Kristin McGee At Tonal? Plus our Interview with Julie Brewer
We are back from New York, and I came back to a sh*t show. We got back and in my office at work, a pipe had frozen and broken and dumped water all over the admin offices.
Including all of your amazing momentos.
I had a copy of Entertainment Weekly when Superbad came out, signed by Jonah Hill and Michael Cera. It was ruined. Your anniversary/Valentine’s Day present was ruined. It’s a one-of-a-kind thing. I had a cool Monkees lithograph signed by all four. I was able to save that in time. That was from the late β90s and it was signed by all four. They only did 500 of them. Luckily, the frame took all the damage. I had to pay to have it reframed. The actual sign lithograph did not get damaged.
Itβs great because itβs irreplaceable.
Yes, especially the three of the four are no longer with us.
On the bright side that didn’t happen at our house because you would have had a lot more.
It would have been our house.
There are a lot of people who are dealing with this very thing, with all the fires and everything.
It’s like a little window into I lost two or three things and they’re losing everything. There are people in LA who took time out of their day to tune in to this and are like, βYou whining son of a b*tch.β
I would feel that way if I were them. Most people also recognize that all of these things are subjective. You didn’t know that that a pipe would burst in your office and they didn’t know that they were going to have a fire heading for their house. It’s one of those situations where neither of you could do anything about it.
We went to New York and I took off Friday. I was off Monday because of Martin Luther King, so I went back in on Tuesday to all this. Now is Wednesday and I haven’t been able to do any work for five days because my computer got roached. I came in and the power strip that the computer was plugged into was smoking.
That’s one of those βDon’t touch that.β
What pray tell do you have in store for people?
We have our interview with Julie Brewer. The audience might remember finding a cool post from her a while back on the OPP. There’s not a lot of those cool posts. She posted about donating her kidney to her mom and we have her on to talk about that whole journey. That’ll be a great discussion. We also have a bunch of new stories. Peloton released some stuff like new workout plans that you could personalize. It’s already been in the Guide but it’s new to the app. A lot of people have never seen it.
Peloton apparel officially has dropped to Target. We spotted that a few weeks ago. It is out now. Peloton and Hilton have expanded their partnership. We’re going to talk about that. We have some details about the Peloton beta testing for the immersive experience. We also have an update on the PR fiasco because people weren’t getting their PRS.
Weβre going to talk about all of that and some new lawsuit stuff. Peloton is raising money for people who are affected by the LA fires, not to mention Instructors In The News, and we have an update on Kristin McGee, a huge one. Iβm excited about this. While we’re there, we’ll also do a little deep dive into our visit to Tonal, and then we have content. All kinds of stuff today.
Before we get to all that, shameless plugs. Don’t forget, we’re available on Apple Podcasts,Β Spotify,Β iHeart,Β and TuneIn. Wherever you find a podcast, you can find us. While you are there, be sure and follow us so you never miss an episode. Maybe leave us a review. Thatβs super helpful. If you want to support the show financially, it’s only $5 a month over on Patreon, Patreon.com/TheClipOut.
What do you get for your $5? You get ad-free episodes. You get bonus content. Last week’s was like 37 minutes. It was crazy. If we get the episode early, you get the episodes early. It’s a nice easy way to help fund a lot of the core expenses of the show like web hosting, paying writers, and all the things that go into it.
You can also find us on Facebook at Facebook.com/TheClipOut. While you’re there, like the page and join the group. You can sign up for the newsletter at TheClipOut.com, which I realized I forgot to send out this week because we were in New York. You can watch all of these over on YouTube. There’s all that. Let’s dig in. Shall we?
Before we dig in, do you want to tell people what we’re talking about on Patreon?
I got so flustered by getting the Patreon wrong. Over on the Patreon bonus episode, here’s what we’re going to talk about. We’re going to talk about who the hardest instructors are. If you’re looking for the hardest instructor or looking to avoid the hardest instructor, either way, that’s helpful. Weβll do the podcast roundup of where you can find the instructors on, where you can meet Christine DβErcole and we’ll talk a little bit about our New York trip and give you some more details about what we did while we were in in NYC. Now there is all that. Let’s dig in. Shall we?
We shall.
—
Peloton now creates personalized workout plans.
What that means is a couple of things. Number one, if you’ve had the Guide for a little while, you know this. With the Guide, you can go in and you can say, βI want to do strength. I want to do it three days a week and I want to focus on building strength versus fat loss.β It will then give you classes. Each week, it’ll say, βHere are your picks,β and it will then start on a Monday and you can pick which day I believe. Every time you log in on that day, it will give you like, βHere’s your next class and your list.β That was on the Guide. Now it has rolled out to the app for everybody to be able to use.
I’m sure people will dig that.
I know there are some positives here, but itβs not that exciting of an update. I’m not trying to be mean or anything like that, but what I kept running into and the feedback I got from other people about it is that it would focus on an instructor even if you didn’t ask for that instructor because there’s no way to do that, by the way, and then you would get a lot of that instructor.
Meanwhile, somebody else who’s doing something very similar to you will be focused on a different instructor and it’s odd. It’s not 100% like that. Do you know, how you play a Spotify playlist and they start doing the same artists over and over again? It’s like that. I haven’t used it in a while over on the Guide and people stopped bringing it up, meaning they’re not using it. They stopped talking about it as much. Maybe they figured that out before they rolled it out to the app. That was my experience several months ago and maybe that’s not happening anymore. That’s what it is.
It seems like they have AI going there and they don’t get quite all the bugs worked out. That’s what it felt like at the time. There was programming. I know that personalization has been a big thing for Peloton for a long time. I get where they’re trying to go with it. I don’t know with the people that are doing it if they’re ever going to be able to make it so niche for every single person.
They have focus areas now where strength cardio or balance training, and then Peloton is going to suggest classes. I am so picky about who I will now take. I used to take classes with a lot of different people on the bike. Now that I’m so into the tread, it’s difficult for me. I’m worried they’re not going to pick enough classes on the tread for me and they’re going to want me to do something I don’t want to do.
People say this a lot about AI. They love to point out things AI gets wrong and are like, βSee, this is why we don’t need to be worried about it.β Whenever I hear that, all I can think is let’s go back in time 25 years. Do you remember what MapQuest was like?
So much has changed already in such a short time. I agree with you, Tom. I think these things learn incredibly fast.
I’m sure they learn even faster than they did 25 years ago. I remember when you would use MapQuest. If I’m trying to get from Saint Louis to Orlando, it can do that, but now take me into this neighborhood, it would get wrong a lot. Nowadays with Google Maps or Waze, you don’t even question it. Of course, it’s going to get it right. I don’t think AI is there but it’s getting there really fast, and it’s going to be there way faster than it took something like Google Maps to get there. I do think that in the not-too-distant future, it will be able to select classes for picky people like you.
