Peloton & Amazon Extend Partnership To UK Plus Our Interview With Carolyn Holdsworth
I guess we should say we have to record early because we need to go to Jeff City, which is about two hours from where we live, for your grandfather’s funeral.
Yes, we do. He was 90 and I am so happy that he had such a very long life. I appreciate all the well wishes. I know I’m just being greedy. I want more. He always made me feel special. It’s my grandpa.
That’s what they do.
We’re glad we got to see him a couple of weeks ago. I’m glad that we took the day off and drove down there on that Friday. It’s going to be tough saying goodbye, but life goes on.
Also, I thought it was very nice that, out of the blue, Peloton sent you flowers.
It’s very nice. It was a huge bouquet like these three pieces. It was a whole thing to put together, but it was very pretty and very much appreciated that they saw that. It’s not like I posted that in the OPP or something. It was very thoughtful and kind of them to send.
Thank you very much for the nice card. That was very kind of them. On a lighter note, we should say that you are the proud owner of a rower. I say you because I’m not.
It’s another piece of equipment that you will never try. I was a little anxious because Monday, the end of my window was night and I had not heard from them. They said that they’ll call a half hour before.
You were all in a panic.
I wouldn’t say panic. I was just anxious
In a panicky way.
I had to go to an appointment. The point being is it showed up twenty minutes before the window closed. The drivers were super nice and super knowledgeable. It’s interesting because this particular piece of equipment comes in three boxes. You got a box where the base is that holds the monitor up, and then you got a piece that is a long piece for the long bar and the slider, the seat that you slide back and forth on.
Does it have a fancy name or is it actually called the slider?
Ask some of these fancy rowing people because I will probably say it wrong even if I said it. I would be like, “It’s a bow,” and I’d be saying it all wrong, whatever it was. The third piece was the monitor. All they had to do was connect the piece with the seat on it to the part that holds up the monitor, then put the monitor on. The monitor took the longest. They were done very quickly, and then I was like, “Hold on. I need to make sure it works before you leave. Sorry.”
I made them wait while I downloaded three sets of updates and I felt bad. I told them, “If you guys leave, it’s too late. I’m not going to get it fixed. We’re making sure this works before you leave.” They also were very kind and moved all the boxes outside without me asking. I know they’re always supposed to do that, but they don’t always do that. It was great. I immediately had to take a ten-minute class, which I did and I loved it. It’s been perfect. It’s been absolutely a joy.
You said that on your Apple Watch, the classes were coming up as other.
They don’t say Row. I don’t know if that will change at some point. For now, it says other, which is a little sad for me because I like seeing all my different little things. It’s no big deal. I realize in the whole grand scheme of things that it’s not that big of a deal. The more important thing is the Apple Watch is instantly connected. That was nice because there’s been a long time since we didn’t have the Apple Watch connecting to all of the Peloton equipment. Hopefully, that’ll get changed in the future when it says it’s a Row class. For those of you who have asked, I have no idea. Is it called a rowing class? Is it called a row class? I don’t know. I’m going to row. That’s what I’m going to call it.
It comes down to what people collectively start to call it. That will be what it gets called.
It’s going to be Row for me. We’ll see if that catches on or stays if other people agree. I also want to talk about the fact that lots of people ask, “What are the dimensions of our room?” I have no idea. I don’t know. This has been a rough week, so I was not taking the time to measure that. I will tell you this though. I do know that where the rower is from the back wall to where the end of the rower is, that comes out to 9 feet.
The rower itself is only 8 feet, but we had allotted 9 feet because we didn’t want it to be all the way up against the wall. The rower itself is 7 feet, 10 inches or 7 feet, 11 inches. My ceiling is not quite 8 feet. It’s just under. I didn’t even bother having them to put in or ask them how. They didn’t know how to install it. I would have done it anyway.
I thought it said that they wouldn’t do it for you anyway.
I would have to do it. I don’t feel the need for where it is. It’s not necessary for us.
With the location we chose, we’re never going to have to fold it up, so why even worry about it?
I thought it was funny because the delivery driver was like, “What are you talking about?” I was like, “This thing is a wall mount.” They were like, “What?” I showed the guy and he was like, “That’s amazing.” He had no idea what I was talking about. They don’t put those in for you. They do remove the trash if you make them stay long enough to make sure it’s working. They had already delivered six rowers that day. They had four more to go. All of them were in this neighborhood close by. That’s what they told me.
What else people have asked? You can high-five. It’s not that hard. I thought it was going to be harder than it is. You hold on with one hand and pop up and hit the high-five button. It’s fine. When I tested this out in the store, I didn’t understand the calibration aspect that they made me go through. From what I can tell, you calibrate per profile on your actual rowing, like your profile for Peloton on the rower.
Each person that’s in your home doing it can have a different calibration. They do that because their sensors are in the seat and in the handle. That’s according to what I read. It can tell where you are on the rower when you do what they call the catch position and the finish position. That’s what they’re calibrating it to because everybody is a little bit different. Some people have a longer torso. Some people have a shorter torso, etc.
It can be calibrated to everybody individually. I thought that the calibration process at home went more smoothly because I feel like, at the store, it was a little rushed. We had to squeeze in between people there. It was not the store’s fault. I want to be very clear about that. They were trying to accommodate a lot of people.
At home, I felt like I got a much higher form score because it recognized where I was on the machine better since it took more time to do the calibration. The very first time I went through it, I got a 79%, which is pretty high out of 100. Being a person who’s never ridden, I thought that was pretty amazing. I just used the rower here.
When one of the kids brings home a 79%, you don’t say, “That’s pretty high out of 100.”
Given that when I did it in the store, it was 48%. It was low. When I tried a class, I did a 15-minute class with Katie, and I did that with her before I did my run as a warm-up. I got 88% on my form. I was excited because it improved so much. I think it improved so much so quickly because I did the drills classes, and understood those drills. For people who are like, “How do I set this up?” It’s super easy to do. They walk you through it whenever you do the calibration. There’s a place where you can go in and set your paces based on how experienced with rowing you are.
I think there are seven different estimates of where you can be for your paces. Since I had actually used a rower before, it suggested that I start with a 2 or 3 to be able to start off my paces. I started with a 2 and I felt it was too slow. Now, I moved up to a 3 and that felt more comfortable for me. I also like the form feedback. I’m quickly learning from it. I can tell that it is pushing off with your legs while your back is still straight. Whereas my natural inclination is to lean back as I go back. It wants you to stay upright as you go back. It’s neat to see that I’m quickly getting better at that because I’ve only done three classes so far.
I’ve also taken a class with Matt, Katie and Alex. I look forward to taking classes with the other instructors. All of the classes are exactly what you would expect from Peloton. They are awesome and fun. I definitely like the intervals on the rower. They are legit fun because it’s not super impactful whenever I run. It doesn’t wear me out as a sprint does on the tread whenever I’m running.
I could go all out on the rower. I’m definitely getting a workout. I’m getting my heart rate up, but it’s not completely exhausting like I feel dead after doing sprints whenever I run on the treadmill. This is not like that. I look forward to doing more. Overall, the delivery itself was completely flawless. Yay, Peloton. For all of you out there who have had bad experiences with XPO, I do empathize with you.
