tom: what makes this class qualify-

Crystal: Yeah …

Tom: for jump starting?

Crystal: Right.

Tom: Yeah.

Crystal: And then people got [00:40:00] confused because Jumpstart sounds like jump training.

Tom: Oh.

Crystal: So then people were like- “

Tom: But I’m not jumping.”

Crystal: Right.

Tom: Yeah.

Crystal: And this collection has nothing to do with jumping. Okay. So don’t assume that, for sure.

Tom: Uh, Emma Lovewell celebrated Christmas in July.

Crystal: This is the first ever. Yeah. This is, this is Peloton history being made right here. Yeah. And, uh, she did this class, and apparently there were a wave of requests. So she just surprised people, and she just did it. She didn’t announce it. Hmm. She didn’t talk about it.

Crystal: She just hopped on in little adorable snowflake leggings- Yeah … and, uh, she just did it. I love it. Also, I love how excited people were about this. And I have to tell you guys, there was actually a person on Facebook I kid you not, that responded, “Why?” With not one, not two, three angry faces. And I said, “Why are you so angry, [00:41:00] bro?”

Crystal: And he never responded. And I would just… were you having a bad day?

Tom: Yeah.

Crystal: Like why does that upset you? Just- Why?

Tom: Just don’t take it.

Crystal: Right.

Tom: I mean, look, I think Christmas in July is kind of dumb.

Crystal: A lot of people do.

Tom: But, like, whatever.

Crystal: It’s, it’s okay.

Tom: Doesn’t change my life.

Crystal: It’s not for you. Yeah.

Crystal: That’s fine.

Tom: Like, I love Christmastime.

Crystal: I know you do.

Tom: But I don’t wanna hear it when it’s not Christmastime.

Crystal: I, I tell you, my family one year celebrated Christmas in July because so many times we can’t… There are people that live far away. Mm-hmm. We can’t get them home.

Tom: Yeah.

Crystal: Well, one year all of… So my dad has four brothers and sisters total, so it’s five-kids family.

Crystal: Five kids in the family, and there was one year we actually celebrated Christmas in July because all of the kids were home. Right. Like, the… And we, like, arranged it. It was a whole thing, and we surprised my grandpa.

Tom: Yeah.

Crystal: And, um, it was the only time we ever did it, but I can understand why there are things like that.

Crystal: Sure. You, you never know-

Tom: Yeah …

Crystal: why people are celebrating. Some people [00:42:00] just like Christmas.

Tom: Yeah.

Crystal: And the Hallmark Channel does it.

Tom: Yeah.

Tom: I’m rolling my eyes. Why

Crystal: are you so mad?

Tom: So the guy who has the office next to me-

Crystal: Yeah, who? Oh, maybe you can’t say. I don’t know.

Tom: Uh, his name’s Don.

Crystal: Oh, okay.

Tom: And he loves Christmas.

Crystal: D-

Tom: okay. And he loves Hallmark movies

Crystal: I would not have guessed

Tom: that Yeah. Loves the Hallmark movies. Like honestly like looked into going to the Hallmark convention that they have in Kansas City every year- Yeah, yeah … but then was like, “That’s too expensive. I’m not spending that money.”

Crystal: Yeah.

Tom: It’s like Wizard World, but for Hallmark movies.

Tom: And, uh-

Crystal: I saw the stuff about it this year- Yeah … and I kind of wanted to go too.

Tom: Well, he’s had his TV on Hallmark all month, so I’ve been hearing Christmas songs emanating from the office next door to me for the entire month, and I am ready for it to stop.

Crystal: Okay. Well, you only have two days left.

Tom: Yeah.

Crystal: Two days.

Tom: Now Christmastime, totally down for it.

Crystal: Yeah, you are.

Tom: Love

Crystal: it. You love your Christmas.

Tom: But in [00:43:00] July-

Crystal: No …

Tom: it just like lessens the magic for me.

Crystal: I mean, I think that is a valid feeling. There are no wrong feelings to have about it. I just don’t understand why anger is one of them. Yeah. Like I genuinely like was, why?

Tom: Especially this is siloed. Just don’t go take it. Don’t take it. Right? Like this is like it’s in his office and I’m hearing it, it’s bleeding out. Yeah. Which is fine. Like it’s whatever. I’ll live. But-

Crystal: And a lot of people commented on this that they were really excited because they just needed some joy in their life.

Crystal: Yeah. And like the world is such a dumpster fire right now. That is fair. Like that is a very fair and valid thing to say, and I get that. I just don’t understand why it makes you so mad.