I will keep you updated.
I have no doubt. The audience already knew that this was coming but Peloton apparel is now officially available at Target.
We had assumed that it was going to be a Third party and it is, which means that you’re still buying and getting it shipped from Peloton. I feel like that’s an important thing to know.
That means this is available on Target’s website, not in a Target store.
I never read their release. That probably would have been helpful. I only looked at the Target website, but I think that’s true.
If they are a third party, then they’re not shipping inventory to every Target in America.
I would agree with that. You can get the little handheld weights there too online. The other interesting thing is you can return things, but you’re never going to get the sale price. If you’re buying from Peloton directly, they have all their sales over there. I don’t know that they’re going to go over to Target and honor those sales.
I wonder how it might work that if there’s something you like thatβs sold out, it will maybe be available on Target.
It might, but that’s too soon to know. That’s very possible.
Something to keep an eye on.
Another interesting note is it only appears to be Pelotonβs Cadent line. It is not like they’re Lululemon collab. This is Peloton branded only.
That makes sense. Lululemon probably thinks Target is beneath them and they don’t want to sully the good name of Lululemon by popping up it at Target.
That is probably true. It also appears that so far, it’s mostly the Cadent line there. There are other things but it’s mostly the Cadent line that is available. Itβs a lot less on Target than you’re going to find on the Peloton website for those two reasons.
Fresh on the heels of this announcement, Jess Sims was at Target. Was she shopping there?
She was pushing some KaβChava, which is the brand that she reps. Itβs not her brand. It’s a brand that she collabs with. It was a KaβChava event at a Target. Three brands came together for their synergy event. Well, four because Sims is her own brand. That was all the all the things happening.
Peloton and Hilton have expanded their partnership.
The big thing that seems to have changed is that now some rooms have Pelotons in them.
I think they’re calling them connected rooms.
They are and for some reason, they made Cody the spokesperson of this. He’s goofy in this commercial. That’s why I’m laughing. I can’t think of how that’s a downside for anybody involved. That has to be a good win-win-win for everybody.
He’s arguably the most recognized Peloton instructor.
A lot of people feel that way. It’s hard for me to imagine because I’ve been immersed in this world for so long. To me, that seems odd, but like when he was on Dancing With the Stars, people were like, βWho?β
If you stop someone on the street and ask them to name a Peloton instructor, I think he’s the one that’s most likely to get his name-checked.
I think that’s fair.
Thanks to Reddit, we have some more details about Peloton beta testing their new immersive experience.
It’s not much more than what we knew before. It’s mostly people’s comments that are interesting to me. Reddit is not my favorite forum. I think I’ve made that pretty clear. Everybody’s comparing it to Zwift because we know that when it is some virtual setup, youβre immersed in it. We also know that it’s only for the Bike+. Those are the three things and we do know that the people are thinking that is because of the auto resistance. That’s one of the comments.
A lot of the comments that came out of this are that people are comparing it to what else is out there already. One of the brands out there has a bike, a row, and a treadmill. All of them are connected to games. That’s their big thing. Zwift has long been the gaming platform or it’s been the cycling platform that gamified the most and the longest. That’s been the one that so many people have used.
It is also huge because there have been so many people using Zwift for so long that they have such a huge database. You have a much larger chance of playing Zwift with a friend that you know than you do with some of these others that are up and coming. Peloton would have its own built-in base with that, so that’s different. It’s amusing to read people’s responses to this.
Most of it is people don’t get it. They don’t understand why they’re doing it. They don’t understand or they’re like, βThis would be the only thing that would make me buy a Bike+.β I can’t imagine that being the reason you buy a Bike+. I’m not knocking it or anything. I think it’d be a fun experience, but I can’t imagine only buying a bike because it had games on it. That would not appeal to me.
On the flip side, harkening back to a story we talked about two weeks ago about Peloton targeting men without losing women. I think this might be what that is because you don’t care, but you are not a man.
Will this make you play?
No, but I’m not a video game guy. I’m still an outlier in that regard, but men are more likely to be in video games than women are. I think that’s part of what this is. Some women like video games. Some men like spin classes and they’re fine how they are, but painting with a broad brush, itβs a more dominated space by men in the world of video games to its detriment more often than not. I wonder if this is part of their long-term plan to get more men on the platform.
I think that makes a lot of sense.
If you feel like your PRs have been missing, you’re not wrong.
There was a period from the 19th through the 21st of January where you might have hit a PR and you didn’t get your little gold star badge. It might have even shown you on the screen that you got a PR but when you went back to look at that class, it was gone. It’s not gone. First of all, the class that you took is still recorded. You still have it from that perspective. A few indeed.
Second of all, Peloton figured out what was happening,g and not only are they fixing it to make sure it’s not happening going forward, but they are backfilling peopleβs PR that got missed. Remember, there are millions of people on the platform. I would hope by Friday, everyone will have had their PRs by then backfilled if you missed it. If you didn’t, reach out to support and do the chat. That is probably your best bet.
There is a petition being circulated to get Peloton to stop charging their $95 fee when someone buys a bike on the secondary market. Good luck to you.
With all the things happening in the world right now, and companies have gone mad at the things that are happening, is this the hill you want to die on?
I was looking at the website PRIG.org. I forget exactly what it stands for. It seems to be dedicated toward consumer protection things, and targeting junk fees, convenience fees, and all the Ticketmaster fees, things like that. This would fall under their purview of like, βYou bought something that we sold you. You don’t own it.β
Peloton didn’t sell it to them and they’re not even saying you don’t own it. They’re saying you have to activate it. If you want to be on our platform and you want to use our sh*t, then you want to be connected and you want to make sure you have all the protections that go with that, and then you need to activate. I could make a case for either side. It’s a money grab like, βThere are too many bikes in the second-hand market and we want to get a piece of it.β
It reminds me very much of the late β90s, when the music companies were getting mad about used CDs and how much money that was costing them, and then Napster hit and they were like, βRemember the good old days when it was just used CDs.β You didn’t buy the equipment. It’s like if you sold a car and they were like, βIf you want to activate your car.β
That day is coming.
They’re going to try, especially with all the stuff that your car can do now with a touchscreen. They’re already doing that like, βIf you want maps to work built-in, you have to download this other thing.β I think most people tend to ignore that because you can plug your phone in, but I wait for that day.
