Ash Pryor NYC Marathon: A Comeback 23 Weeks in the Making

The Peloton instructor is training for her first full marathon after a knee injury that once had her on crutches.

Ash Pryor is running the TCS New York City Marathon on November 1, 2026, and she is not waiting until she has it all figured out to say so. The Peloton Row (and now, Pilates!) instructor announced the news on Instagram this week, sharing that her charity partner application had been approved for the 26.2-mile course that starts at 8:00 a.m. in New York City. This exciting Ash Pryor NYC Marathon announcement caps a year defined by injury, recovery, and a series of milestones she has documented in real time.

What the Ash Pryor NYC Marathon Announcement Means

Pryor shared the acceptance letter alongside a multi-slide Instagram story explaining her goal. She described herself as a run/walk racer, with a stated aim of finishing the course honoring her race plan. She credited her physical therapist, Candace, for supporting the goal from their first session together. In her own words, she is not waiting until she is fully polished to share her truth. She’s spoken about Candace throughout her recovery, so shoutout to her!

A Knee Injury, a Comeback, and a Training Run

The road to this announcement started with a setback. Pryor stepped away from the Peloton live teaching schedule after March 22, 2026, for surgery on her left knee. She returned to live Row classes roughly eight weeks later, on May 24, 2026. She noted that 23 weeks before her announcement, she could not walk without crutches. That timeline lines up directly with her surgery recovery. Since then, she has logged a 13.1-mile training run along a waterfront skyline, tracked on Strava, a distance that echoes her first organized half marathon at the 2025 Cap City Half Marathon in Columbus, Ohio.

Managing Hashimoto’s Disease on the Road to 26.2

Pryor also included mention (not new, but always noteworhty) that she manages Hashimoto’s disease, an autoimmune disorder in which the immune system attacks the thyroid gland, most often resulting in hypothyroidism. The condition causes the thyroid’s hormone-producing cells to decline and commonly brings fatigue, joint pain, and muscle weakness, all of which can complicate marathon training. Endurance athletes managing the condition typically work with a physician on thyroid hormone therapy while adjusting training load for fatigue and recovery, often relying on structured intervals and built-in rest rather than a generic plan. Pryor was direct about this, saying it is not that she has mastered Hashimoto’s disease, but that she is aiming for the marathon anyway.

What She’s Asking Her Community For

Pryor used part of her announcement to ask her followers for help (she noted, not financial help!). She is looking for three things as she builds her training plan:

  • gluten-free nutrition guidance,
  • strategies for running and walking intervals in a city environment, and
  • general support as her mileage increases.

She was clear she does not want to do this training block alone.

The announcement lands during an already busy year for Pryor, who just released her first Pilates program, Ash Pryor Advanced Beginner Pilates, on August 21, 2026.

What have you done afraid? That is the question at the center of Pryor’s announcement, and it is worth sitting with regardless of whether you are training for 26.2 miles or something else in life or in fitness.
