Peloton Predictions: Revisiting Tarot Predictions for 2024

Last Updated: January 2, 2025By Tags:

As we welcome Tarot Card Reader Erica McLean (#FITtMomERICA) back to The Clip Out to reveal what her cards predict for 2025, we’re taking a closer look at how her Peloton predictions for 2024 turned out. This year, we’re breaking down her insights into three categories: predictions that were spot-on, those that were in the ballpark, and ones that didn’t come to fruition. Spoiler alert: She hit some BIG ones—like, BIG-big.

Just like last year, each Peloton prediction (edited for brevity) comes straight from episode 341. Let’s dig in and see how the cards stacked up!

Nailed It!

These Peloton Predictions Were Spot-On!

Peloton Prediction #1:  An Action-Packed 2024

Erica said, “There’s going to be a lot of action, but action, not in a bad way. I feel like there are going to be more things going on authority-wise, maybe switching positions. I felt that maybe even an instructor is climbing the ladder even more to a more authority or more business-type position.”

Outcome

Right out of the gate, Erica nailed this one. In May 2024, Barry McCarthy stepped down as President, CEO, and board member, paving the way for interim co-CEOs Chris Bruzzo and Karen Boone. Bruzzo and Boone led the company through a months-long search for a new CEO, which recently concluded with the announcement of Peter Stern, who will officially take over as Peloton’s CEO and President on January 1, 2025.

Peloton Prediction #2: Instructors Leaving

Erica said, “Earlier, when I was pulling cards, I did see a possibility of somebody leaving. I got a vision of someone staying at Peloton but taking time off to explore other opportunities in the fitness realm. If somebody leaves, I see a male instructor, possibly someone who’s been there a while and is higher on the totem pole. They have a lot to say—not bad, but they’re expressing it on social media. It’s something behind the scenes, maybe related to clashes or feeling unrecognized for their passions.”

Digging deeper, Erica continued, “I feel like there’s almost a clash between them and someone else on the team, maybe a female higher on the totem pole. This isn’t something we’re seeing publicly—it’s kept behind the scenes. Within their group, I sense tension. If anyone leaves, it’s the male. I see them leaving New York and moving somewhere else.”

Outcome

Woof. Where to begin?  This one probably needed a trigger warning. If there was one prediction we (really) wish had been wrong, it’s this one. Peloton’s mass exodus of instructors began with Ross Rayburn.  Following the success of his book Turning Inward, our biomechanics king surprised fans in late April by announcing on Instagram that, after 5 years with the company, he would be leaving Peloton. The news sent a jolt through the Peloton community and his legions of fans immediately began to wonder how in the world they would fall asleep without his soothing meditations to usher them off to dreamland every night. (Thankfully, Peloton has kept his content available on the platform.)

Peloton members barely had time to recover from that news when Kendall Toole announced her departure next.  In early June, Kendall posted a cryptic message to her Instagram leaving fans to speculate wildly, with theories ranging from Kendall is announcing a book to Kendall is releasing an album.  Turns out, she was really just soft launching her departure with a save the date post. As promised, ten days after that post, Kendall took to Instagram to share her news–she, too, was leaving Peloton, leaving her fans wondering who would take the Metal ride-helm in her absence (hint: it’s Charlotte).

And then, it happened.  A third Instructor announced their departure from the platform.  Kristin McGee, in perhaps the most heart wrenching post of all, took to her Instagram three days after Kendall’s announcement to share that she too was leaving Peloton.  Based on her tearful goodbye, it was obvious that, after 6 years with Peloton, she was heartbroken to leave the company and the community. And, the community was equally as heartbroken to see her go.

Although it came as a shock, one instructor leaving to pursue other passions wasn’t exactly unprecedented, especially given Ross’s successful book launch. The departure of two Instructors certainly raised eyebrows.  But when a third Instructor departure was announced, people wanted to know what in the world was happening, and understandably so.  Member speculation over the impetus behind these departures took off like wildfire, leaving many worried that their favorite Instructor was next on the chopping block.  Speculation grew to such a fevered pitch that Peloton felt that they needed to issue a statement about the departures, revealing that contract negotiations were behind the mass exodus (and reassuring Members that no other Instructors would be departing). That continues to be the party line with the former instructors–although some continue to address their departure more than others.

Side note: In another completely unexpected announcement, Tobias Heinz revealed his departure from the Peloton platform in July 2024, unrelated to the recent contract negotiation departures. No additional details about his decision have been shared, but there had been clues pointing to his exit.