Look at the TVs. Now the TVs are coming with commercials unless you buy the kind that doesn’t. You have to pay attention, especially if you buy something cheap because you’re like, βMy kid wants a TV. This one is cheap.β
You see those 70-inch screen TVs for $500. That is because they can control the TV and you’re going to be looking at ads as your screen saver. Maybe that’s not a big deal for you and it’s worth the savings, but if you have bought a TV lately and you’re wondering why some 70-inch screens are $2,500 and some are $450 and they seem to have the same specs, that’s what’s going on.
That’s my point about this. Is this where we want to draw the line? To me, the TVs that way more people have should be a larger concern. You have no control over what you’re watching. You do not say when the commercials turn on or off. They do. That’s a real problem.
I don’t believe it interrupts your show, but also those TVs, even the ones you pay a lot of money for, they’re all data collections now. That’s part of the other reason, you’ve seen the price of TVs drop. It doesn’t have anything to do with better technology or a better economy. They want you to buy their TV because they’re selling your viewing data.
I’m not saying Peloton is in the right 100% and everybody should just be fine with this. What I am saying is itβs a wild crazy world out there right now. This seems like a silly thing to put energy towards. That’s all.
If you’re wondering what they’re doing with that $95, they took $40,000 of it and spent it on lobbyists last year.
FYI, they’ve been spinning lobbyist money for years. This is probably the smallest amount they spent thus far.
That doesn’t sound like a whole lot.
It is nice to have the Peloton and its app for daily workouts. Exercising every day or every week has never been easier. Share on XIt doesn’t. I feel like somebody bothered to make an article about it.
It almost sounds to me. I’m guessing and I know next to nothing about lobbying, but given the grand scheme of things, what a small amount of money that is. It makes me think that maybe they’re part of a larger lobbying group. This is their membership fee to be a part of that group. That’s just me guessing and I know nothing about lobbyists, except that they’re stupid expensive and you have to spend millions upon millions of dollars to affect the system.
Also, this is $40,000.
It makes me think that Peloton paid $40,000. Nordic Track paid $40,000. Equinox, you know.
The other thing is that the Lobbying Disclosure Act is new. This was only from Q4. I will point that out.
It’s not even for the years. Itβs for the quarter.
It says from Q4. It says $40,000. I don’t know if they only disclose Q4 or if it’s from the Q4 earnings and that was the whole year. I don’t know the answer to that. I didn’t dig in. I was not that worried about it, to be honest.
I guess this is probably the last year we’ll report about it because I doubt there will be lobby disclosures in the future.
Regulations, left and right, are going out the windows. It’s wild out there. I don’t know.
Also, Peloton will be accepting donations for the LA fires.
They had a couple of days at the PSNY, that last week that you were able to go and donate things, so you were able to donate basic necessities. I want to keep bringing this up because we will probably see more opportunities like this in the future to be able to do.
They will be dealing with this for years.
Probably next week, we are going to have a discussion with Dr. Jenn about it. She lives out in Hollywood and right in the middle of it. We are going to hear directly from her about how things have been on her end of things. When you hear it from watching the news or from a person who’s going through this stuff, it’s clear this is going to have lasting repercussions.
Coming up after this, we’re going to cover instructors in the news. We’re going to talk about their new in-ear monitors and which instructor you will be able to see on an upcoming episode of Impractical Jokers. Don’t go away.
βββ
The instructors have gotten new in-ear monitors so they can hear the control room while they’re instructing.
I was under the impression that it’s also so that it’s picking up sound better from the room. Overall, the entire sound has improved because it’s picking up better quality from the room.
As you scroll through the images on the Instagram post, there was one where they were taking a custom mold of the instructorsβ ear. I’m sure some of the improved sound is that it fits your ear better.
Something that you may not realize is part of the sound issue. It’s not even a real issue. You get used to it, but something that has improved that you don’t even think about is they’re sweating and huffing. I think that the slightest movement is going to make a difference in how it sounds into the microphone.
Like when you brushed it. My guess is that these custom mold in-ears with all the movement they do, they’re going to stay in place in a way that off-the-rack ones wouldn’t. My guess is that these are probably comparable to the in-ears that you would see that Taylor Swift or Guns βN Roses use. I don’t know if they use in-ear. They might not like them because they’re old school. They like the monitors, but a lot of those older rock bands don’t like in-ear. I would think this is exactly what top-tier musicians are using.
It makes a lot of sense. I think it’s pretty cool and I appreciate it. I have to say that this is courtesy of Marcel Maurer providing this on his Instagram. I know some of the other instructors did too but he had a lot of pictures that I found super fascinating. I nerd out over that stuff.
The new season of Impractical Jokers is starting here soon. Ally Love is featured prominently in a new episode.
I have heard a lot of people say that it was Jess King but everything that comes out that’s official about it has been mentioning Ally Love. I don’t know.
Maybe it’s Ally Love and then Jess King comes in or something. They take over a class and they do something wacky.
I don’t get this show. This is another thing that I don’t get it. I’ve watched a few minutes of it and I was like, βWhy is this funny to people?β I think there is something wrong with my humor when it comes to stuff like this.
I don’t agree with that, but this show does nothing for me. Itβs very popular.
This reminds me of the same humor as Napoleon Dynamite. It’s not the same humor. I’m sorry. Let me say that over. My reaction is the same, which is everyone else is laughing and I don’t get it at all.
I get in Napoleon Dynamite. It’s like a safer version of Jackass, and that show never did much for me either, but it is very popular.
Whether it’s Ally Love, Jess King, or both, itβs still a huge deal. It’s a huge deal for Peloton. That’s awesome, but I just don’t get it.
If you are a real estate agent in the New Jersey area, Robin Arzon wants to talk to you, although she’s probably got one by now. Iβm sure sheβs flooded.
I’m sure she was. Ocean City, New Jersey, so I can’t decide if this means she’s moving because it says Jersey Shore. Does that mean she wants a vacation home?
A second home maybe. I don’t know enough about Jersey to know what’s where.
I don’t either. I know New Jersey is very small compared to Missouri or something like that, but I don’t know how far or how long it takes to get from Jersey Shore to New York City versus somewhere else in New Jersey. I’m sure somebody will film me. We have lots of listeners up there.
All I know is Red Bank because of Kevin Smith, Paterson, New Jersey because it’s the home of Lou Costello.
I know our Helper Bee Nikki lives up there somewhere near the drone.
Sheβs been a pilot. Thatβs her side hustle. She pilots drones.
I didn’t know that. It makes sense though.
Sheβs very adept.
If she’s doing that, she’s sure is. I need to know more, Nikki.
