Denis Morton Deep Dive Purple Rain Honors a 1984 Classic
The fourth installment of Denis Morton’s album series takes members through Prince and the Revolution’s 1984 soundtrack, arriving on Peloton Wednesday, October 21.

Denis Morton Deep Dive Purple Rain arrives on Peloton on Wednesday, October 21, airing as an encore at 5:45 PM ET. The class brings the instructor’s album-focused cycling series to Prince for the first time. The 45-minute ride is being recorded on Tuesday, October 20, ahead of its October 21 release, and it will also be available on demand.
This is the fourth installment of the Deep Dive series. Denis launched the format in January 2026 with OutKast’s ATLiens. Alanis Morissette’s Jagged Little Pill followed in April, and the Beatles’ Abbey Road arrived in June. Each class pairs a single album with Denis’s commentary on why the record matters to him. That approach grew out of his Instagram series Tuesday Tunes, where he walks followers through the albums that shaped his musical taste.
The earlier rides already live together in Peloton’s Deep Dive class collection. The Purple Rain Peloton class is the series’ first stop in the 1980s.
The Album Behind the Denis Morton Deep Dive Purple Rain Class
Prince released Purple Rain with the Revolution on June 25, 1984, as the soundtrack to the film of the same name. It was his sixth studio album, and it made him a global star.
The nine-song record reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and held the top spot for 24 consecutive weeks. It won Grammy Awards and an Academy Award for Best Original Song Score. Its singles include “When Doves Cry,” “Let’s Go Crazy,” “I Would Die 4 U,” and the title track. Prince wrote nearly every song, mixing rock, funk, pop, and R&B.
That range gives the Denis Morton Deep Dive Purple Rain class a lot to work with. The album opens with fast, guitar-driven tracks and ends with its slow-building title track, which runs close to nine minutes on its own.
Denis Morton Keeps the Music Front and Center
The Purple Rain Peloton class follows a music-heavy stretch for Denis. In July, his Power Zone Jam Band Ride turned into an unplanned deep cut playlist that riders kept talking about after class. In August, he taught his first classes from Peloton Studios London, a weekend that included a rare Foyer yoga class with Sam Yo.
Members who know Denis from yoga, meditation, or the bike expect thoughtful commentary paired with carefully chosen music. The Denis Morton Deep Dive Purple Rain ride puts both at the center of a full 45-minute class.
What to Expect From the Denis Morton Deep Dive Purple Rain Class
The 45-minute runtime matches the Jagged Little Pill and Abbey Road installments. That gives Denis room to cover a large share of the album while adding the personal context that defines the series. The original OutKast ride ran 30 minutes, so the longer format has now held for three straight releases.
The full playlist for the Denis Morton Deep Dive Purple Rain ride was not available at the time of writing. The song order and how much of the album makes the cut will become clear when the class is released on October 21.
The timing fits the series’ pattern. Abbey Road arrived in late June, and the Purple Rain Peloton class lands about four months later. That keeps the series on a steady seasonal rhythm through its first year.
Where the Deep Dive Series Goes From Here
With Denis Morton Deep Dive Purple Rain, the series now spans three decades of music. It runs from the Beatles in 1969 to Prince in 1984 to the mid-1990s records from Alanis Morissette and OutKast. Each new album widens the range of what an album ride on Peloton can cover.
Denis Morton Deep Dive Purple Rain is out Wednesday, October 21, with the encore airing at 5:45 PM ET. If the series keeps its current pace, the next album could arrive in early 2027, though no date or title has been announced. Which record would you want Denis to take on next?