I have had six machines that have been delivered via XPO or RXO is what they’re calling it now. I have had zero issues. I’ve been so lucky. I hope that streak continues, and I hope that everybody out there has a good experience as well. I have seen so many people. A huge new batch got scheduled. Lots of people are up on the list including #TheFred. Fred and Leslie will be getting theirs, so that is pretty fun. Lots of people are getting their rowers.
If you already got a rower, take some classes now while you can still see yourself high on the leaderboard.
That’s funny you say that because 135 people had taken the class that I took and I was number 12. I never get to be high on the leaderboard. I’m enjoying my moment. It will be over soon.
I know this is a long open for the show, but just a little interesting thing we saw. We were in Atlanta. My son was auditioning for theater programs at various colleges. You could go there and hit 60 schools at once. I think he got callbacks from 58 of them or something.
A lot. He did well.
We were very excited. In our hotel, they teased you by letting you know that there would be a Peloton there.
I thought it says by the end of 2022. I was like, “It is the end of 2022.”
Not yet.
I know.
I think I saw them actually delivered to them as we were driving away to leave. It was like, “There it is. Here comes like five RXO vans.” If you’re watching on YouTube, you can see the sign that they had up at the Hilton saying that they would be getting Peloton bikes soon.
For those of you asking, this is not in place of the other partnerships they have with other places. This is in addition to.
Now that we’ve already done half the show, what pray tell do you have in store for people?
We have some fun UK news, some fun Germany news, and new stuff added to the bike that people have been super excited about. Thanksgiving classes, holiday sales, and a whole bunch of things that are happening with instructors. We have a visit from MetPro, Angelo. He talks about tips for food. If you’re going to be working out after dinner, what should you do? We also had a visit from Dr. Jenn. She talked about getting past an all-or-nothing mentality, and lots of other fun Peloton-related stuff.

Peloton and Amazon have extended their partnership to the UK.
It is officially starting on Wednesday, November 16th. My understanding is Germany is soon to come in the coming weeks. I’m not exactly sure about that date yet, so stay tuned.
I have a dumb question. Is Amazon as big internationally as it is here?
I think so.
I didn’t know.
I don’t know that in every country, of course.
I was just curious. Is Amazon in the UK as big of a deal and is all-encompassing as it is in the United States?
I also think that this is good for a couple of reasons. One, don’t forget that Amazon’s partnership with Peloton means they buy all of the product upfront. Two, this is good because there are a lot of people that wouldn’t be able to get the Peloton any other way other than Amazon. They can’t just go to the store and get it. They may not have a store necessarily close by. I think having the ease of which Peloton delivers to your house.
There’s a comfort level with Amazon. There had been times, I mean not buying Peloton, but there’s a product that I could have bought on a different website but I’ll be like, “This is probably on Amazon and it’s a lot easier over there.” I go over there and I’m done. Especially if it’s maybe a retailer I don’t already have an account with.
Let’s not forget the fact that they said they would expand this if it had been successful. I know they told us on the recent earnings call that it was more successful than they had anticipated. This is that bearing out. They would not be doing this if it were not. It’s very quick. That’s exciting.
Also just in time for the holidays. Do they have Christmas over there?
They do have Christmas. I think they do not have Thanksgiving, but they do have Christmas, last I checked.
I didn’t know if they were different. I know that they probably don’t celebrate Thanksgiving or July 4th. They have July 4th. It’s just not celebrated.
It’s a little different over there.
It’s a regular day in July. If I was the UK, I would probably skip the 4th. I would go from 3 to 5 like, “No 4th over here.” This is great news that they’re expanding this program. If you had any doubts that it was working in the States, you can now shut your pie. The Power Zone indicator has been added to the screen.
This is a big deal for Power Zone people. A lot of times, these classes are like you do 5 minutes here, 7 minutes there. You can tune out pretty easily. If you happen to tune out when they tell you to change to another zone, you wasted 7 minutes of your life in the wrong zone. This will be helpful because it will tell people, “This is where you should be.” For Power Zone folks, this is a huge deal that they’ve been asking for forever. As soon as they got the zones on the screen, they immediately were like, “We want more,” and then it’s been four years. Bless you, Peloton engineers that made this happen. Thank you. We can stop hearing about it.
Peloton has announced their holiday sales.
They have so you got to act fast. They end on November 28th, which is the Monday after Thanksgiving. It’s $300 off accessories with the purchase of the Bike, Bike+ or Tread. You also can get $200 off accessories with the purchase of the Peloton Guide. That is definitely a good deal.
It’s also interesting that it’s pretty short. It’s through Cyber Monday and then they’re done.
I’m curious if Amazon will throw in a sale. I know they do their Black Friday thing, but there’s nothing’s that I can find on there yet for the Bike and Bike+. Maybe I’m not looking in the right place.
In my ads popping up, I was looking at the upcoming Black Friday deals and Amazon had a NordicTrack bike that was $1,300 marked down to $600.
I have noticed that a lot of equipment is on sale. Hydrow is having massive sales.
Hydrow announced a sale the second the rower started taking orders. They’re like, “Please still buy Hydrow.”
If you want to have every row as a scenic row, then Hydrow is your jam.
It does sound like people that are super into rowing are like, “Peloton feel isn’t the same.” I could almost see a peaceful co-existence in the same way that people still have Swift.
That could definitely be a thing.
I also think it’s interesting to go back to the sale that they’re imaging as their best offer of the season. It’s basically like, “Don’t wait.”
It says the season, not the year. That’s also interesting.
It’s the holiday season. That would be quite a game to play to come back in a week and be like, “It’s a new season. It went from Thanksgiving to Christmas.”
I was thinking that doesn’t mean it’s the lowest it’ll be ever, and after January it might be like you know how sometimes companies will put stuff on sale because so many people buy stuff in January for workouts. I have no idea. I’m not saying that’s going to happen. I thought it was interesting wording. Usually, it says companies, not Peloton. Usually, companies will say, “Our best offer of the year.”
Even if they said, “Of the year,” in January, they could still do the same thing because it would be a new year.
That is true. I want a fiscal year. I’m just saying.
If they said fiscal year, people will get mad. They’re like, “I don’t know what your fiscal year is. You weirdos. Give that to Clip Out Crystal. She waited for a sale in her life.”
That’s not true. I’ve waited.
For Peloton equipment?
No. Why wait? You’re only going to get $300 off accessories. I don’t even want the accessories. What good is that going to do me?
Thank you for proving my point. While we’re talking about the season.
Back to this season, which is Thanksgiving, not yet Christmas. The full class list for Thanksgiving day has been announced. There’s going to be Alex’s Turkey Burn Run. It’s the first time ever with Alex. This is his debut on the Tread. There’s a 10-minute full-body stretch with Erik. There is the Turkey Burn Ride with Robin. There is a full-body stretch with Ben. We then move to Thursday on-demand classes, and then there’s going to be a Fit Family premiere with Jess Sims and a special surprise guest. I don’t know who that’s going to be. I’m also very excited about 11:00 AM Eastern, there is a Turkey Burn Row premiere with Matt Wilpers dropping on-demand. It is not a live class. I do not want people to mishear that.
It says on-demand very clearly.