Becs Gentry is doing something called the Grandma’s Marathon. I don’t know what that means.
All of these marathons have names. That is the name. Itβs a beloved marathon. This marathon is huge. I believe it’s in Minnesota. This is a very popular marathon. I believe it takes place in July. People get super excited about it. For example, one of the running companies that I follow is Sarah Marie Running Design. I love her sweatshirts. She does one for Big Sur and all the majors. She does one for grandmas, and a lot of people do. That is not uncommon. It’s a special marathon.
I have never heard of it. I feel like, as long as we’ve been doing this, I know what the world majors are. At first, I thought people were making fun of your age.
They didn’t, but it’s good to know that’s where your head went.
It’s called Grandma’s Marathon.
Do you think Becs Gentry is old? Is that what you’re saying? Does she look like a grandma? She’s a brand new mom, Tom.
It’s called Grandma’s Marathon. I don’t think it’s crazy that. I’m just like, βWhat does that mean?β
It is not crazy.
I am picturing a whole marathon full of people dressed like Vicki Lawrence from Mama’s Family.
It takes place in Duluth, Minnesota. I had the date wrong. It’s March, apparently. I was completely wrong. I can’t get this right to save my life. It’s June.
You had a 1 in 12 chance.
I did and I got it wrong twice. There’s a 5K there. There’s a festival happening. It’s called Rock, the Bayfront Festival that also happens. There’s a half marathon. This is why I’m confused because there are so many things happening in the middle of this. There’s also Grandma’s Marathon. All of these things are happening within one very long cool weekend. It sounds like a giant party, which is probably why people love it. If it has that party vibe, it’s probably like New York City where everybody comes out, and there are all the people. It’s a good racecation.
Becs Gentry has earned a party marathon.
She sure has. No joke. She also plans on doing her training or at least some of her training in Colorado.
Aditi Shah has mentioned that she was going to be doing some traveling for some upcoming Peloton projects. Do with that what you will, rumor mill.
My brain goes to scenic classes. I don’t know. She said more on that next week, so as soon as it drops, weβll let you know.
βββ
The latest artist series features none other than Tate McRae. I know nothing about country music but I’m pretty sure he’s a country artist.
I do think she is a country artist.
It sounds like a country artist’s name.
She has a bunch of classes coming up. Four new classes are coming up. There’s going to be an upper-body strength with Callie, a ride with Cody, a run with Olivia, and a row with Katie. Lots to look forward to if Tate McRae is your thing.
Major news from the world of Kristin McGee and from the world of Tonal, two great tastes that taste great together. You got Kristin McGee and my Tonal. Now you got Tonal and my Kristin McGee.
Tonal just released the Tonal 2. As part of that new venture, they have created a pop-up called the Tonal Training Lab. At the Tonal Training Lab, they have a bunch of classes taught by Tonal instructors, but also there are some guest appearances. One of those guest appearances is going to be Kristin McGee. She’s going to be there for three days, January 30th, February 1st, and February 2nd. She is going to be teaching a yoga sculpt class on the new machine. How cool is that?
That is super cool. We feel like we need to say that these classes will not be available on the platform. You can only take them at the Tonal Training Lab in New York City.
They are live classes only. That is important because you can’t access them in any way out of your home. You can only go to the Tonal Training Lab and see them. That’s also important because when you go to the Tonal Training Lab, even though they’re being taught by an instructor. We had our class when we were there that was taught by Ash, but Ash had a class pulled up that she did. She was not teaching a class in a studio. That’s not what was happening.
It’s not a Peloton class that’s recorded on screen or played later.
If you want to see Kristin, you have to sign up for these classes and go there. That’s the only way to do it. The link is TonalTrainingLab.com/schedule. That is how you can sign up. For non-members, they had a member’s week. For anybody going forward after members’ week, it costs $40. That’s it. That’s all you have to do. It’s right there in SoHo Little Italy.
I think it’s like Little Italy.
Itβs right on the border there.
At 188 Lafayette, who was French, but it’s in Little Italy.
We will get more into that. We have another Kristin update, so we’ll talk more about Tonal too. If you want a chance to see Kristin McGee and also try out a Tonal, this is a perfect opportunity for you.
While we’re talking about Kristin McGee, we should let people know that she’s also going to be teaching at the Canyon Ranch.
I believe that’s in Tucson, but it’s somewhere in Arizona. She’s going to be teaching live classes there, so it’s not anything online, so amazing opportunity on both sides of the coast.
It’s hard not to speculate about what this could mean for Kristin McGee long term.
It means she has a lot of opportunities coming her way and I am so happy for her.
While we were in New York, we did get to try the new Tonal 2. I did my first-ever live workout. I guess I lived through all of them thus far, but in public.
You did a workout in public with other people.
In front of people.
Yeah. A lot of people too for you because it was your first time. That’s a lot of people there. The Tonal 2 is cool. If you’re curious about it, the big change is it goes from 200 pounds to 250 pounds total. It also has a new mode on it called Arrow Mode. Instead of using a rope on one arm or the other, they have two T-locks on the rope. You move the arms in a little bit of a different configuration.
You push them close together and then you hook up both the T-locks and so when you pull on it, you’re getting the weight from both arms.
That particular mode works more like a rower does in that you pull it down and it smoothly pulls itself back in. It’s not resistance. It’s more like what a rowing machine would be. It has a different level of how they calculate your output on that part of it. It is intense. It will get your heart rate up when you’re doing that. That comes with three new moves. Other things that are different about it are they upgraded the ropes and the plungers. The entire machine has all the stronger hardware to be able to withstand the 250 pounds versus the 200. My favorite part about it though was how surprisingly smooth it was. I love our Tonal. It was smooth. I had zero complaints.
It’s so weird to be like, βThis one is so smooth,β because the old one is not not smooth. It’s like the difference between having a nice Honda and then upgrading to a Lexus or something.
Peloton helps many people feel the most athletic they have ever been. Share on XIt’s hard to explain but it’s also part of how it releases back into the machine. It goes in without that noise that Tonal makes. Only people who have a Tonal will have any idea what I’m talking about. Also, last week when we recorded, Tonal 1 was still available on their website. It is no more. You can only buy the Tonal 2. I forgot to mention that.
If you’re looking for a Tonal 2 and you’re like, βI can’t find it,β it’s because that’s just Tonal now.
Reach out to me because I have a link that you if you want to purchase. It will get you a little money off and a little a little kickback to us legally. Kickback sounds illegal. I don’t like that, but it’s an affiliate link. Thatβs what Iβm trying to say. Itβs so freaking cool though. I loved it and we had such a good time.
