Peloton added two new Extra Steps Walk classes to its Outdoor on-demand library on March 30, 2026, marking the first additions to the format since September 2025. The classes come from instructors
Marcel Dinkins and
Joslyn Thompson Rule, expanding a format that had gone without new content for six months.
Two New Classes: Different Lengths, One Goal
The two new Extra Steps Walk classes offer different lengths to suit different schedules or goals. Marcel Dinkins leads a
15-minute class targeting approximately 1,500 steps, while Joslyn Thompson Rule leads a
10-minute class targeting approximately 1,000 steps. Both classes use BPM-driven music to guide pacing, a signature feature of the Extra Steps format that keeps members moving in rhythm toward their step targets. They appear to be the first Extra Steps classes added to the Outdoor category so they can be done anywhere, on a Tread or out in the wild.
What Makes the Peloton Extra Steps Walk Format Unique
The Extra Steps Walk format launched on Peloton in early 2025 as a class type designed to be stacked onto other workouts or taken independently. Like the Extra 10 format, Extra Steps classes are short, focused sessions intended to help members hit daily step goals. The classes use music tempo to guide movement pace, making them more dynamic than a standard walking workout. Before this week’s additions, the most recent Peloton Extra Steps Walk classes had dropped in September 2025, making today’s releases the first new content in this format in roughly six months.
On the platform you can find older classes by Rebecca Kennedy, Jess King, Matty Maggiacomo, Emma Lovewell, Jon Hosking and Kirsten Ferguson. They came in a variety of steps achieved ranging from 1000 steps to 2500 steps, and can be found in the Walking library.

Marcel Dinkins Brings Her Energy to the Format
Marcel Dinkins, one of Peloton’s most accomplished tread instructors, brings her signature energy to the Extra Steps Walk format with the 15-minute class. Dinkins has had a meaningful journey at Peloton, taking a leave of absence to
recover from a personal injury before returning to the Tread schedule. Her new Extra Steps class is her first and marks another expansion of her content contribution to the platform and gives her community a shorter-format option to move alongside her.

Joslyn Thompson Rule Adds to Her Walking Library
London-based instructor Joslyn Thompson Rule, known primarily for her Strength and Tread classes, contributes to this batch of Peloton Extra Steps Walk classes with a 10-minute entry. Thompson Rule has been active in Peloton’s walking programming, including community walks and on-demand content. Her addition expands the Extra Steps library with a quick, accessible option for members looking for a shorter step-focused session. If you love this class, she also has a 1500 steps and a 2500 steps format in the Walking library.
A Format Worth Revisiting
The six-month gap between Extra Steps Walk releases is a reminder that the format remains a living part of Peloton’s content strategy, even when additions come infrequently. Members who use the Extra Steps classes to supplement their daily movement will welcome these two new options. For anyone who has not yet tried the format, the newly released classes from Marcel Dinkins and Joslyn Thompson Rule make a natural starting point.
There are so many choices of how to use them – add them to another walk, use them after dinner to improve digestion (as Peloton suggests in their “post meal walks” as well) and blood sugar management, join Marcel or JTR on your lunch break when you need to get out of the office for a few minutes or grab the stroller to take your little one out in the beautiful Spring weather. With so many options these classes are sure to be a home run.