It does but that doesn’t mean people are always paying attention.
Sometimes somebody will say, “Of the season,” and then someone will think it means, “For the fiscal year.” That occurs.
Things can be misconstrued. Anyway, I’m very excited that there will be a Turkey Burn Row with Matt. I guess that explains why Matt is not doing the Turkey Burn Run because he’s rowing.
If it’s on-demand, he could have taped it two months ago.
They like to spread these things out. Alex is doing the run.
That makes sense. Peloton celebrated Veterans Day.
They put out a few classes that happened live on that day. They also had several classes that were released on-demand. I wanted to make sure that everybody heard and saw that because there were some people that were upset.
It’s a Veterans Day tradition to say that Peloton didn’t do enough for Veterans Day.
Because of riding the bike for a couple of years, my knees got a lot better. Share on XI feel like there are people that miss this, so I wanted to make sure they heard it. They also have an option for you to send a message of support to a service member via the link in their Instagram stories that you could do. I don’t know if the link is still there.
You sounded like you wanted to take the lead on this one.
I did because I saw what you had written there and it’s not exact. They are telling us that they added a new definition to the class list. Before it used to be Encore Live and now there’s going to be Encore Live Premiere. It’s the same thing as a live class appearing for the first time, but it’s the debut of the class on the platform.
They could do that with an on-demand class, “This is when it launches.” You see that on YouTube where somebody will be like, “This video is premiering.”
That is what this is because Cody LOL dropped on-demand. They’re saying, “This is premier. It’s the first time you’ve seen this.” I think some people get a little confused about on-demand classes when those drop. In the past old-school Peloton, those were always an encore. If it was on demand, that was after it had already aired live. They don’t do those all the time anymore. This is to distinguish from that.
That makes sense. I guess Our Future Selves could have classified itself under something like that if it had wanted to. It also is indicative that you’re going to be seeing a lot more of that kind of programming as Peloton continues to move towards more of a television network model for at least some of its class structure, which I have been predicting for years.
You have, and you were correct.
Sundays With Love would fit this.
Sundays With Love have always been live.
They don’t have to stay that way.
Traditionally they have been, but you are correct. They don’t have to stay that way. I remember hearing about the Cody LOL thing and then there was another class that’s coming out. There’s another type of class that’s going to be like this too. I can’t remember who it was for. There’s another one of these classes. It feels like the most popular instructors get these. I don’t know if that’s in my head. I don’t know if that’s because those instructors have asked, and it happens to be go-getters. I don’t know.
I could see that going either way. It makes sense that you would want to push out your more popular instructors to generate more rides. It also makes sense that maybe more popular instructors are more popular because they’re doing things like this. It’s a little bit of a chicken or an egg.
Particularly with Cody, he was on Dancing With the Stars as you know. If you want to keep somebody like Cody around, you need to give him new opportunities. He clearly wants to go and do other things too because he’s human. To keep him happy, this kind of thing needs to exist. I’m not saying that’s why they did it. I’m not saying Cody demanded it. Please do not misunderstand. At the same time, I could see that thought process was included in making it happen.

Joining us once again is Dr. Jenn Mann, licensed marriage, family and child therapist, and Sports Psychology consultant. She also has an app called No More Diets that you might want to check out. It’s Dr. Jenn.
Hello.
Beth is looking for some advice. She wants to know how she can fit in everything she wants to do without feeling guilty about not doing something, but then ending up not doing anything at all. I’ve been there, Beth. I’ve done this.
It’s an all-or-nothing mentality. You come to terms with that, but then you can’t do everything. It’s not possible. It’s very easy to get overwhelmed because there’s so much great content at Peloton and it’s constantly coming out. There are constantly new challenges, new rides, and new music festivals. Now there are the interviews. There’s so much, and you have to go into it with a different mentality of there’s so much wonderfulness. I trust that I will end up in the class that I’m supposed to be in. I will hear the messages that are right for me at this moment in time.
It may sound hokey, but taking a spiritual approach to your workout and the match of that moment and that day is important. I also think that we tend to get this way when we’re a little more on the OCD side of like, “I have to check the boxes. I have to complete all of that. I did that series so I have to do all 21 of them even though I’ve done 18, and I don’t feel like doing it anymore.” We have to be careful and we have to remember that we’re exercising to live a long time, get health benefits, to feel good, and sometimes to look good. When we torture ourselves by having that mentality of like, “I have to complete it. I have to try everything,” we can make ourselves crazy. We want workouts to help make us less crazy.
It’s so true. We were doing our long run together on Saturday and you picked that class, which I never would’ve picked at all. I love Matty so that’s not a choice. That’s because it’s an old class. That’s why I never would’ve picked it. It’s too far in the past. I can’t go back that far. There are new things happening that I got to do. He said some key things in that class about being part of the community that we’re part of that refilled my bucket as far as the Peloton world. It was especially timely given everything that’s been going on, and some of the drama associated with Peloton. It is interesting that you trust that the class is where you should be.
Once I start the class, I keep one ear perked. What am I supposed to hear from this? Spiritually, what is the message? What is the vibe? What am I supposed to get from this? Inevitably, I get something.
When I use the Tonal, I wear headphones and listen to podcasts.
Maybe you should listen to this podcast and then you’ll get it, and that will be your thing.
I’ve already listened.
From a whole different perspective.
It’s more like, “What spiritual message am I supposed to take from revisionist history?”
There you go.
Thank you so much for joining us. Until next time, where can people find you?
On all social media @DrJennMann, and also my weekly column in InStyle magazine called Hump Day With Dr. Jenn that comes out every Wednesday.
Wonderful. Thank you.

This will be old news by the time you hear it because it was made official shortly after we recorded I think. Hannah Frankson is officially joining the UK Tread team.
We had talked about this and they had been saying, “Somebody’s joining the UK Tread team. Who’s it going to be?” I said, “Hannah Frankson,” and I was right. I love being right. It’s very exciting. People are very stoked about this, so I can’t wait to take classes with her. I’ve been very pleased with the UK Tread team and I can’t wait to check out Hannah.
For those of you missing Anna Greenberg, she has announced when she will be returning to Peloton.
I don’t know if anybody’s watching the YouTube channel, but I couldn’t help but grin when I saw this picture. It’s her baby and it’s so cute. She will be returning to Peloton on December 19th, but we will not see her live on the mat until January. Just so you know, live on the mat in January. We are excited to have Anna back.
Speaking of Anna, she was recently on an As Of Yet Unnamed Podcast discussing her pregnancy.
Somebody asked if she could share her birth story specifically, not just her pregnancy. She said that she was going to be sharing it. She did share it on a podcast. She will let us know. Full disclosure, it was a difficult experience. I’m sure that was tough to talk about.
Especially when it’s so fresh.
Jess King was on Today: All Day.
Have you ever heard of this?
Yes. It’s the Today Show segments that don’t air on the network and live only on streaming over on Peacock.
Got it. Jess King was there and she was talking about building a family with Jill Martin. It was all about how her family is going to be built.
I find it fascinating though that it wouldn’t have been that long ago that if you recorded something for the Today Show and it only lived as a video segment on their website, it would feel lesser than. It’s feeling less and less like that every day.