We did. It was as fun as a workout can be. It was more cardio than I’m used to. There’s a lot by the end. It was like 45 minutes.
You were also lifting so heavy. Every time I looked over at your weights, you were over 100 pounds on everything, I know you couldn’t have been on everything because we did some things like triceps. I know you were. When I looked over, you were and it was crazy. Also, it was cool to be able to verify that because you’ve maxed yours out with the mini-sumo squats. Being able to try out the mini-sumo squat on the new machine, does it compare to 100 pounds? It does, and to see what 125 pounds felt like was cool to be able to experience and like see the A/B test.
I also thought it was interesting being on the new version of Tonal and the mini-sumo squat move that I have maxed out at 100 pounds. When I logged in to do the mini-sumo squat, I thought, βIs it going to leave me at 100 or 105?β It was instantly like, βNo, itβs 125.β I was like, βThis machine has a lot of faith in me,β but I was able to do it.
I don’t want to say anything I will get in trouble for saying, but we had a nice conversation with one of the data scientists too. We’re hoping he will come on the show and tell you guys in his own words about the changes they’ve made to Tonal. I’m excited for Tonal this year. That’s all I’m going to say about that before I get myself in trouble.

It is time for the TCO Top Five where you tell us your favorite classes and then we tell them too, starting with your favorite ride.
This ride was nominated by Kristen Aziz. She nominated Tundeβs 30-minute Martin Luther King Junior Day ride from this past Monday, on the 20th. She said, βWhat’s not to love about a ride and reflection all in one.β She especially loved Tundeβs wonderful, message about unity. If you weren’t inspired to make the world a better place, when you started the ride, you sure will want to when you’re done, especially with the two very moving songs at the end.
Number two, your favorite 20-minute walk.
Natasha recommended this class. She said it’s a wonderful class of nostalgic hits from the turn of the century. This is a 20-minute 2000’s walk taught by Jon Hosking from January 21st. I know you thought I was going to forget completely to say it, but I saved it. I got it. All of these songs though were 25 years old, and I am not okay.
I never like to hear that. Number three, your favorite Power Zone ride.
This was an endurance ride taught by Olivia Amato. It was a 45-minute ride from October 20th. Catherine nominated this Power Zone class. She said that Olivia is an instructor she doesn’t usually take, but she decided to give it a try and she loved it. She said it was interesting to see how this class progressed and what zones they were in. She also thinks Olivia is very sweet and cute as a button. Tina, who was the writer of the article, added, βSweet, but Olivia shows no mercy when she’s pushing us into those Powers Zone.β
Number four, your favorite 30-minute walk.
This class was taught by Jess King on the 19th of January. Liz Nicole nominated this ride saying that Jess was super uplifting and she said all the right things, βI felt happier after. This walk was good for a low-impact or rest day.β As Tina said, I don’t think we’ve ever heard Jessβs name in the same sentence as the rest but we are going to try it.
Finally, some rides are so daunting that you dare not stack them. It is your unstackable.
By the way, when Christian Vande Velde heard that, he loved it and thought it was hilarious.
He was like, βUnstackable?β If you start hearing instructors use the phrase unstackable, you know where it came from.
This class was taught by Christian Vande Velde on November 17th. It was a 45-minute Power Zone Classic rock ride. Tom Gilday recommended the ride and Lori Setlinski said it was her favorite ride this week too. Tom said, βIt was a perfect mix of Zone 6 for one minute, followed by Zone 2 for four minutes, repeated six times. Itβs very hard but very achievable. Great music to boot.β
Now, we will take a look at this week at Peloton. We will start with Mariana’s 75-minute walk plus run endurance at its best.
Mariana has had 75-minute classes before. Somebody told me about this and I thought they had said it was a 75-minute run, which is not new. I think a 75-minute. W walk plus run might be new. Either way, endurance classes are awesome. Mariana is awesome. You’re going to want to take this class.
We now know a little bit more about what music people can expect, and how it’s going to break down, 75 minutes is a long time.
It is, but Mariana has your back. She’s going to break this down into what she calls three acts. There’s going to be classic rock, divas of pop, and EDM. Fantastic.
There you go. If it was a Dream Theater 75-minute walk run, they could just play two songs and that would be it. Back to this week at Peloton, we have all sorts of other things for people to check out.
There’s the new Find Your Max class. Denis is going to be testing and endurance with his newest ride, a 30-minute Powers Zone Max ride. That’s going to be dropping. There are also going to be new stretches that are going to be taking place. Ben is teaching at least one of them. The others are too small for me to see. There were also new Martin Luther King Junior Day classes. We talked about Tundeβs earlier, but there were also classes from Dr. Chelsea Jackson Roberts. Also, new core with Emma as well.
We’re introducing a new feature, the TCO RadarClasses that we think should be on your radar. We get them out there so you can keep an eye on it.
One of the things is the FTP warmup and ride that recently dropped from Hannah Frankson. Those dropped on January 15th. There’s also the Roadrunner scenic runs that appeared on demand on January 15th. Specifically, this is the New Balance Fifth Avenue Mile runs, so two of those, and then there’s also the new Dynamic Strength Program that Logan dropped. That’s on the Strength Plus app, only on Strength Plus, and then there’s also the Push Your Pace Program that launched on January 17th. This is all about improving your mile time and your fastest mile yet.
We also had Rebecca’s new hike which is dropping. It’s a strength split with a hike. That is going to be available on January 25th. Also, we talked about Tate McRae earlier, but there’s a new artist series that is also coming up on January 24th, and it’s a mini-series. It’s Sundance classes. With the film festival starting I believe on Monday, we think this is going to be songs from films that are at the Sundance Film Festival. This year, there’s also the new Iconos Latinos Two For One strength class in Spanish. That is going to be taught by Rad and Camila on Friday, January 24th. This is the first Two For One strength in Spanish. How cool is that?
Peloton is now offering Seven Days To Better Sleep.
This is a new program that dropped a few days ago, but it’s out there and it comes in three different languages. You have German, Spanish, and English. If you’re having trouble sleeping, this is the perfect time to get it together with these seven days of sleep meditation.
You can sleep in three different languages now.
βββ
Peloton Apparel has launched a new collaboration with Camila Ramon.
I know I keep calling it a collaboration. This is my fault, but it’s a capsule collection that they did in conjunction with Camila. It’s the first time Camila has had a capsule collection on the Peloton platform. All the instructors have been wearing it ahead of time, showing up, and showing how excited they are for her. I can’t remember the phrase that’s on the front of the shirt. It’s a long-line bra. It’s in Spanish and it was something happy and it was good something in Spanish. I think that’s cool. A lot of people are looking forward to this. I think this one is going to be the one that sells out. I think it’s going to sell out.
