Why you loved them!
Sometimes it’s hard to pick just one favorite, but these reviews make it easy! Here’s what the TCO Group had to say about their favorite classes from the last week.
1. Favorite Peloton Walk
4/9/23 45 min Gospel Walk with Kirsten Ferguson
This class is part of Kirsten’s Intention Setting Sunday series, where she offers affirmations to add to your motivation and positive mindset toolbelt.
Kirsten recently returned to the Tread after an injury and subsequent surgery. This class, recorded prior to the procedure, offers some insight into her injury, and an intimate look at how Kirsten stays positive in the face of adversity.
Erick Grantley found that the class really resonated with him. “Kirsten Ferguson’s 45 minute Gospel Walk from 04/09/23 was awesome! Her affirmations during the class are so uplifting and her revelations about her injury really hit home!”
Kirsten shared mantras throughout the class that focused on perseverance. She said, “The hardest times in life lead to the greatest moments” and, despite a closed door, she wants everyone to believe that “everything is working out for me.” And she’s not just saying these things to say them—she walks through them too, even that very week.
Kirsten tells the story of taking on a big, scary personal fitness goal—completing a half marathon—and getting injured while training. Just prior to this class, Kirsten had to pull out of her scheduled race. But she shares her mindset that it’s not a no forever. It’s just a no for right now. Even though she had to pull out of the race, that doesn’t take away from the training she put in. No one can take away the fact that she ran her longest distance ever—10 miles. And she knows that when she is back to running, she’s going to be better than ever.
In addition to the inspiring look behind an instructor’s own training challenges, this class is full of uplifting music and energizing programming, with hills and power walks (or “purpose walks,” as Kirsten calls them) to work up a low-impact sweat.
2. Favorite Peloton 5-minute Core Class
10/2/23 5 min Core Strength with Robin Arzón
I love keeping a solid 5-minute Core in my stack at all times, and thanks to Stephanie Latos and Diana Kerr, I’ve got a new go-to.
Stephanie says, “Robin’s 5-min core strength from 10/02! So awesome to have a new go-to 5-min core.”
Diana agrees! “Yes! I took that one 4 times last week. LOVE it.”
This class is 5 continuous minutes of core work with a fun hint of Pilates-style exercises, but still with that overall hardcore Robin flavor. It kicks off with 45 seconds each of a forearm plank and dead bugs, followed by 30 seconds each of crunches, reverse crunches, single leg stretches, scissors, and single leg tuck-ups, one set for each leg (way more accessible than double leg tuck-ups, and still super effective), and then finishes with a 30-second high plank.
The playlist is two deeply groovy tracks from EDM mainstays Rufus Du Sol and Sofi Tukker. Both songs earned hearts from me and may or may not be playing in the background as I type now (they definitely are).
3. Favorite Peloton Ride
10/5/23 30 min Pop Ride with Leanne Hainsby
Three listeners recommended this Breast Cancer Awareness Month commemoration ride. Whether you have been or know someone who has been affected by breast cancer, or have been impacted by health challenges of any kind, this class offers some extra special inspiration.
Leanne recently opened up about her battle with breast cancer, so this class was especially heartfelt. She wanted this class to be a space where people impacted by breast cancer could feel less alone, more supported, and where they could experience 30 minutes of magic to hold onto.
For Michele Lee, the class was beautifully cathartic. “I’ve been sick for two weeks and this was my first ride back,” she shared. But the class had an even deeper connection for her. “I lost my best friend in 2005 to breast cancer so this ride was to remember her while honoring Leanne’s journey. Tears fell but what a great ride it was.”
Laura Corcoran loved this class as well: “The music, the energy, and the message were perfection. Highly recommend.” And Susan Yang (EyeWillSurvive) agreed, “Yes, I came here to say the exact same thing!”
Leanne curated a powerful and empowering playlist for this class, including Fight Song by Rachel Platten, I Believe by Yolanda Adams, This Is Me from The Greatest Showman, and Break Free by Ariana Grande and Zedd.
If you or someone you know is impacted by breast cancer, take this class, share it with your friends, and remember that the Peloton community is with you.
4. Favorite Peloton Glutes & Legs Class
10/6/23 20 min Glutes & Legs Strength with Selena Samuela
We all know Peloton can’t keep every class forever (and if you’re not familiar with why, we explain it all here). But after a fan favorite Glutes & Legs Class recently left the library, Selena did the closest thing to bringing it back from the dead—she recreated it! And we have Alyssa Inigo Figlar and AZonion to thank for sharing this reboot with us!
Alyssa said, “Selena’s recreation of the ‘death by single leg bridges’ class 10/6/28. Such a good burn!” And AZonion said, “Selena’s new (but remake of a retro classic) glutes and legs” with THREE fire emojis, so you know it’s a burner.
Glute activation may be the key to happiness—and this class will definitely light up your life. It’s almost entirely weighted single leg hip bridges—a combination of static holds and reps—with some side-lying weighted leg lifts to help spread the burn into the side glutes as well.
I’m going to take this class at least once a week to make my glutes (and my physical therapist) very happy.
5. Favorite Peloton Unstackable Ride
10/7/23 45 min Power Zone Max Ride with Matt Wilpers
Sometimes we want a class that leaves us in a puddle and washes all hope of a stack of extra classes away with it. We call those classes Unstackable, and we love hearing about our listeners’ Unstackable experiences.
For this week’s Unstackable recommendation, we heard from Maggie P Craig (TexasYesorYes). She said, “6 15-second Z7 intervals at the end of the ride pushed our limits, that ride was beautifully structured, V02 Maxed out was the name of that game! The playlist was perfection.”
The class starts with a 15-minute warmup that progresses from zone 1 to zone 6. Then, following a five-minute zone 5 interval, the rest of the class alternates between dying in 15-second max-effort zone 7 sprints, and gasping for air (and getting your head on straight) in 2-minute recoveries.
The cumulative time at max effort may sound short, but your legs, lungs, heart, and brain will tell you otherwise. Thankfully, Matt’s instruction has you believing you can handle each next zone 7 effort just in time.
Next time you’re up for a taste of zone 7, take this class and let us know how it goes!
Thank you!