Yeah. The whole world. We were talking about that the other day. Regular TV annoys us. We stream almost everything at this point. It’s just Dr. Phil.
We even stopped watching that. Alex Toussaint has partnered with Movado.
I believe it is some clothing line.
I think it’s a watch.
That makes sense. They all are wearing watches.
They’re all standing in weird ways to make sure you can see their watches. Once you know, it’s a watch, you can see that it’s a watch ad, but if you don’t know it’s a watch, it is like, “What is this for?”
I watched the little video and they were all dancing around in clothes.
I guess because they’re self-winding.
They were very nicely dressed and everything so I assumed it was a clothing thing. It reminded me very much of Robin’s GSTQ partnership. That’s why I thought that. I’ve never seen Alex dress in that way. Not that it’s specifically different. It’s just that it looks different from how he dresses, so I assumed it was clothes.
I was like, “What the hell is that?”
I’m glad you stopped me before I was talking about it.
I like to be right about things and sound like I know stuff occasionally.
You know all kinds of things.
Not much for here. Normally when I’m expressing something I know on here, I’m getting that “Speed it up” look from you. That’s enough about the monkey that used to host the Today Show.
You go deep into the rabbit holes where there are all kinds of things happening. I know I made you go want to make a joke. I’ll leave it at that. It’s a watch.
Alex is selling watches.
Congrats, Alex.
Ebony Magazine has a list of five new reads to savor over the Thanksgiving holiday, and Tunde made the list right up there with Michelle Obama.
That’s pretty cool to be on a list. Your book’s on the list with Michelle Obama’s book. Not too shabby at all. Congrats to Tunde.
The website MyBFF.com has an article about Robin Arzón and her foray into Web3. Also, trying to explain it.
I also want to be clear that this is the same company that hosted the talk on Twitter spaces. This is the same company she’s having that conversation with. They took that and repurposed it. I wanted to make sure that people saw this article because I was so terrible at explaining what Web3 was. You can take a stab at this article and see if you can come up with a better explanation.
You might remember a few months ago probably at this point, Leanne Hainsby took some time off because she lost a very close friend, Danielle Hampson and there’s a big event going on for her.
This was a very cool way to celebrate her life. They are going to have an event where they’re going to be sharing memories and moments to celebrate life. It’s also going to be a fundraising ticketed event for professional dancers. What a good way to take something sad and tragic, and make something good out of it.
Speaking of Leanne, she and Ben are celebrating four years with Peloton.
I can’t believe it’s been four years.
It doesn’t feel like that because there were two years when we weren’t allowed to leave the house.
I know but it’s crazy four years. We met them in that picture right there. We met them that weekend.
I thought that picture looked familiar. I think we have a picture with them taken three seconds after this.
They were wearing something different because it was the day of the run, but it was that weekend. That’s so crazy, four years.
That’s why I was always like, “When there’s a new instructor, get your picture taken with them because they’re going to be a big deal and you won’t be able to get near them.” Nobody was talking to them. They were just standing there and people were like, “I don’t know who you are.” We stood there and talked to them for half an hour.
Ben was probably the less shy of the two. He was very outspoken and went live with us and everything. Can you believe they’ve gotten engaged? They’ve moved in together and bought a house. They have lived their entire little years with Peloton. What a weird thing to be that public and have so much of your life out there like that. It’s clearly good. I’m happy for them, but such a strange thought.
Cliff from Germany went and caught Kendrick Lamar.
He was there with Jermaine Johnson. They went together and they were clearly having a great time.
We’ve been following Tobias and his journey on the Manaslu Trail.
They actually get an active recovery day and then a pass-crossing day. There are two days in a row that they don’t.
I think that’s horse sh*t.
I think after you’ve climbed that ginormous mountain, you get to go and have a rest.
He should get a full recovery day. It shouldn’t be an active recovery day.
I thought you were saying it was sh**ty they were taking a rest.
I’m like, “Active recovery? How much is recovery?”
They’re going to walk to the Tibetan border.
Do you think they’re afraid that their bodies will just lock up if they completely let it shut down?
It’s an event so there needs to be movement on all those days because you got to keep things going. Otherwise, if you didn’t keep schedules, there would be some people that would be done right away. There would be other people like me that would never finish. I’d be like, “Just carry me down the mountain.” They get to do cool stuff while they’re there. They get to walk to the border of Tibet and go to a village. They will be going over the pass crossing and then they will continue on. They get up at 4:00 AM on that third day.
I love this, “Our mules might not cross the pass so all of our remaining bags are carried to our staff in any local yaks we can hire.” What? This is quite a journey. I can’t wait to hear him talk about this when he’s home. This is going to be amazing. I need an English version of this. Don’t do everything in German. I need to hear the details. This is amazing.
The funny thing is the people who carry the bags are the people that didn’t finish last year.
They’re staying there forever.
They’re like, “That’s what you got to do, loser.” Erik Jäger had a post.
He will be doing a meet and greet at a Berlin store on November 19th. That’s all I got for you because it’s in German. I figured that much out.
That’s what we could suss out.
What's so great about Peloton is you have a sense of community. Share on XI think somewhere in there you can click translate. He posted in German. November is Movember and he is participating. Part of what he’s doing is growing out his mustache for the month of Movember/November.
The must be Movember, like mustache and November.
I tried to say November for real though, then I accidentally said Movember. You wear a mustache for the entire month of Movember/November to raise awareness. You walk or run 60 kilometers on the Tread. That’s what he’s doing. This is all for a global community dedicated to men’s mental health, the prevention of suicide, and prostate cancer and testicular cancer. It’s basically all of the taboo subjects that men don’t like to talk about. That’s the whole point of this. He’s going to be talking about why he specifically is taking part in it and around the campaign in the coming days and weeks. He gives people options to participate and donate as well. Tom, you already have your mustache. You are ready to go.
I am more than ready to go. I already got my mustache as part of a goatee. I think it counts. I’ve already had a colonoscopy and a prostate biopsy. I’ve got the trifecta for Movember.
You have not walked 60 kilometers on the Tread.
I got the trifecta from Movember. I’ve done three of the four. That’s 75%, which earlier you were saying was pretty good.
I was saying 79%.
I only missed it by 4%.
Four percent is a lot.
I like to think I get the extra 4% because I have an enlarged prostate. Not to brag. Charlotte was on the Hand Aufs Herz podcast.
The whole point of this one is that Charlotte is doing a podcast and it’s her first podcast. This is a podcast with Dr. Marcus Knapp. It says he is a failed cardiologist and he founded the podcast Hand on Heart.
That feels like an error in translation.
It sure does. This is why you can’t trust the translation button. Let’s assume he’s a good cardiologist and he founded the podcast Hand on Heart. He is a big Peloton fan. He has been wanting to record an episode with her for a long time. They finally did that and it is out. She also talked about her everyday current life and there’s going to be a lot of stuff in there.
Rounding out our German spotlight, Mayla has a new schedule.
There’s going to be a routine. Monday is going to be house music. Tuesday morning is fitness, and Thursday will be rock music. Enjoy. I’ve seen all these instructors lately posting all their new schedules and I’m like, “I wonder if this is all going to change again in January.” I think it will. It usually does.