βββ
Finally, we have two birthdays this week coming up on January 25th. It is the birthday of Logan Aldridge.
Happy birthday to Logan.
On January 28th, former instructor Kendall Toole.
Happy birthday to her.
Coming after this, we have our interview of the week. We’re talking to Julie Brewer and she donated her kidney to her mother. She’s going to tell us all about that and how it impacted her fitness. Stick around.
βββ
Joining us is Julie Brewer. Julie, how’s it going?
Good. How are you?
Good. Itβs so good to have you here.
Thank you for having me.
Discovering Peloton During The Pandemic
Thank you. I always like to start these conversations by getting a little bit of background about how you originally found Peloton and decided it would be something good for you to try out.
Like most people, I found Peloton during the pandemic. It was my husband’s idea. His sister had talked about getting Peloton a few times and we’re like, βWhat’s that?β We’re not big on going to the gym. I find gym prices outrageous. We had two little kids. First, gyms are closed but I also don’t like spending time driving to the gym, going and coming back, because I have little kids. That’s a big chunk of our time.
We finally committed in May of 2020. Everyone was into it. It was getting huge. We’re like, βLet’s try it.β We ordered it. It’s funny when it came, my husband was the first one on it. He rode a few rides. He’s like, βAre you going to do it?β I’m like, βYeah, I’ll do it.β When I finally got on it, I was hooked. I’m more of a Peloton user than him and I’ve been to the Peloton studios. I’m crazy. I found it and it changed up my daily workouts.
I’m a nurse and I have two kids. I don’t have a lot of time so it’s nice to have the bike there and also the app. I was doing the app workouts daily. I became a five-day-a-week user. It got me back into a good workout routine. It was nice to be able to have that right there at my convenience. It was funny because I’d be on the bike and without fail, the last five minutes of the ride, my son would be on the toilet. He’s like, βMom, I need a wipe.β I’m like, βI don’t care. You’re going to sit on that toilet until I finish this ride. Youβre going to learn to wipe your butt.β
Looking Back And Getting Into Shape
He was finishing potty training. He was like, βMom, my butt’s getting numb.β Iβm like, βI’m not ending this now.β It became a big thing. I worked out more than ever. I decided I was going to use this as my time to get back into shape. I wanted my fitness level to amp it up. Prior to that, I was running a few times a week. I’d done a couple of half marathons. Running was my main thing but I wanted more and I loved it. I fell in love with it. That’s how I found Peloton.
This is the first time we’ve ever heard of Peloton helping with potty training.
He did learn to wipe his butt. He couldn’t handle the butt-numbing anymore. I’m like, βI’m not coming. Sorry.β
They typically do learn. I remember when we were potty training the boys when they were here. It’s the second marriage so she wasn’t around for it. The pediatrician we had was very much like, βDon’t try to potty train them. Let them figure it out. One day, they’ll figure it out. It’ll be fine.β It worked but my ex-wife was very upset about that as a notion. The doctor was finally like, βHave you ever met an adult who doesn’t know how to pee in the potty? They’ll figure it out. It’ll be fine.β
It’s easier with the second one because he wanted to do everything the first did. That was quick in Peloton.
You said getting back into shape. I’m curious. When you were younger, were you a person who was active at school, or were you into athletics or not at all?
No, I was not, surprisingly. I feel like I could have been. My parents should have put me in more sports. I’m 5’9 and athletic build. I catch on to things fast but I get it. My parents were young when they had us so they were busy. They were working all the time. They didn’t have time to drive us around the sports. I used to be bitter about that. Being a parent, I know life is busy. I was not super athletic.
They did have us in ballet for a little bit of piano. I did theater in high school so I was more into that. When I met my husband and we were dating, and I was in my twenties, he had run. He grew up super athletic. He was like, βDo you want to start training for a race with me?β I was like, βNo.β He’s like, βCome on, let’s do it.β I slowly started running more and more.
I remember the first half marathon we ran together, the last 3 miles. I was so angry with him and I was like, βI freaking hate you.β We got the words but I was so mean. It’s funny because after that, you get that runner’s high and you’re like, βI want to do this again.β That opened the world of athletics to me. We’d work out together and swim laps together at the gym but running was always my main thing until Peloton. I feel like I’m the most athletic I’ve ever been and I feel so good. I can train for a half and I lost a kidney. I’m like, βThis is great.β Had I not found Peloton before that, my recovery would have been a lot more difficult.
How Julie Donated A Kidney
I’m also curious about your kidney donation journey. That’s not typically something that you can plan for like, βNext year, I’ll donate a kidney.β That’s usually something that comes up. How did that happen to you?
Those people who do it altruistically to someone they don’t even know are amazing. I can’t say that I would have done that for anybody else. My mom and I were close. When it turned out that she would need a kidney, 100% I was like, βI’m going to do it.β She was born with one functioning kidney. When she was a baby, they realized that one of her kidneys was displaced. It was shriveled and not functioning right. Her other kidney was full-force functioning so she was good.
When she was 35, she had breast cancer for the first time. That takes a lot on your kidneys when you’re going through all those treatments, medications, and chemotherapy. That was a lot on her kidney. My mother is also a Filipino. She had a genetic disposition for hypertension too. That was also against her. She had breast cancer again in her 50s. She had gone through a lot but despite all that she’d been to, she was a pretty darn healthy woman.
She tried to eat healthy and worked out all the time but we knew her kidney function was going downhill. She hit stage four and stage kidney disease. It was to the point where her doctor was like, βYou need to start thinking about a transplant, or else in the next year, you’ll probably have to start dialysis.β She was adamant that my sister, me, or our husbands not donate. She was like, βYou have children. I don’t want to take your kidney.β I was like, βThat’s my choice.β
Who knows what’s going to happen twenty years from now? They’re starting to look at pig kidneys. There’s science out there. Without a doubt, I was like, βI’m going to do this.β My sister was going to try but she had open heart surgery when she was two years old so her doctor wouldn’t approve it. She had a coarctation of the aorta so they had to do surgery on her. She was out. I was, βI’m down.β
I emailed the living donor program and they immediately started setting things up for me through UCSD Medical Center because I live in San Diego. There was a variety of tests I had to go through like EKGs and CT of the abdomen to make sure my kidneys were there and there were no other issues. They were in-depth. It was a full head-to-toe assessment. It was nice to see how healthy I was. Every lab you could ever imagine. Also, STDs. I’m like, βI donβt have syphilis.β It was crazy. It was neat to see all that.
