Review: Katie Wang’s Intervals and Arms Row Class – A New Way to Feel the Burn
The newest class format happened live this morning with Katie Wang’s 20-minute Intervals and Arms Row, and we hope for many more of these classes in the future!
What to Expect
Katie Wang’s new class was a great combination of upper body with the use of light (Katie suggested 1-3 pound) weights and rowing, which of course targets your whole body, with lots of focus on the lower body.
Our Review
The Peloton community has taken advantage of the Intervals and Arms classes on the Bike for years, and it’s fantastic that we can now experience the joy of burning out our arms and toning those smaller muscle fibers on the Row.
This is a great new format, especially for those that are short on time and need to combine strength and cardio in one power packed workout. Katie pointed out that the rower works the back of the arms, so her focus during the arm intervals in this class were the front of the arms.
Class Structure
The class has three row intervals with two arm intervals (6 minutes and 3 minutes) sandwiched in between. In twenty minutes, I got a great arm workout, plenty of cardio, and the usual glutes, legs, and core workout from the rower itself. We also unstrapped our feet from the rower and sat at the back of the rower to do the arm intervals, which worked the core as well. Katie even had us lean back to mimic an incline for one of the exercises, taxing the core even more.
If you’ve never tried an Intervals and Arms class, be aware that the moves that are called out with these light weights will make you wonder if you really did pick up your light weights – you will definitely feel the burn!
We’ll be looking for these classes in the future to get a great full body workout plus a cardio hit!
If you missed this class, you can join Katie on May 7 at 9:00PM (ET) for a 30 minute Intervals and Arms Row.
Thanks, Katie, for giving us yet another type of class to love!