It could all change in January but you know what doesn’t change. It’s us having commercials. There are a few.

Joining us once again is Angelo here to answer all of your fitness and nutrition questions.
It’s good to see you.
It’s good to see you too. Andrea has a question about working out later in the evening. It’s usually around 8:00 PM. She’s already had dinner, and she wants to know if she should be eating something after her workout.
Are you ready for the answer? It depends. There isn’t a right and wrong, Andrea. It’s all about what you’re trying to accomplish and what type of workout you’re doing. If your workout is to develop lean mass and you want to increase muscular size and output, then probably yes. You should get a recovery meal that includes protein, some carbohydrates, and perhaps the snack is lower in fats for quicker uptake. It’s digested faster.
If your primary objective is you’re struggling to manage calories and carbs, and you’re in a battle to decrease your intake for optimal, then if you are not hungry after dinner or rather after your workout in the evening and you’re not impaired and you’re able to get through your exercise, you do not need to force it. I would encourage you to make sure you’re getting adequate protein throughout the day, but the timing of protein the research has shown in more recent years is a little less sensitive than what we used to think. We used to think the timing of the protein was critical.
If your performance is down, particularly for energy, the timing of carbohydrates can be that way. The fuel you haven’t yet consumed can’t help you, but the protein window is a little more forgiving. Suffice it to say, even if you’re trying to build some lean mass, as long as your protein intake is adequate throughout the day, even if you don’t have it within the hour after your workout, you’re still going to get a positive response.
Hopefully, that helps, Andrea. The order of importance is determined by what is your priority. If it’s muscular development, muscular hypertrophy, and strength, you want protein and carbs added in there. That’s going to be your priority. If it’s somewhere in between composition and managing your weight, and your energy is okay for the workouts you’re doing, if you are not hungry, don’t feel like you have to get a snack because you don’t have to.
That’s a lot of ifs.
That’s why he said it depends.
I know, but even by Angelo’s standards, there were a lot of ifs there.
That’s why we do so much uniqueness with him.
I know that. Can you imagine him as a child reading Choose Your Own Adventure? He’s like, “I’m going to 48 or page 72. I’m going to go to 48 and 72.”
From a practical sense, when people call us up, they’re usually surprised to find out that they’re not way off. Usually, it’s just making 1 or 2 small tweaks and some nuanced things. They make these 1 or 2 small tweaks and all of a sudden, it’s working. They’re progressive. They’re seeing the results they want. The key is making the right adjustments.
I was way off.
You’re an exception. He said most people.
I should have said most reasonable people. It is fascinating to watch the little tweaks that you make that will move the needle. You would think that’s all I’m doing.
Some people think, this is used to be me, if you were to say eat some protein and carbs. I was thinking about this when you suggested that after. What I would’ve done is have a piece of chicken and stuffing, and that’s not what you mean at all. I know that now.
She still does it but now she knows.
It makes a big difference.
If people would like this sort of information tailor-made for them, where can they find you?
Wonderful. Thank you.
Thank you, guys.

This isn’t technically a competitor, but I didn’t know how else to classify it. Google Health Connect is now available in beta. I will let you explain what that means.
It’s actually not a competitor at all. You know how you can use Apple Health to use the information from your Apple Watch over all of your health data.
It will aggregate all of that for you.
Google Health Connect is a way to do that on the Google side of things. Specifically, they are beta-testing several platforms, one of which is Peloton. That’s why it’s a big deal. In theory, once this is live and working, you’re going to be able to use your Google Watch or whatever you use, and then that will pull over into Google Health Connect, which will then aggregate them all in one place. If you do Peloton and then you go do some workout somewhere else, you’re still going to be able to get all of your data in one place. “Android users will now be able to sync and get credit for their Peloton workouts in apps like Oura, MyFitnessPal, WeightWatchers, and Lifesum,” Google said in a blog post.

We have not one but two new artist collaborations, both pretty big. By big I mean I’ve heard of them.
I learned that I barely know any Carly Rae Jepsen songs.
I just know the one song that made her famous, Call Me Maybe, and then she did one where Tom Hanks was in a video with her or something. I think she’s got a big following. She is very successful.
We’re not just the demo like so many of these other young artists. I took a Carly Rae Jepsen run. I knew not very many songs and it was with Camila Ramón. She was like, “These last four songs are so good and you’re going to know all of them. They get better and better.” She then played Call Me Maybe. I was like, “Maybe I will know these,” then I didn’t know another song. I was like, “I am out of touch.” That was my takeaway from that.
This is probably right up your tween girl alley.
I cannot stand in NSYNC. I do not like boy bands. I know this is very unpopular and I’m getting booed, hissed, and yelled at right now, but I didn’t like them. Who was the other one?
Backstreet Boys, 98 Degrees, New Kids On The Block. Why do I know so many of these?
I don’t know. It’s weird.
The Beatles. Do they count?
I didn’t like any of this stuff.
Don’t let Andrea Barber hear you say that.
I know. Is that Justin Timberlake?
Yes. He’s just starting in this.
I did like Justin Timberlake when he went on his own. That’s all I got for you. I know people are completely excited about this. This is a huge thing. It’s me. I’m the problem. I just didn’t like boy bands.
I benefit from the fact that you don’t like pretty boys who can move. I would be out of luck if that was your jam. I would not be climbing that hill.
They just announced this one. The classes start Friday and Saturday.
Before people at me. This isn’t where he started. It was technically the Mickey Mouse Club. I know people are going to come at me for not saying that.
Do people ever message you? I feel like they just message me.
When I get a pop culture thing wrong.
I thought they just messaged me, “Tell Tom.” That’s usually what I get.
That’s worse because now I’m getting yelled at and they got my wife to yell at me.
Usually, the Tell Toms are very nice things. They’re like, “I found this Monkees thing,” and then they tell me to tell you, or they got your joke and they tell me to tell you. That’s usually the Tell Toms.

Not one but two new collections for people if you’re into apparel.
This one was a mini drop. It was like a navy camouflage and it was reversible. There are mixed reviews on the fact that things are reversible. I thought that this was a very cute print, but I did not buy it because I have bought enough clothes. Mini drop. This one was four items, in, out, and done. We then moved to this week and there was a whole bunch of stuff that dropped for the holidays, like a lot. I also didn’t buy anything. You’re welcome.

Finally, we have one birthday coming up on November 22nd. Don’t forget to say happy birthday to Bradley Rose.
Happy birthday Bradley Rose and your little dog too.
You sound like you’re threatening them.
I didn’t mean it to. He has little Instagram videos of his little dog, and he’s always making faces. He’s got a very plastic face. It’s very stretchy.
Expressive. Is that the word you’re looking for? That doesn’t sound like you’re insulting.
I don’t mean it to be mean. He makes a lot of different expressions. He has a very expressive face. He’s always making faces at his dog. That’s why I said, “Your little dog too.”

Joining us in this episode is Carolyn Holdsworth. Carolyn, how is it going?
I’m great. How are you, guys?
We’re good. It’s so good to have you. I love whenever we get a chance to have a fellow podcaster on. You can always tell because they’ve got the microphone.
The audio instantly sounds better.
The audio sounds different.
All the better to hear us with.