After we did all the tests, it was pretty fast-moving. They’re like, βWhen you want to donate, you’re a great candidate. You’re healthy.β This all started probably in November of 2023. I had my surgery on January 10th, 2024. I said, βLet’s get through the holidays because I don’t want to be in the hospital or not be able to do things with the kids because I love Christmas.β We set it up for January 10th.
I was nervous because I’ve never had a surgery in my life. I’ve been pretty healthy. I never broke a bone or anything. The only time I’ve ever been in the hospital was for my two live births. I was nervous but that’s what we’re doing. I have no doubts. I’m going to do it. The other thing that was awesome is that my husband was 100% on board too.
He also did the workup and was also a match. Having that support was amazing. We were both matches but I’m like, βIt’s going to be me.β My mom is my best friend. I’m actually blood related and it’s better chances of not having a rejection. That was super nice and wonderful that my husband was willing to do that. His mom flew out and helped with our kids and the family during the surgery. That’s how that all played out. It was quick.
I’m curious. If your husband was a good match for your mother, would he also be a good match for you? God forbid, if your kidney had issues twenty years from now, is it given that he could donate to you then?
No, not always. We’d have to go through the testing again. One thing that gave me great peace of mind is the living donor program. If you are a living donor, God forbid, and I ever need a transplant, I go to the top of the list. I get a kidney. I get the fast pass.
Itβs like going to Disney World.
I don’t have to pay for it.
She’s going to Kidney World.
Let’s hope your kidneys hang in there. It’s healthy and happy all through your lifespan.
I have my one-year appointments and coming up to meet with the team again to see how I’m doing. I got all my labs done and they are perfect. It’s scary when you’re at each appointment and you get your labs done to see how wonky they are. Even though you feel good, it is scary to see your kidney function and everything. I got them at work because I work at UCSD Medical Center. It’s pretty cool. I got on that and I was like, βIn one year, they’re great.β My creatinine is still a little high but it is trending down, which is great.
After you’ve donated, do you have to do a special diet or change things in any way? I have no idea.
You have to be pretty healthy. You can’t have too much protein. It’s rough for the kidney to break down. Itβs whatever the RDA recommends. You don’t want to get too much so you have to adjust your diet. Have low sodium. You avoid NSAIDs like ibuprofen. Pretty much stay active and healthy. Watch what you eat. Any time you’re on medications, let your doctor know because those could be rough on the kidney. A lot of people will be like, βI’m on these herbs or vitamins.β You have to watch out for certain ones because they can be hard on the kidney.
I used to be such an ibuprofen girl. My Excedrin Migraine headache stuff was my go-to so cutting that out was hard. Excedrin makes the tension headache, which helps pretty well. That has Tylenol and caffeine in it. That’s what I took when I was pregnant. Be careful. Avoid Motrin because that’s tough on the kidney. You have to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Luckily because I went into it already pretty healthy and eating pretty well, it wasn’t too much of an adjustment. Itβs not too bad.
How is your mother doing?
She is doing so great. She’s lost a lot of water weight because her kidneys are flushing everything out. Sometimes when you have poor kidney function, you don’t create as much urine anymore. She’s peeing like a champ. I’m like, βMy kidney, there you go.β The surgeon told me, βWhen I was transferring the kidney into your mom, your kidney was squirting pee at me.β
She looks so good. Her skin is glowing. She feels better than ever. All her labs are good. She’s a rock star. It’s crazy because my dad a couple of years ago had a bilateral lung transplant. My parents both have transplants. What is going on? She’s doing way better than him. We’re the same. We’re both determined, motivated people. Itβs been great.
The Peloton community is all about people following each other. Share on XWas she looking back on it like, βI’m glad you didn’t let me talk you out of that.β Did she ever say anything like that to you?
Every day, she’s like, βThank you so much. I’m grateful.β Sometimes my momβs love language is gift-giving. She’ll try to take me out and buy me something. I’m like, βMom, you didn’t buy my kidney. You don’t have to do this. You got me with a lifetime of babysitting.β
It’s funny I was thinking how good was Christmas in 2024 for your mom.
Pretty good. Iβm not going to lie. She’s very grateful. Iβm like, βLet’s enjoy your life.β I’m excited. She’s going on a girls’ trip with her friends in October 2025 to Italy so she’s super excited about that. She has so much more energy and she looks great. She’s gorgeous. She looks and feels healthy. She can keep up with the kids. Itβs a great story. I’m so happy and good.
How Is Julieβs Mom Doing Right Now
I know you said that doing all the workouts helped with your recovery. I was curious if your mom is an active person as well. With that generation, it can be a little touch and go. You never know. My family is super not exercisers. I’m always curious about that.
She is pretty active. She used to run a lot when she was younger. They live in San Diego, living the downtown life in the condos. They would go out. She belongs to a gym out there and she’s at the gym every day. There’s a big convention center in this area called Seaport Village. They have these stairs that people love running up and down. It’s a great workout. She’s out there every day doing those stairs. She likes working out and she’s fit. She goes through all that. My dad, not so much. He barely walks two steps. She’s doing all her things.
Getting Back To Peloton After Kidney Donation
How long was it before you could get back to using Peloton?
I was on the Peloton Tread on post-op day four. I had a restriction.
A walk, I hope.
Yes. I had to be mindful about not using my core, avoiding core exercises, and running. I was at risk for an abdominal hernia because the abdominal wall was weak after the transplant. It’s because they did the incision in my belly button and then laparoscopic. They reached in and took it out. I was on six weeks off of work. They said, βYou can walk and move as much as you can. Get up and do your movement. Just avoid the running and core exercises.β That was so hard. I love to run.
I slapped on my abdominal binder post-op day four. It’s funny because they told me, βThe first day when you work out if you do something, you might be a little sore so you should take an oxycodone.β I’ve never taken any of this stuff in my life. I was like, βWhat if it’s painful?β I took one on the treadmill walking and I feel like I’m flying. All of a sudden, I’m like, βI’m going to throw up.β After that, I’m like, βNo more.β I was fine with Tylenol, and the rest of that.
I did walk every single day. That was my routine. You do get tired. I had more energy in the morning. I’d get up and do a few miles. I would do up to 6 miles a day. I love my Peloton treadmill. It was so nice. There were times when I started doing Rebecca Kennedy’s hikes and I’m like, βI got to slow down.β It’s so tempting to pick up the pace.
Maybe not 15% incline at 5% speed.