Peloton Prediction #3:  A Management Change

With respect to a management change at Peloton, Erica said, “I know there was something else that we need to talk about, in October 2024, that has to do with a change in management. We’re going to see somebody else stepping in, whether Barry’s leaving. We may see something going on there, but not until October 2024.”

Outcome

Peter Stern, CEO Peloton

True!  Ahead of the October 31 earnings call, Peloton announced that Peter Stern would take the helm as Peloton’s new President and CEO starting January 1, 2025. But, let’s back up just a little bit because there was a lot of turnover at Peloton this year, starting with Barry McCarthy’s decision to step down on May 2, 2024. The interim leadership team of Chris Bruzzo and Karen Boone stepped in as co-CEOs and led the search for the person who would permanently assume the position, which led them to Peter Stern. Since the announcement, Stern has been seen multiple times on Peloton Studios Instagram page, revealing what appears to be a willingness to be both fun and accessible, hopefully bringing a much-needed warmth back to the company.

Peloton Prediction #4: A New Modality?

Erica strongly believed that something new was on the horizon for the Peloton platform.  She told us, “I really was seeing the number three. I was also getting the number nine, too, which is my wish card. There’s going to be almost a wish fulfillment for the community or for members. There is something that’s going to happen. I did see it, too, and I remember writing this down about another new modality. I don’t know how we can do another new modality, but I see something new happening. I don’t know if it’s almost in conjunction with something else, but I do see that.”

Outcome

Nailed it again.  In December, Peloton introduced their new app, Strength+. While currently available only for iOS users in the United States, the app delivers something Members have been requesting: a dedicated strength training platform designed for workouts both at home and in the gym.

Change the way you gym. Peloton's introductory offer for it's new Strength+ app for iPhone users. $1/month for the first 6 months for new users.

And, we don’t know if it technically counts as a new modality, but, in a company first, Peloton expanded their class lineup to include furry family members with a new collection called Pet Friendly Fitness. These classes launched in June of 2024 and, while there are only three in the collection as of this writing, we hope they’ll add more in the coming year!

Peloton Prediction #5: Instructor Furloughs

Erica said, “We may see one of the instructors step back a little bit, not leave, whether it’s they’re taking a hiatus, a break, or something, because there are other opportunities. I don’t know if it’s like an overwhelming thing that’s going on or what it is, but you may see that. People may talk. People are like, “What’s going on with this person? Are they okay?” There are a lot of opportunities that they need to take a step back and decide what it is that they want to do.”

Outcome

While it caught the rest of us by surprise, Erica saw this one coming a mile away. It initially began with TCO listeners in our inbox, noticing that a certain Instructor seemed to have been off the live schedule for longer than normal.  Then, in September 2024, Peloton introduced a new fall schedule and, with it, came the introduction of Instructor “off seasons” (aka, furloughs) that tracked all the way back to an under-the-radar blog post written in July of 2024.  In a nutshell, Peloton explained the new “off season” schedule, emphasizing the importance of giving instructors more time to rest and recharge, much like professional athletes. However, this shift also meant members had to get used to not seeing their favorite instructors on the live schedule as often as they were used to, as the blog post went on to suggest that instructors may take longer breaks from live classes, with varying time off for different individuals.

Most instructors are using the time to take extended vacations or enjoy time with their families. However, after some soul searching, Callie Gullickson decided that this was an opportunity to move back to her home-state of Florida with her husband and baby, and now commutes to New York during her scheduled classes.

Peloton Prediction #6: Member Engagement

Moving on to the next prediction, on the subject of Member Engagement, Erica says, “I did see a lot of stuff within the community and with the instructors. It’s something where the community, the people of Peloton, are able to be more present. That’s not physical. There’s going to be more of something where the community is able to participate even though they’re not there, per se, in the studio. There’s more balancing of that so that they can be more known to everybody at Peloton, whether it’s reaching out where Peloton reaches out or making certain members known throughout the year. That’s whether they’re doing videos or commercials or giving incentives or something like that. I do see a balance to make the community happier and more involved, if that makes sense, within 2024.”

Outcome

True! Straight from our October 31 recap of the FY25Q1 earnings call, Peloton is also planning member appreciation events and messages throughout the month of November to activate its loyal customer base and encourage current members to refer and engage their friends and family, who may then join the Peloton family.” And, they did exactly that.  They dedicated this past November to highlighting Member stories, giving Member referral incentives and, local stores even highlighted Member milestones via window ads.

(TCO note: we still firmly believe that Peloton is missing the boat by not reaching out to the true OG Members–the kickstarter members, the ones who have been with the company since the very, very beginning–and showing them some long-overdue love.)