Carolyn, when did you originally come across Peloton?
I’ve known about it for several years. I would probably say 5 or 6 years at least, but it was when my knee started bothering me from too much running. In early 2020, I sat on a spin bike for the first time and was like, “Is this what I’m going to have to do forever?” I started to like it and I ordered my bike. I think it was in late March, right before the lockdown.
You got lucky.
The timing was perfect.
Did you have a moment where you’re like, “Should I flip this?”
I’m not that smart. I should have thought about that. The timing was completely fortuitous and a big happy accident like something that changed my life. I have drunk the Kool-Aid and it’s everything. I’m one of those people.
You’re in a safe place. I am one of those people too.
I love it.
Obviously, the knee injury got you on the spin bike, but that didn’t hook you in. What made you drink the Kool-Aid? What simplified or crystallized the deal?
As I said, I gave it a shot in a group exercise class as an alternative to running on the treadmill and started taking classes with Cody. Cody was recommended by a good friend of mine, Laurie, who’s here in my hometown. She had raved about him. It was his non-intimidating, hilarious, side-splitting personality that got me hooked because I didn’t know what I was doing. I was on it for fun and I had no idea what the numbers meant. I was doing something to move while we were all in lockdown. I laughed my ass off and I fell in love with him. I fell in love with Peloton. If you look at my first six months, it’s all Cody rides every day. I pretty much seriously didn’t know there were other instructors. I knew but I’d never even tried them.
It's about getting the correct information out there. With social media, like any industry, there's a plethora of information. Many people don't know what's real and what's not. Share on XYou were like, “Whatever. They don’t exist for me.”
He hooked me in.
You said you ran before. Do you ever take the Peloton tread classes or outdoor classes and run or walk? I realize that your knees may not be up for running, but take those classes.
I take everything now. Because of riding the bike for a couple of years, my knees got a lot better. I now have the Peloton tread.
You rehabbed.
I’m in the fold here. I’m back to running and loving every component of the company. I do tons of strength classes. I’m a big Power Zone person, with lots of stretching, which has been the biggest game changer for me. I don’t do a lot of outdoors because I have these options here but I do everything. I maximize it.
That makes sense. If you have the tread, you don’t need to leave your home. If you have the tread and the bike, you never need to leave ever.
Right, but the cool thing that I’ve done, which has kept me going, because I’m a big accountability workout person, is I have a group of friends and we all workout together. There are nine of us in total. It’s nine women who used to workout together in group fitness at another company where we had to leave our house. When the lockdown happened and those studios closed, we started working out together. We created a text thread and all caught up. It didn’t start out with nine people. It started out with 4 or 5, then the group grew as everybody bought their equipment. They’re my people and my partners. There are a couple of people that I do FaceTime strength workouts with four times a week. We’re wacky but we love it.
That’s the way it goes. I run every Saturday with Dr. Jenn. She’s on our show every week. She and I started doing our long runs together. We used to use the little camera on the tread but they turned that off. Now we FaceTime the whole time we’re running. It’s ridiculous.
I love that. I get it. My friend Sammy and I FaceTime our strength workouts. We’ve done total strength three times together. We do the splits together. All the different with split programs. I love it.
What do you think when people talk about Peloton and how, “It was a pandemic thing,” and all these people are going back to the gym and yada-yada? You know the spiel that everybody says. What are your thoughts on that because it sounds like you were in the exact opposite of that, you and all your friends?
Jim Devoti, we’re big Orange Theory people, honestly. I’ve done a lot of personal training in my life but once I tried this, what’s so great is you have the sense of community that I crave. The sense of community that I was getting from group fitness in the other places. You have it here, even if I wasn’t FaceTiming during a strength class or like you do with your runs, I feel that I’m not alone.
I’ve got that accountability. I’ve got those buddies like May and other people who I see on the rides. It sounds so weird that it gets me on the bike or on the tread or in front of the screen to do a strength workout. That’s what’s kept me, then it’s the variety of classes. It’s truly never-ending, and the education. I’ve learned how to be a better runner. I’ve learned through Matt Wilpers in Power Zone how to ride a bike. Cody got me in and then Matt taught me how to ride. It’s so much education and information.
Isn’t that interesting how you can go from riding for fun then there’s this tipping point that you hit? I feel like there are stages of Peloton. One of the stages is, “Now I want to be an athlete.” There’s something about that training and learning about it that makes you feel like such a badass athlete.
It’s so true. I got my sister hooked on Peloton too and she had never been big on workouts most of her life. Once she retired, she got a bike and became a Power Zone person and is stronger than ever at age 66. You feel like a jock. You feel like you’re an athlete. Even if you’re not, they’re supporting you as if you are one of them. The positivity is overwhelming. It starts my day off in the right way every day.
Do you workout every day?
I usually take one day off. I try to get a blue dot every day, even if it’s a meditation. I’m trying to take more rest days. It’s tough for me to do that because mentally and emotionally, I need to sweat. As Adrian Williams reminded me to take a rest day. My body does need it. My knees need it. I’m not 25 anymore.
It’s good.
You had mentioned that you’ve become a Power Zone fan and that’s a far cry from, “I like the funny hahas of Cody Rigsby.” How were you radicalized?
It was one of the girls in my Peloton pack that said, “Let’s do this Power Zone ride.” I had no idea what that is. I didn’t know what it was at the time. I gave it a shot and the endurance rides killed me, then Power Zone Max, I was bowled over, but then I kept doing it. I was doing the Wednesday live classes every morning and that’s where I would connect with May, who I knew here in real life as well.
Do you live in Philly?
I live outside of Philly. She used to live close to me. We had a mutual friend. I’ve known her for sixteen years. I would always see her on Wednesday morning Matt rides and the Saturday Morning live rides. Those live rides created that accountability for me. Doing it over and over again, I started to get into a groove. I understood it. I paced myself. I stayed in the zones and it completely changed the way I ride the bike because it built endurance literally. I stayed there, but now I can do so much more because of those. It trains you.
It does. How do you balance Power Zone with your other rides and your other content?
Since I got the tread, I have to say it’s like the new kid on the block now. It’s getting a little bit more attention than my bike does. I’ve been paying a little more attention to the power walks, which are great for my joints. Your heart rate goes up quickly. You sweat like a mother and it’s a lot of fun. Matty is my favorite there. Matty and Rebecca. Matty is the best. He’s the best.
He is such a bright light.
He does and I love his music. He’s got the best taste in music, so I balance it. I probably do 2 to 3 treads a week to bike max, then strength at least four times a week now. What changed my fitness a lot is the strength.
Good for you. Was it your friends that said, “We need to add the strength in?” Was it you that decided we need to get the strength in? How did you start that?
It was my friends. Once we all had our bikes separately, we came together as a group. A couple of my friends were exploring the app and all the different categories of fitness. These girls are a little bit younger than me and a little bit more fit. They’ve truly been athletes. One of them was a serious athlete at one point. They taught me and so I followed the lead. I’m a bit of a sheep when it comes to inventing what I do over the week but it’s so much fun. Every now and then I choose something but it’s hard to beat their choices.
That’s great though. Honestly, isn’t that what it’s all about? When you’re not an expert on something and somebody else is trying things, that’s how you learn new things. That’s fabulous. Who cares how got there? It’s great that you got there.
