Peloton Staffer Wins Olympic Gold in Rowing with Team USA
This amazing victory may not be on Snoop’s radar (yet!), but Peloton had a big high five ready for its Transportation Department employee, Nick Mead, as he and his team rowed to Gold in the Men’s Four in Vaires-Sur-Marne, France in the 2024 Summer Olympics.
Team USA Rows to Victory
Coming off a six-decade medal drought, Mead and his teammates, Michael Grady, Liam Corrigan, and Justin Best, made it happen in spectacular fashion. Already a well-oiled machine, having competed together since last season and picking up a Silver meal at last year’s World Championships, this Olympic victory was extra sweet as each of them missed the podium in the Tokyo Olympic Games in their respective events four years ago.
Wait, Nick Mead is Not an Instructor?
It may surprise the Pelo-verse to learn that Mead is an employee – and not an instructor! – at Peloton. Working in the Transportation department as a Senior Planner, and having a background in Supply Chain logistics and Operations, it tracks that Mead would be in the right mindset for making this happen smoothly and efficiently. His progression in the sport from a small Pennsylvania high school, to Division 1 at Princeton, to being named USRowing’s Male Athlete of the Year in 2023 is a testament to hard work and focus. As fellow members, I think we can all agree that this is pretty spectacular!
One Pelotoner who likely has the highest of high fives for Mead would be Row instructor Alex Karwoski. Although his bid for the Olympic team came up short this year, we suspect that the Row team, as well as all of the Instructors, are exclaiming “together we row far” in support of Mead and his teammates today.
Congratulations, Nick!