Peloton Prediction #7: Opportunity Knocks for Camila

Erica said, “We talked about the female instructor. I’m seeing a lot of Camila. I’m seeing Camila in a good way. There are a ton of opportunities for her coming in 2024. She is somebody that could move to a different modality as well. We could see her on the rower. I’m going to throw it out there. If it’s not the rower, it could be some other type of modality. She has opportunities in the fitness world that are not Peloton. I see a name brand, whether it’s modeling or that type of deal.”

Outcome

Ding, ding, ding!  We have a winner! Just like Erica, we love Camila, too, and we were so excited to see her bring her infectious energy to not one, not two, but three new platforms at Peloton.  In March of this year, she joined the Groove instructor team and the Dance Cardio team.  Then, this fall, she joined the Strength team and premiered Peloton’s very first Spanish-language strength program, Dale Duro. A lot of opportunities, indeed.  And, while we have yet to see her land a major endorsement deal, Camilla is a regular feature in news articles highlighting the importance of Latina/Latino representation in fitness.

Peloton Prediction #8:  Lots of Logan

Of her tarot card draws, Erica said, “I was getting a lot about Logan as well. There’s going to be more opportunity. I feel like in February 2024, in particular, we’re going to see a lot of him doing different things within the community. We know that he works with people of all kinds. I picked up a lot of energy from him. Keep that in mind. In February 2024, I’m seeing a lot of things going on with him.”

Outcome

a Peloton Just Tabata class with Logan Aldridge

Just Tabata with Logan

True. Just a few days after February ended, Logan introduced his new series Just Tabata on March 3, with classes beginning on March 5, 2024.  Just Tabata is a high intensity series in which Logan tries to kill you….with Tabata.  Logan also continues to build a growing library of adaptive fitness training in Peloton’s Adaptive Training collection.

Peloton Prediction #9: Buns in the Oven

Babies were on the brain when Erica rattled off this prediction: “I did have another birth announcement in February, October, or December 2024. I did see one of the instructors with a birth announcement or welcoming of a child. I had February, October, or December 2024. We’ll either hear an announcement or the birth of a child.”

Outcome

Another accurate prediction! Emma Lovewell announced her pregnancy in February 2024 and welcomed baby girl Skylar in August 2024. Emma makes her return to the Peloton schedule at the beginning of January 2025.  Shortly after Emma’s announcement, Jermaine Johnson also announced that he would be welcoming a new bundle of joy with his wife later in the summer, making him the first instructor to become a Pelo-dad while at Peloton.  JJ and his lovely wife welcomed Raymond David “Ray” Johnson on August 3, 2024.

And, in a festive twist, Bradley Rose shared on Christmas Day that he and his wife, Sophia, are expecting their first baby! The announcement came via an Instagram Reel where the couple pretended to pose for group photos, only for Bradley to exclaim, “Sophia’s pregnant!” instead of the usual “cheese.” The video also featured heartfelt clips of video calls with family and friends who couldn’t be there in person, capturing their joyful reactions to the big news. Bradley and Sophia plan to document their journey to parenthood here, for anyone who would like to follow along. We wish the growing Rose family all the best and can’t wait to see Bradley embrace fatherhood!

Peloton Prediction #10: Instructors with Something to Celebrate

“I do see a lot of celebrations. To me, that could be baby showers. Two instructors. This could be Andy and Rebecca. I don’t know if I see a marriage or a baby, but I see two instructors celebrating. It could be them, but it could be two people that we don’t even know about yet. It is two people. It has to do around two instructors. Whether that’s two instructors getting married or having a baby, I don’t know, but I do see that,” Erica told us.

Outcome

True!  Love was definitely in the air and we had Pelo-wedded bliss x 2 in 2024!  Ben and Leanne Hainsby-Aldis celebrated their love with two wedding ceremonies in May of 2024 and Andy and Rebecca followed suit, also with two ceremonies, in September of 2024.

Peloton Prediction #11: A Big Payoff for Crystal

On the subject of The Clip Out, Erica continued, “I see 2024 being a happy year. By the end, you might feel like, ‘This is our best year yet. We’ve had some of the best people on.’ Every opportunity you have in 2024, hold onto it and stay present—it will be full of moments you’ll look back on with a smile.

There may be times when you feel stressed with everything going on, wondering, ‘How am I going to do this all?’ But you’ll get it done, and you’ll love every second of it. The work may feel intense, but it will pay off in a big way.”

Outcome

True!  On January 10, 2024, Crystal received the exciting news that she would be running the NYC Marathon! While the experience ended with an incredibly joyful finish, she would be the first to admit that the training journey was often overwhelming—and yes, just as Erica predicted, stressful.

