Peloton members got an early taste of the holidays this week with a Christmas in July Ride, a 30-minute cycling class led by Emma Lovewell that swapped the usual midsummer soundtrack for sleigh bells and carols. The class premiered Friday, July 24, giving riders a festive reset months ahead of the December rush.

Emma Lovewell Confirms It’s Peloton’s First Christmas in July Ride

Lovewell announced the class on Instagram, calling it Peloton’s first-ever Christmas in July Ride and crediting members directly for making it happen. She wrote that “enough of you messaged me asking for this class” that she was able to bring it to the schedule, closing her post with a cheerful “Happy Christmas in July.”

The format stuck to Peloton’s standard 30-minute cycling structure, with Lovewell pairing climbs and intervals to the tempo of each track rather than treating the ride as a novelty or theme class in name only.

A Playlist Built for Both Speed and Season

The soundtrack leaned into both classic and modern holiday staples. Riders heard Elvis Presley’s “Blue Christmas,” Michael Bublé’s “Holly Jolly Christmas,” a cover of “Jingle Bell Rock,” and Kelly Clarkson’s “Run Run Rudolph,” along with NSYNC’s “Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays” and Mariah Carey’s “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home).” Hanson’s “Merry Christmas Baby,” a 1991 remix of the Beach Boys’ “Little Saint Nick,” Bing Crosby and the Andrews Sisters’ “Mele Kalikimaka,” the Jackson 5’s “I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus,” and an instrumental take on Trans-Siberian Orchestra’s “Wizards in Winter” rounded out the set, alongside John Williams’ “We Wish You a Merry Christmas” from the Home Alone soundtrack.

The Christmas in July tradition dates back to a 1930s summer camp celebration and later took off as a retail promotion, long before fitness platforms picked it up as a scheduling gimmick. Peloton’s version gives the idea a workout-specific spin, timed to land almost exactly six months from the holiday itself.

If member response holds up, the Christmas in July Ride could join Peloton’s growing list of midyear callbacks, sitting alongside classes tied to other Fourth of July classes already on this summer’s schedule.
