Peloton Bike+ Recalled Over Fall and Injury Risk
Peloton Original Bike+ Recalled Over Fall and Injury Risk
Peloton, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), has announced a recall for the Original Series Bike+. The action comes after reports of the seat post assembly breaking, which presents a significant fall and injury hazard to users. This article breaks down the essential information you need to know about this recall.
Overview of the Recall
On November 6, 2025, a recall was issued for approximately 833,000 Peloton Original Series Bike+ units. The specific model affected is the PL02. This recall only involves the Original Series Bike+ and does not apply to other Peloton bike models (not the Original Bike or the new Cross Training Series).
The bike is identified by its model number PL02 and serial numbers that start with the letter “T”. You can find the serial number on the inside of the front fork, behind the front fork, or behind the flywheel.
Details of the Hazard
The recall addresses a serious structural issue. The seat post assembly on the affected bikes can unexpectedly break and detach while the bike is in use. This failure can cause the rider to fall abruptly, leading to potential injuries. The remedy provided by Peloton is a free repair, which involves a replacement seat post that owners can install themselves. View video instructions or download an instructional PDF here.
Incidents and Injuries Reported
To date, Peloton has been notified of three incidents where the seat post broke and detached from the bike during a workout. These incidents have resulted in two reported injuries caused by falls. According the Health Canada’s recall notice, “The issue has occurred in users who are taller than 5’10” (177 cm) and above 250 pounds (114 kg).” Peloton’s own guidelines recommend the Bike+ for users under 297 lbs/135kg. Given the nature of the defect, the risk of injury is a primary concern, prompting the CPSC and Peloton to take immediate, voluntary action.
Where and When the Bikes Were Sold and Manufactured
The recalled Peloton Bike+ units were sold across the country through multiple channels. They were available at Peloton and Dick’s Sporting Goods retail stores. Online purchases were made through onepeloton.com, ebay.com, Amazon.com, and Dickssportinggoods.com. The bikes were sold from January 2020 through April 2025, with a retail price of approximately $2,495. Affected bike models in this recall were manufactured between 2019 and 2022.
Does this Affect the 2023 Original Bike Seat Post Recall and Replacement?
No, the seat post designs for the Original Bike and the Bike+ are different. If you received a replacement post during the 2023 Recall on your Original Bike, this current recall does not impact your equipment.
However, if you own an Original Bike+, this does affect you. We spoke to Peloton and they shared this information:
Yes. The Original Series Bike+ replacement seat post is designed specifically for the Bike+. All Members with a Peloton Original Series Bike+ included in this recall are eligible for and should obtain a free, replacement seat post specific to the recalled Bike+ model.
This recall only applies to certain seat posts on Peloton Original Series Bike+ units that have a serial number beginning with “T” (i.e. TABCSSXXXXX). To locate your Bike+ serial number visit here.