These Peloton Predictions Were Pretty Close

Peloton Prediction #12: Robin Arzon, CEO…?

To be fair, Tom jokingly suggested this.  However, here’s what Erica had to say: “That’s who I was thinking. I was pulling cards. In the cards, it was Robin. I pulled The Empress. Robin, to me, is The Empress. I see The Empress and that is Robin. She’s got the jewelry. I see her playing a bigger role within Peloton and climbing the ladder. She could be our next Barry or John Foley type of deal in the future. I can see that maybe coming to fruition.”

Outcome

Robin Arzon celebrating at HYROX Chicago

Robin looking strong AF at the HYROX Chicago competition

In the ballpark–ish.  While she’s not the new CEO of Peloton, that doesn’t mean that Robin hasn’t had a big year.  She competed in her first HYROX competition, rubbed elbows with Richard Branson when she co-hosted the Strive 2024 Adventure on Necker Island, expanded her Instagram reach by incorporating recipe tips from The Queen’s Kitchen, served as keynote speaker for a number of events, and celebrated her 10th anniversary as a Peloton instructor.  She’s definitely out there CEO-ing her life.

Peloton Prediction #13: Peloton on Tour, Part 2?

Curious about a repeat of 2023’s Peloton on Tour, we asked if we’d see that again in 2024. Here’s what Erica had to say: “That’s something that they’re thinking about. There is one particular person management-wise that wants that. They want the on-tour type of deal, but I don’t think everybody’s on board. I see that somebody could get injured or could need a break. Within that type of injury or break, they do tours, going to different Peloton stores to meet different people in the community, travel, or do something in that type of realm. In July 2024, we could see another type of tour thing happening. I don’t think it’s going to be as big as it was in 2023, but I see two males in July 2024 or summertime going somewhere else. It is 2 males and 1 female doing some type of touring in the summertime or beginning of July 2024.”

Outcome

True-ish. Thankfully, no Instructors suffered a major injury this year, although Kirsten Ferguson did suffer from a torn labrum in her hip toward the end of 2023. That, however, didn’t appear to impact any decision about Peloton on Tour returning for 2024.  Instead of another round of Tours, this year Peloton leaned into Instructor appearances at various stores and events.  A mini-tour, if you will, and very reminiscent of Peloton’s early days when Instructors would regularly frequent Peloton stores across the country.

Peloton Prediction #14: The Clip Out

Of course we were curious what the cards said about The Clip Out, so we asked Erica if there was anything in there about us.  Here’s what she said, “There will be more guests coming on that people want, like instructors. Logan might even come to your show, and there could be something happening with him. You’re going to have a lot of action and interest—people wanting to read and engage. It could be instructors or others with strong Peloton ties.

I also see you traveling for the show in the warmer months, potentially involving instructors. In 2024, you’ll be busy with guests and projects for the show, but it’s going to pay off in a big way.”

Outcome

Partially true!  In February of 2024, Ross Rayburn joined The Clip Out book club to discuss his new book Turning Inward.  And, while we haven’t had the occasion to interview other Instructors on the show this year, the door is always open to them! As for travel, Crystal and Tom attended Podcast Movement in August of 2024 (a very warm month, btw) which has, in fact, translated to new things behind the scenes for The Clip Out.  We’ve continued to spotlight Peloton members across the community, showcasing the unique stories and connections that make the Peloton experience so special.

Peloton Prediction #15: Peloton’s International Reach

Erica felt like Peloton was heading into a more international direction, telling us, “We have Germany and Jeffrey—I love them all. I do see other languages, maybe more instructors or countries. Peloton could branch out internationally.”

Outcome

Ballpark-ish.  Although Peloton hasn’t entered new international markets, they’ve deepened their commitment to Spanish-language content. Camila Ramón and Rad Lopez are offering more Spanish classes than ever, and in October 2024, Camila launched her first strength program, Dale Duro.

Peloton Prediction #16: New Things for Robin

Erica shared another prediction about Robin. According to Erica, “Something huge is happening in a good way with Robin. She’s going to get a higher position than where she is. She’ll still be teaching, though.”

Outcome

Robin Arzon Good Morning America Fitness Contributor

Robin now serves as Fitness Contributor for GMA

Ballpark! While she didn’t (that we know of) take on a new role at Peloton, Robin did add morning show correspondent to her resume when she joined the team at Good Morning America as their fitness contributor. It was announced at the end of 2023 (after Erica made her predictions), with her first appearances starting in early 2024.

