TCO Top 5 Favorite Peloton classes: Stay motivated with this week’s picks (10/30/23)

The Clip Out community was absolutely abuzz this week with Power Zone love–two hours of it to be exact! And while the favorite classes conversation was flooded with recommendations to take Matt Wilpers’ 120-min Power Zone Ride, there were lots of killer Hikes and Bootcamps, incredible Halloween costumes, and artist series classes to get excited about too. We’re sharing the five most enthusiastic nominations from our community (in no particular order) and a quick review of each class. Read on for our weekly dose of motivation!

This week’s favorite Peloton classes:

  1. 10/26/23 30 min Ludacris Yoga Flow with Denis Morton
  2. 10/23/23 30 min 80s Bootcamp with Katie Wang
  3. 10/29/23 30 min Halloween Walk with Matty Maggiacomo
  4. 10/30/23 30 min Hike with Kirsten Ferguson
  5. 10/28/23 120 min Power Zone Endurance Ride with Matt Wilpers

Why you loved them!

Sometimes it’s hard to pick just one favorite, but these reviews make it easy! Here’s what the TCO Group had to say about their favorite classes from the last week.

1. Favorite Peloton Artist Series Yoga

10/26/23 30 min Ludacris Yoga Flow with Denis Morton

Mindy Jensen (LuvFitness_Food) shows us that Artist Series classes are the perfect invitation to try something new. What ended up being her favorite class of the week is actually something she would never normally opt into.

“I am not a yoga flow fan. I love the quick 10-min focus flows to stretch what I need and that’s about it. Well, Denis Morton’s 30-minute Ludacris Yoga Flow from 10/26/23 got me to do a full-length class. I had just got done with a run and this somehow called out to me. I really appreciated Denis leaving the music “as the artist intended.” It was a great class, I worked up a little sweat and sang some sassy lyrics.”

As Mindy alludes, the playlist is explicit. All nine songs earned that little “E” on their listing! But the playlist is a celebration of Ludacris’ catalog and his contributions to Hip Hop. It kicks off with Rollout (for rolling out the spine!) and includes Stand UpMove Bitch, and Money Maker. The class is an energetic mix of twists, lunges, and vinyasa flowing, perfect for making yoga even a non-yogi’s favorite.

2. Favorite Peloton Row Bootcamp

10/23/23 30 min 80s Bootcamp with Katie Wang

Becky Kithcart Gomez loved this 80s Row Bootcamp, not just for the great workout, but also for the Adam Sandler + Drew Barrymore 80s-based-romcom-inspired playlist.

“Katie’s 80s Row Bootcamp from 10/23 was so fun. The playlist was all songs from the movie The Wedding Singer,” she said. “It was a really good and efficient workout for just 30 minutes also.”

If you know The Wedding Singer, you probably already have Do You Really Want to Hurt Me by Culture Club playing in your head–that one made the playlist for sure, in addition to You Spin Me Round (Like a Record) by Dead or Alive, White Wedding by Billy Idol, and You Make My Dreams (Come True) by Daryl Hall & John Oates, to name a few.

Katie programmed this class with two blocks of Rowing as bookends to a 13-minute strength block. The strength block includes bicep curls, overhead presses, squats, bent-over rows, and dumbbell swings. The Row blocks are made of intervals that build in intensity and duration, culminating in 90 seconds of a challenging effort just before the final cooldown.

3. Favorite Peloton Halloween Walk

10/29/23 30 min Halloween Walk with Matty Maggiacomo

Matty always makes the most of Halloween (or any excuse to dress up!), and this year is no exception. Our listeners loved this year’s alien theme, where Matty and his alien alter-ego, Non-Human Bioligic Matty, have done a Freaky Friday body swap of sorts for this very special event.

Susan Yang (EyeWillSurvive) and Dina Williams Rosas both loved the entire class experience.

“Matty’s costume was out of this world and his alien or human game throughout was soooooo funny,” said Susan.

Dina Williams Rosas said, “That costume. I can’t fathom how long it took to do it. He had a ton of fun with this.”

Non-Human Biologic Matty takes the class through a fantastic interplanetary experience–the Tread is basically the stage for his one-man show! He entertains with stories from his alien planet–like when his alien children went to summer camp with Emperor David Bowie’s alien children (trust me, it makes sense when Matty tells it…). Non-Human Biologic Matty also shares that he dated Chewbacca briefly in college, that is until things got a little… harry.

The playlist for this class is perfectly space-themed, with songs like Beastie Boys’ Intergalactic, Katy Perry’s E.T., Quad City DJ’s Space Jam, and Britney Spears’ Alien. And for the cooldown, Non-Human Biologic Matty leads the studio in a singalong to Celine Dion’s It’s All Coming Back to Me Now, which isn’t space-themed, but Celine Dion is a very popular artist on his planet, so we let it slide.

4. Favorite Peloton Hike

10/30/23 30 min Hike with Kirsten Ferguson

This class would have been the Unstackable pick of the week if not for the premier 120-minute Power Zone Ride that took over our message boards (more on that later). But we’re so glad to include it as our favorite Hike of the week!

Trish LaLonde is no stranger to hard work, and she found this 30-minute Hike to be a total butt-kicker.

“Kirsten Ferguson’s 30 min Hike [from] Oct 30th… She did not go below 10 incline for like the entire class!!! And was up at 12-15,” she said. “My legs were done!”

If 30 minutes of 10-15 incline doesn’t pique your interest, Kirsten’s positive energy and upbeat music should! The playlist includes Hip Hop and R&B jams like Unpredictable by Jamie Foxx ft. Ludacris, Oops (Oh My) by Tweet ft. Missy Elliott, and No, No, No, Pt. 1 by Destiny’s Child.

5. Favorite Peloton Unstackable Ride

10/28/23 120 min Power Zone Endurance Ride with Matt Wilpers

Sometimes we want a class that leaves us in a puddle and washes all hope of a stack of extra classes away with it. We call those classes Unstackable, and we love hearing about our listeners’ Unstackable experiences.

For this week’s “Unstackable” recommendation, we heard from SO MANY OF YOU!

In case you missed it, we shared a few weeks ago that Matt Wilpers would be celebrating his birthday with a long-awaited and first-ever 2-hour Power Zone Ride on Oct. 28. Our listeners got the memo and absolutely loved this class.

Here are some of our favorite comments about this class:

Billy Lenoir II said, “The playlist was great, the energy, and the structure to survive for us that aren’t used to riding that long! Also it really helped me reinforce mentally that the training I’m doing is working!”

Michael S. Davern said, “The first hour flew by, the second hour also flew, but the last 15 minutes were something special. Matt mentioned at the end of the ride that true cyclists sometimes say that long rides on a stationary bike are harder than riding outside as you get no downhills. You are pedaling all the time. So true.”

Elizabeth (minutetospinit) said, “Felt like the old days of “appointment” riding when “everyone” just had to be there. And for all 7K people who were, he really let us know how much he appreciated that we were all there for this with him. Especially those west coasters, wow, that was dedication!”

Kelly Quirk-Ceperley said, “It was really great to ride with so many people with so many high fives and to watch Alex and Logan’s faces in the camera! Logan was jamming around and at some points Alex looked like he was suffering. Also the last 15 minutes of the soundtrack really helped get you through.”

The class playlist is as eclectic as they come, with songs from RÜFÜS DU SOL, Bon Jovi, Ice Cube, Britney Spears, Gloria Gaynor, and Queen. With 35 songs on the list, there’s bound to be something for everyone.

The class is a true feat of endurance, but our listeners make it sound doable! If you take this class too, please let us know how it goes!

Thank you!
