Back Nine Era Substack Launches With Weekly Posts
Jenn Sherman has launched the Back Nine Era Substack, a weekly newsletter for women over 50 that publishes every Monday. She announced it on Instagram on October 16 and asked followers to subscribe through the link in her post.
Jenn is a longtime Peloton instructor, and her Instagram profile lists her as the founder of the Back Nine Era. The community centers on movement, nutrition, connection, and wellness for women in this stage of life. The Back Nine Era Substack gives that community a home she controls directly.
Inside the Back Nine Era Substack Announcement
In her video, Jenn said she will publish an article each Monday covering movement, nutrition, connection, wellness, fashion, and other topics for women over 50. She described the writing as coming “from someone living it right now.”
She also asked viewers to share the link with a friend who might benefit from joining the growing Back Nine Era community. The invitation frames the Back Nine Era Substack as a way to widen that community, not only to deliver articles.
Back Nine Era Substack Pricing and What Each Tier Includes
The Back Nine Era Substack offers four options. The free tier includes one post per month of free content, plus Daily Notes on Movement, Nutrition, Connection and Wellness. Free readers do not receive premium posts, the quarterly Zoom Q&A, or access to Substack Chat and commenting.
Monthly membership costs $12 per month. Annual membership costs $115 per year, which works out to $9.58 per month and is listed as 20% cheaper than subscribing monthly. Both paid plans include three strategy-focused premium posts per month and one quarterly Zoom Q&A where paid members ask live questions on any topic in the Back Nine Era. They also include paid-subscriber-only Substack Chat and the ability to comment on all posts.
The Founding Member tier has its price field set at $360 per year. It includes everything in the paid plans, plus one additional quarterly Zoom call with OGs only, one premium paid membership to gift to a friend, and early access to expert guest interviews. The listing notes that a limited number are available.

How Instructor Newsletters Build Brand and Income
Substack is a publishing platform that lets writers send posts directly to subscribers by email and offer both free and paid subscriptions. Readers choose their level of access, and the writer keeps a direct relationship with them.
Jenn is not the first Peloton instructor to publish this way. Current instructors like Emma Lovewell and Chelsea Jackson Roberts, as well as former instructors Ross Rayburn and Kristin McGee also have Substacks. Other instructors have chosen to use beehiiv for their newsletters, like Leanne Hainsby-Alldis and Adrian Williams.
For brand, a newsletter gives an instructor space for longer, more considered writing than a social post allows. It also builds a subscriber list that does not depend on a social algorithm or Peloton membership. For income, paid tiers create recurring revenue tied directly to the audience. The Back Nine Era Substack applies both ideas to a specific audience, with free content to attract readers and paid tiers for the most engaged members.
Women in midlife have become one of the most closely watched audiences in wellness media. Social media conversation around menopause and perimenopause has grown steadily, and it has pushed topics once discussed quietly into the open. Women are searching for information on symptoms, strength training, nutrition, and sleep, and creators and brands have taken notice. That demand carries real commercial weight, because an audience actively looking for resources to manage its health and make informed decisions will pay for trusted guidance. The Back Nine Era Substack fits into this shift, offering a paid, direct channel built around women over 50 who want clear information from someone living it.
With articles set to arrive every Monday, the first few weeks of the Back Nine Era Substack will show how the weekly writing fits alongside the three premium posts each month. Looking to subscribe? Click Here.