It’s a blast. It’s literally changed my life and I could talk about it all day long.
I’m curious when it comes to the Power Zone and doing your cycling classes, do you have your go-to instructors? I feel like Cody and Power Zone are very different, very polar opposites. I’m very curious about your favorites in Power Zone and non-Power Zone.
My favorite in Power Zone is Matt Wilpers, 100% all day, every day. With all due respect to the others, I’ve taken all the other instructors and their Power Zone classes. He’s just my guy. I love his temperament. I love his education. I feel supported. It’s an emotional connection that I have with him. I love it. He keeps me coming back. In terms of other instructors, Andy Speer is my guy. He has changed my body in terms of strength. Total strength 1, total strength 2, I can’t say enough great things about them.
I love those programs. I love the stretching components, before and after his personality. I love a big personality. I love the big Cody. I love the big Andy. I love Alex Toussaint. I love the big personality and Andy brings it. He’s a goofball and he doesn’t care. He doesn’t take himself seriously but his form is perfect. His body’s inspiring and his music’s great. He’s my guy.
That’s awesome. You said you like Rebecca too. They’re a couple, so they give out that similar energy.
They do. I love her. Her core classes are great. Her power walks are amazing and so challenging. Her body is so beautiful. She’s so strong. I also love Adrian Williams. He’s one of my favorites. Those are my favorite strengths. I’m a big Emma Lovewell fan too. She’s somebody that calms me down, but don’t sleep on her rides. She will kick your butt.
They’re sneaky. As you said, they are calm but she’s amping up the energy. It’s energy but it’s this quiet energy. As opposed to some of the instructors who will go big and go loud. It’s a very different vibe.
Very much so. I love her music.
You can’t beat her core classes. Those are the best.
Crush Your Core, I love it. I love all the programs. I love them. They dumb it down for you. You don’t have to think. You just follow it and do this from day one. It makes it so easy. With the 5 or 10 minutes here and there, you can always fit it in. There’s never an excuse. Once I do one after a ride, I’ll find myself doing two more. I’ll then do a Tunde arm class or I’ll add on another stretch. Before you know it, I’ve done another 45 minutes of exercise on top of my ride or my run. It didn’t even feel like it. My body is more balanced because of it.
You have this big fancy microphone there because you have a podcast. Tell us about your podcast.
Thanks. It’s a new podcast. It’s called Glow and Tell. You can find it everywhere podcasts are Spotify, Apple Music, and all those. It’s inspired by what I do for a living. I happen to own a Spa for a living. I’ve had this for seventeen years. It’s my second career. I was in the business world for the first half of my career life for about 18 or 19 years. I’m a skincare junkie. I’m an aesthetician myself in addition to running the business.
I’ve tried it. It feels like every product out there. I’ve had a skin problem myself. For years, I’ve been asked questions, “How do I fix this? How do I handle that? What about this service? What about this product or this device?” People kept saying, “You should have a podcast.” I’m giving it a shot. We’ll see if people dig it and if it’s helpful and informative. At this point, I’m having a lot of fun, so Glow and Tell.
That’s great. That’s a lot of fun.
That’s good too for you having the other business. It can generate clients for that. You have different ways to make that useful as well besides trying to get big enough to have ads or whatnot.
The ads thing is not even in my head. If that happened, that’s such a happy surprise. It’s about getting the correct information out there because, with social media, like any industry, there’s a plethora of information. Many people don’t know what’s real and what’s not, whether it’s about fitness or skin care or diet or what have you.
Fitness, skin care, physical health, and inner health, it’s all one. We’re all one big system. On the program we talk about all the different things that can create your glow, so to speak. Glowing from the inside out, outside in. We did have a fitness component a couple of weeks ago and talked a lot about macros. We talked about the right way to do a squat and calorie counting. Great circulation is the number one thing to help fight lines and wrinkles. The more circulation, the more protein, amino acids, and collagen production is happening. You’re going to look better in the end. Not just feel better.
You’ll look better in the end and your end will look better.
Hopefully.
I think you might be interested in Stacy Sims. She talks all about as we get older and go through perimenopause and menopause, how our muscles contract differently because of the way that our hormones are. I’m not going to go into a deep dive but I’m saying it’s super fascinating to me because like you said, it’s all one. As we get older, our ability to contract muscle literally changes because our hormones have changed. Therefore, we need to start doing different kinds of lifting and different kinds of training on the bike or running and things like that. I feel like that has to do with how it all goes together. I feel like it’s fascinating. It might be something you might be interested in learning more about.
Thank you. I’m that demographic and I’m in that moment. My body has changed a lot in the past year and I’m technically in menopause. I’m 53 and it’s different. My body is different. The way I workout has to be different. I get that and I know who she is but I’ve not listened to her. I’m excited, so thank you for recommending that. I’ll check her out.
She’s fabulous. I have a huge girl crush on her. I talk about her all the time.
She must be awesome then.
I’m also curious and I have no idea if you’ve ever seen the show on TV. This will show you how little I know about aestheticians and all the things that you can do. There was a show called Skin Decision and I was obsessed with it. It was on Netflix. It would be surgery versus things that you could do in the office that were non-surgical.
They would help people fix things they had going on with their skin or their body sometimes, and then they would figure out, “Is this the best way to do it? Is it best to do it surgically or is it best to do it with non-invasive ways?” I didn’t know if you’d ever seen that show and if you had thoughts about whether or not they gave good advice. I was curious.
Unfortunately, I don’t know that show but I think it’s an amazing name for a TV show. Skin Decision is great but I’ll have to check it out. That’s a hot topic. Do we want to cut something or do we want to do an injection or do we want to do something topically at home? We talk about that on Glow and Tell as well. It’s a question we get every day. There are many good options. There are many paths to achieving what you want. Doing topical treatments at home is going to take longer. You may not get where surgery is going to get you, but there’s an improvement that can be had. There’s something out there for everyone, but I’ll check out the show.
I was curious because it was the first time I had watched anything that made me less scared of spas. It was interesting to me because prior to that, my perception of anything that you went to and that you had any injections or anything done like that was like, “That’s bad.” That was my overall perception of it. It educated me a lot. It opened my mind. You can take things too far, of course, but there are a lot of things that you can do that aren’t super invasive. That was the first thing I had ever seen that showed me that. I think it’s cool all the things that spas can do now. You can go in and as you said, there are things that are helping people but that you don’t necessarily have to cut to be able to do. That’s amazing.
Technically, my spa is called Nurture Spa. We’re in New Hope, Pennsylvania. We’re not a medical spa. We do have a plastic surgeon who visits a couple of times a month out of Manhattan, but we are a more traditional luxury spa, with massages, facials and non-invasive treatments. I am in that camp for 95% of my life. There are so many things that you can do that will make you feel better and look better that isn’t going to hurt at all.
We like the not hurting.
Same here. I’m with you.
How long have you been doing your podcast? You said it’s new.
It’s brand new. We just finished our first month.
Congratulations.
Thanks. It’s super brand new but I love it. It’s a lot of fun. It’s weekly. We record it live and it streams the next day. It’s a lot of work but it’s fun work. I love the creative outlet and it’s pushing me in different ways, so I’m digging it. It’s cool.