I am super competitive with myself and I’d have to remember to back off. βIt’s okay. Take it easy.β That saved me from having that Peloton Tread and doing all those classes. They were so motivating. At five weeks, they gave me the go signal to go ahead and start jogging. I had so much pent-up energy. I feel like I ran my fastest running time. I then got to do core again. Emma has the core program. I love that. I felt good. I still look back at my workouts on Peloton six weeks after and I was like, βIβm better than I was.β I was ready to take off. Peloton prepared me.
Was it nerve-wracking to do that first full-tilt boogie?
It was nerve-wracking because the incision was still pretty fresh. It was weird because it was numb but I could still feel like pulling. I was like, βDid I tear something?β I was nervous and a little more careful. As the days went on, I went a little faster and it got easier.
For the audience, always listen to your doctor because not everybody has the same clearance at the same time.
I would see that in some of the groups. I joined this group called Kidney Donor Athletes. Someone on one of the Peloton groups has mentioned it. I followed that. There were a lot of different responses and people were like, βWhen did you start working out? When can I do this?β Honestly, every hospital and every doctor is going to tell you something different so don’t ask what people are doing. Do what you’re provider tells you. I tried to do it as best as I could and stick with it.
Depending on what kind of surgery and stuff you have, some doctors are like, βDon’t let your blood pressure get over X.β With your heart rate, they don’t want it to get over X rate. That’s hard, especially after you’ve been sedentary and gone through this process. The heart rate will shoot right up the second you start moving. That’s always tough.
That’s 100% true.
Julieβs Leaderboard Name And Preferred Instructor
What is your leaderboard name?
Itβs boring. JulieLynn17. I always try to think of fun stuff so Julie is my name and Lynn is my middle name. 17 has been my favorite number since I was 10. I don’t know why. Every time I was in school, they would assign us numbers and for some reason, wherever I went, I was 17. It’s not my age or anything for you weirdos out there. Iβm always like, βI need something fun and exciting,β but itβs so dull. It’s been JulieLynn17 for years.
It’s so weird that your number was 17 because normally it corresponds to the alphabet.
That’s not her maiden name. Maybe you were more in the middle of your class.
I was always 12.
I have no idea what I was. My maiden name was Wishon so I was always at the end.
You were 36.
I would completely black out until I heard a U or something and then I was like, βI should pay attention now.β
Do you have a preferred instructor?
I love Emma Lovewell. She will always be my number one. I liked her since day one. I enjoyed her rides. She’s super mellow, laid back, and a likable person. I loved her book. I feel like I relate to her and her life so well. We have so many similarities. I enjoy her classes. With that being said, every time I meet a new professor, I fangirl over them hard. I fall in love with them. I love Matty Maggiacomo for the walk runs. I adore him. He gets me going. If I don’t want to work out, he makes me so happy. I’m like, βI would divorce my husband and marry you in a heartbeat.β
That’s probably off the table.
I’m like, βWe could have a happy life.β He would make me so happy. I enjoy his walk runs. I also love Mariana. I have a fun story about her. She is from my hometown where I live, Bonita. I met her when I went to New York in 2023. We went to the New York studios. She was in my Tunde class. It was a Latina month ride. She was walking through so we got to chatting. Someone had told me she was from Chula Vista, which is close to Bonita.
I started talking to her. I’m like, βYou’re from Chula Vista.β She was like, βI’m from Bonita.β I was like, βNo way. I live in Bonita.β I’ve seen her running at my golf course. I feel like I’m her stalker. Please, don’t be scared of me. I’m just a Bonita mom and Peloton freak. I’ve seen her running. Her brother is a cardiologist at the hospital I used to work at. We live parallel lives. We need to be friends. We go to the same spots.
This was fun. She told me where they lived and I was like, βThat’s close to me.β The day after Thanksgiving, Friday, I went to a yoga class. I go to this yoga studio down the way. It’s been there for twenty-something years. It’s a one-studio place and super cute. I was texting with my friends who are also Peloton freaks and they were like, βMaybe Mariana will be there.β I’m like, βNo, she probably went back to New York already.β
I put my phone away and started doing my yoga. I turned around for one of the poses and she legit is right behind me. I saw all her bracelets and I’m like, βI know that hand.β I was so nervous. I was like, βMariana is practicing yoga with me and we are friends.β I was quiet the whole time and she’s so lowkey.
I don’t think anybody in there knew who she was, except for me and the instructor. She’s been going there forever. She grew up there.
The instructor that I like to go to is one of her good friends. She always pops into his class. I was like, βShe’s still here.β After the class, I was like, βIt’s me. I don’t want to bother you but I met you in New York a year ago.β We were chatting. She’s so sweet. We took a picture together. She was so nice. I was like, βI had a personal class with Mariana. That’s pretty awesome.β
Before she left for New Year 2025, she did a run around this area. She invited the Mariana’s Mariachi. She’s like, βAre you going to go?β I was going to but I had to do my 10-mile run that day. I’m like, βI’ll back off a little bit. It’s been enough. I’m happy with my one-on-one class with her.β That was fun. Having that connection is super cool. She’s a very cool chick, lady, and woman.
All of the above. She’s one of my favorite people. She’s nice.
Sheβs such a great athlete and super nice. I love Leanne Hainsby. She’s the most gorgeous, fun, and beautiful person. When I saw her in London, we had a class with her and Ben. She was so cute. My girlfriends and I put these sparkles on her face and she came in. She’s like, βThere are so many sparkles everywhere. I feel so under trust.β She was so sweet. She and Ben seem very genuine. They do make good eye contact and they’ll talk to you as long as they can. It was super sweet. I adore them. They’re the greatest couple.
Closing Words And Contact Details
Julie, thank you so much for taking time out of your day and telling us your story. That was fascinating. Before we let you go, let everybody know where they can find you and all the places if you would like to be found.
I’m on Facebook, @JulieBrewer. On Instagram, if you want to find me, itβs @JulieLynnBrewer. That’s it. I’ve got nothing else. JulieLynn17 is my leaderboard if you want to ride with me. I wanted to say I had such a great outpouring of support from the Peloton community when I was healing from my kidney donation. I don’t know if you saw but Peloton sent me flowers after my recovery. I thought that was so awesome.
I met a lot of cool people. I follow them and they follow me on the leaderboard. It’s cool. I love the community. Thank you for a year later letting me do your show. When you reached out to me, it was a little bit after and I was still in the haze. I was like, βMy year is coming up. I’m running a half marathon. I’m excited. New Year 2025. I would love to do this.β Thank you so much.
Thank you. Good luck with your half marathon. I hope it goes well.
Thank you. I hope so, too.
Continued wonderful health to you, your mom, and your whole family.
Thank you so much. I appreciate it. Happy New Year.