Peloton Prediction #17: Instructor Foreign Exchange Program

Erica gave an intriguing prediction about Peloton instructors traveling to teach. She said, “I also got that someone’s traveling to teach. I don’t know if that means that somebody maybe from London is going to come here for a while or vice versa. I don’t know, but something traveling and teaching.”

Outcome

Peloton instructors have certainly been all over the world this year, traveling to events both for Peloton and for their personal branding partnerships.  They’ve also continued to “exchange” Instructors–sending Peloton Studios London-based Instructors to PSNY to teach classes and vice-versa.  It seems as though PSNY tends to get more visits from the PSL crew than PSL gets from PSNY, but they’re certainly still traveling to teach.  Most recently, Jeffrey McEachern taught his World AIDS Day class at PSNY on Marathon Weekend in November. Sooooo, we’d say that this is in the ballpark, too!

Unrealized

These Peloton Predictions Didn’t Quite Pan Out

Peloton Prediction #18: A New Modality for Rad

Erica told us, “What I’m going to say is I was getting teamwork and three. There are three people. I don’t even want to say it is new instructors, but I feel like it is three people going to different modalities, whether that’s people from London maybe stepping over to a row type of modality. I see teamwork with three modalities. Let’s ask the cards about Rad. I love Rad. He is one of my favorites for strength. I would love to see him come to the bike.”  She continued, “When I pull my aces, it’s always a yes. I pulled the Ace of Cups. This could be a possibility. If he does go over to the bike, I do see it starting out maybe as a bike bootcamp-type deal. People will be so excited about the energy he brings onto that platform that they could make him even a cycle instructor in the future in a boot camp or cycle. I don’t see it happening right away. This could happen more towards 2024. It’s something that could be in the works. I do see that coming at some point in the future. I also feel Row. Maybe he could get into the rower, too, but I see another modality.”

Outcome

No dice on this one, with a caveat and, in the spirit of full disclosure, Erica was asked about this specifically and did not volunteer this information organically. That said, although Rad hasn’t officially moved to anything other than Strength, he has become quite the runner and will frequently invite members of this Instagram channel to join him for a meet-up run via Rad’s Run Club.  In recent weeks, he has mentioned that he’s working on….something….but no announcements have been made as of the writing of this article.

Peloton Prediction #19: UK Row Instructors

We asked about the rumor of Ben joining the Row team and the possibility of adding a female UK instructor. Here’s what Erica said: “Joslyn screams out at me. I don’t know if it was her who said it, maybe on social media, that she wasn’t going to row or whatever, but I do see her. She’s the first person that comes to mind for me with the rower. She could be tempted to do it. It’s not something she wants to say yes to. She’s sticking where she’s familiar. There are going to be offers on the table for her to come to the row because I do see three people coming.”

Erica continued, “Ben’s going over there. I can see Jeffrey maybe popping over there. I love Jeffrey. I could see him doing something like that. Peloton really wants Joslyn to do it. I feel like she’s strong in everything she does—running, strength, pushups—all of it. She’s being persuaded to do it. They’re like, ‘You should do this.’ Hannah (Frankson), too. Hannah could be a great person on the row. I do see that coming up in the future. Those two could be in the bundle of instructors over there.”

Outcome

A 2023 screenshot of a test class for Ben Alldis on the Peloton Row

We saw it. We WROTE about it. We’re still waiting for it, though.

Sigh.  Despite it being over a year since the images of Ben’s Row rehearsal leaked, we are sad to report that there has been no movement on this particular front. The answer to what held this up remains a mystery, but we do still hope to see this come to pass at some point. Despite no UK instructor additions to the Row team, Joslyn Thompson Rule did join the Strength team earlier this year with the launch of her Discover Strength program.

Peloton Prediction #20: Instructor Drama?

We asked Erica if she saw friction between Instructors and here’s what she had to say, “I did talk about the male and the female. There are people that don’t see eye to eye. There are two instructors. They’re not new instructors. They’re instructors who have been there for a while. They’re set in their ways. I don’t know who they are. In my mind, I’m like, “It’s this one and this one,” but I don’t know. I don’t know if that’s my ego talking or my gut talking. I see two people that don’t see eye to eye in a lot of situations.”

Outcome

Unclear.  If there is any friction between Instructors, they have managed to keep it in the background and out of the public eye.

And, that’s it!  With the majority of her 2024 Peloton predictions coming true, Erica’s Tarot readings have us even more eager to see what 2025 has in store (and fingers crossed—no instructor departures this year!). One thing is certain: her insights always spark excitement and plenty of fodder for us to speculate on. As always, we’ll be here to follow along and see how these predictions play out. Here’s to an exciting and inspiring 2025!