What do they say, “80% of podcasts don’t make it past the third episode?”
You’ve already done it. Look at that.
Thanks. I didn’t know that.
There are scary podcast stats out there. We’ve heard them all. Something like to get in the top 10%, it’s like 1,000 downloads in a week or something like that. That means that most podcasts never see those numbers. It’s like a huge number. Many people have pod fade. It’s tough. It’s a lot of work.
It is a lot. I’m surprised. It’s not what I thought it was going to be.
A lot of people think you sit down and you talk and you’re done. Once you start doing it, especially if you want to do it properly, there’s a lot that goes beyond the part that people are hearing now.
People have no clue.
That’s true.
We didn’t. We thought we had a clue, especially as it grew. It turned into a job. It went from a part-time job to a full-time job.
It’s like we have two full-time jobs but it can be so rewarding because you develop these relationships. Yours is a little bit different because you’re solving problems for people in a way. We are not solving problems. We’re having conversations.
We try to create problems for people. That’s our goal.
You folks get a lot of good info out there to us. Some serious, which we all love.
Thank you.
With all the details. I love it.
We try but it’s a very different beast. It’s neat to get into the details. We went to Podcast Movement, which is the first year we’ve done that. It’s a big podcast convention. I think it’s the largest in the industry. It was fascinating to see all of the different things that are coming out in the market, all the editing tools, and all new. It’s wow. It’s a lot. It’s cool.
Where do they have that? Is it LA or New York?
This 2022 was in Dallas and the next is in Colorado. It moves around. They have one they do in between that’s called Evolutions. That one seems to always be in LA. The big one seems to bounce around.
It’s a lot of fun. Let us know if you end up going.
I will for sure.
If you’re looking for a smaller one.
You’d be perfect for it.
Where we went our first year was called She Podcast. It’s for female-created podcasts.
It would be so perfect for you.
You don’t have any male speakers. You don’t have any of that.
The whole point of it is because of these larger ones, which are also amazing. We’re not talking it down but when you go, sometimes women are taking a backseat at a podcast convention because it’s a very male-dominated industry. She Podcast flips that and so it’s all women speakers. It’s all women hosts that are there. It’s cool.
When we went, there were two other men there besides me. At that, were doing things.
It’s such a supportive atmosphere. It was intensely amazing.
It’s a great way to get your feet wet because it’s a little bit smaller. Podcast Movement can be intimidating. It is massive.
It’s overwhelming.
I’ll check out She. Thank you.
Sorry, we got way off in the weeds there. It’s what we do.
There are many paths to achieving what you want. You may not get where surgery's going to get you, but there's an improvement that can be had. Share on XWhat is your leaderboard name?
It’s so boring. I need a better one. It’s lame. It’s MsCarolyn.
I don’t think it’s boring but if you want to change it, you should think about some spa thing.
That’s what so many people suggested but I didn’t want to be like the spa girl because that’s only one part of me. I need to work on one because mine is lame.
I don’t think it’s lame but I do think you need something a little snappier for that shout-out. We got to get you something snappy.
I think I got one.
I’m scared.
No, this is a good one. Why is everybody looking at me like I’m going to say something bad?
You make jokes all the time.
ReadySetGlow.
I love it.
That’s good.
That’s why I said it. That’s what I do.
You might want to sign in as soon as we’re done recording and see if that’s there.
I’ll try to grab it.
It might already be taken, but it’s with the name of your show.
Thank you, Tom. That’s good.
You’re welcome.
I’ve only gotten one shout-out of my Peloton career but it was nice. It was in person with Andy when I was at the studios.
That’s nice.
I think in-studio is the best. You just went? You must have gone recently.
I went with two of my friends from here that I work out with, Sammy and Tracy. We all had milestones and we did a 30-minute hit run with Andy.
That is brave of you to do a HIIT run in the studio.
These girls are runners and I’m barely keeping up. I didn’t want to jump the rails. That was my whole thing. Don’t stop. It was a blast. It was my 100th run, so I’m still a newbie at the tread. Thanks.
Congrats. That is very cool. I’m so glad you got to celebrate that in person.
Thank you. I’m happy to run and not hurt.
You’re so lucky to live nearby that you can go do that. It’s a whole thing because we live in Missouri. It’s a whole thing to come all the way there.
You guys were there not that long ago.
Yes, we were very fortunate to go and I got classes. Who knows when the stars will align again?
We’re trying to get back in for more classes, as you probably know. It’s challenging. They release classes. It seems like Monday at around noon our time, and we’re jumping on. It’s tough. I hope they open up more classes in the near future.
Did you that they are releasing classes for Thanksgiving? If you want to do the studio rides on Thanksgiving Day, they’re posting them at noon Eastern for Thanksgiving.
Thank you for saying that. I saw that Alex is doing his Turkey Burn Tread. I saw on his Instagram his tread run with his incline.
His tread classes are tough. Come on, Alex. I thought when you were transitioning from the bike to the tread.
Baby steps.
I thought it’d be a little easier but no.
There’s no baby in this stepping.
He was like, “I’m going to kill you all now.” Let’s go. Let’s do it.
I love him so much. I love his classes. Talk about motivation.
That could be a thing for you. Maybe you can go. That would be cool.
Do you have any advice for people just entering the world of Peloton? People just starting out.
Do something every day, even if it’s a ten-minute stretch. Even if it’s a meditation, do something every day. You’re going to feel better. Don’t be afraid to try the different categories or the different fitness categories that may not be your regular go-tos. I’m not a big yoga person but I’ve done some yoga. It’s better doing it in the privacy of my own house because I don’t feel like an idiot when I can’t move the way other people do. Much of the exploring that I’ve done in the different categories, I’ve built confidence because I’m not doing it in a public setting. My advice is to do something every day, even if it’s 5 or 10 minutes.
That is excellent advice.
It’s a good way to build a routine.
It takes 21 days to make a habit, I think something like that. If you do something 21 times, you’ll get to the point where it will fuel you emotionally and mentally. It’s a great outlet. It’s a great sweat if you go that route and do something every day.
Thank you so much for taking time out of your day to join us. We appreciate it. Before we let you go, remind everybody where they can find you. I assume you would like to be found because you’ve got things.
I would love to be found and thank you for having me. This has been such a pleasure. My Instagram handle is my first and last name, @CarolynHoldsworth. The podcast is Glow and Tell and it’s everywhere podcasts are found. MsCarolyn or maybe soon-to-be ReadySetGlow.
I hope there’s not someone who that’s their leaderboard name, and now they’re sitting there looking at their phone being like, “Nuh-uh.”
Do something every day. You're going to feel better. Share on XThanks a million. It’s so much fun.
I know you mentioned a couple of times that you know May. For anybody who doesn’t know who that is. That’s MayMay on the leaderboard.
She’s the best.
She is. She’s a delight. That lady has done so many amazing things. I could listen to her stories all day.
She’s an incredible human and a big motivation.
Yes, very inspirational.
Thanks for all that you guys do. It’s so exciting and so cool. I love having you in this world. Thanks for doing this.
Thank you. That is very kind of you.
My pleasure.