Tom: Yeah. I

Crystal: don’t, I don’t know. Three. Three angry faces.

Tom: That’s a lot.

Crystal: It is a lot. I’m concerned for this individual. You

Tom: should have responded with three Santa emojis.

Crystal: I should have. I should have.

Tom: And then you sir are a snowflake emoji. Yo.

Crystal: I’m so tired. I should [00:44:00] not be recording right now.

Tom: We’re almost to the end. Okay. German bench strength added to the platform.

Crystal: Yeah, these bench class-

Tom: Why? Angry face. Angry face, angry face.

Crystal: People have been very excited about these bench classes being added, and finally there is going to be German bench strength.

Crystal: It’s been added. Eric Jaeger is, is… He has debuted the monthly series that we’re gonna see on July 24th. Uh, it’s gonna start with a live chest and back strength, and then, uh, we will be seeing these classes arrive monthly after that. So they’ll, hopefully they will all get added to the collections, though Peloton confuses me with their collection additions.

Crystal: So

Tom: anyway. Angry face, but with lederhosen. Tunde has returned to live power zone rides.

Crystal: Yeah. Apparently she hadn’t done a live power zone in a really long time. So apparently she hasn’t done one of these live Power Zone classes since, like, 2024. Okay. And she only has 20 Power Zone [00:45:00] classes in her library currently. So we don’t get a lot of Tunde Power Zone.

Tom: Yeah.

Crystal: So we will see if this is gonna be a once a month rotation going forward.

Crystal: Maybe there’s some other kind of method. We’ll see.

Tom: Yeah.

Crystal: Tunde’s also had a very busy year.

Tom: She does a lot.

Crystal: She does do a lot.

Tom: Yeah.

Crystal: So I don’t know. Interesting.

Tom: Also, uh, we had, uh, a little mystery test class-

Crystal: Yeah … pop up. One of our eagle-eyed listeners reached out and they said that, “Hey, there’s a Sam test class on my, my bike.”

Tom: Mm-hmm.

Crystal: And it was showing up as a bike class, so they, they clicked on it, and then for whatever reason it was Tunde doing lunges.

Tom: That… ‘Cause she’s so busy.

Crystal: Yeah, that’s true.

Tom: She just kicked Sam out of his own test class-

Crystal: Just got him outta

Tom: here … and was like, “I got, I got shit to do, Sam.”

Crystal: And people ask me, like, what do these mean?

Crystal: Guys, it can mean anything. It could mean that they were testing to see how certain classes showed up. It could mean that they’re [00:46:00] testing a new modality. It could mean nothing. It’s just, they do these all the time. Yeah. B- but people just don’t always see them because they usually aren’t up for a really long time.

Crystal: Right. So, like, if you don’t happen to look at your bike screen, it’s not necessarily gonna show up at your app. So if you don’t look at your bike screen or whatever equipment it’s on at that very moment, you won’t see it. So I wouldn’t hold your breath that this is some major announcement coming.

Crystal: Uh, it’s probably something more routine than that. Yeah. But who knows? Who knows.

Tom: Remember the time they just left the camera on all weekend?

Crystal: I do. It wasn’t just a weekend. It was weeks. Yeah. Yeah. That was how Jess King’s move to the tread got announced. Yeah. Or leaked, really. It was leaked.

Tom: birthdays are back. The July drought is over.

Crystal: August is here.

Tom: August is here, so here we go.

Crystal: All right.

Tom: On August 2nd, JV Nava. [00:47:00] Who?

Crystal: She just had a baby not that long ago.

Tom: Just

Crystal: had a baby. Yeah.

Tom: Congrats.

Tom: Speaking of birthdays.

Crystal: Yeah. Happy birthday. Happy child birthing. I’m so happy for her.

Tom: And then another, a past employee, Marian Roman.

Crystal: Yes. And, uh, sh- her birthday is on August 3rd.

Crystal: Happy birthday to Marian. She was recently featured in the SPINWARS documentary.

Tom: Yes.

Crystal: For those of you that were lucky enough to see it, still crossing my fingers that’s gonna be a, a wider release.

Tom: For sure. And then on August 5th, Jess Sims.

Crystal: Happy birthday to Jess Sims.

Tom: And then on August 6th, Alex Toussaint.

Crystal: Alex Toussaint. Well, happy birthday. We have four this week, and it’s gonna be a busy month. Yeah. So buckle up.

Tom: There’s lots more coming. I’m sure you’re very excited. So anyway, that brings this episode to a close. Until next week, where can people find you?

Crystal: People can find me on Facebook at facebook.com/crystaldo’keefe.
