Denis Morton Deep Dive Ride Returns with Jagged Little Pill

The Denis Morton Deep Dive Ride Returns with Alanis Morissette’s Jagged Little Pill

The second installment of this unique album-focused cycling series lands on one of the most celebrated records in ’90s rock history.

Denis Morton’s Deep Dive series is back with its second installment, and this time the album is Alanis Morissette’s Jagged Little Pill. The 45-minute cycling class is scheduled as an encore on Wednesday, April 29 at 6:30 AM ET. An odd time for a night owl like Denis, but, this was prerecorded. The schedule shows this class as an Encore from April 14 at 7:05pm, certainly a more likely time when Denis would have been in fine form for one of his favorite endeavors. Why is this labelled Encore rather than Premiere? Your guess is as good as ours. Perhaps the labelling will change closer to the air date, as has happened before.

The Denis Morton Deep Dive Series

The Denis Morton Deep Dive series launched in January 2026 with OutKast’s ATLiens as its first subject. The format grew directly out of Denis’s Instagram series, Tuesday Tunes, where he has been sharing the albums that shaped him and explaining why they matter. See that first announcement below.

Aren’t we all fortunate that Denis and Peloton teamed up to bring this to life! Creating these classes in studio feels like a natural progression.

Each Denis Morton Deep Dive class is built around a single album, with Denis weaving his personal connection to the music into the class itself. It’s a format that rewards members who care about music as much as movement, and the early response to the OutKast installment suggested there’s a real appetite for it.

Even if you are not a superfan of the album he features, consider tuning in anyway – you may just learn something! I admit I only knew the hits on ATLiens but I enjoyed Denis’ curation. My only quibble is that he spoke so in depth about the lyrics and I wasn’t familiar with all of them, I wish I had a primer alongside me or a screen behind him displaying the lyrics, like when you add music to an Instagram story, or watch/listen to your favorite tunes on Spotify.

For some members, the Jagged Little Pill Deep Dive may not be as challenging to focus on, as the ATLiens was for me, as its songs are ingrained into much of our collective cultural memory. Some of the members on this Reddit thread can’t wait!

If the series continues to build at this pace, it has the makings of a genuine collection worth revisiting, an album-by-album library curated by one of Peloton’s most music-literate instructors. First “Sample That,” now “Deep Dive.” We love to see it, Denis!

Why Jagged Little Pill?

Released in June 1995, Jagged Little Pill was the record that introduced Alanis Morissette to a global audience. It made her the first Canadian woman to top the Billboard 200, where it stayed for 12 weeks and remained in the Top 10 for a year and a half. The album won four Grammy Awards in 1996, including Album of the Year, and has sold over 33 million copies worldwide.

The tracklist holds up: “You Oughta Know,” “Hand in My Pocket,” “Ironic,” and “Head Over Feet” are the anchors, but the album rewards a full listen from start to finish. For a class format built around albums with genuine depth and staying power, it’s a fitting choice for the second Denis Morton Deep Dive.
