This and That from the Peloverse: Week of July 13

It’s the middle of summer you know what that means – most people’s schedules are hectic and out of routine, some are juggling kids’ camps, and vacations are in full swing.  You may not have the down time for your regularly scheduled social media scroll to catch up on all things Peloton but worry not – we’ve got ya covered!  Here are five things from the Peloverse that may have slipped past you this week to keep you updated of all the latest news!

Cliff Dwenger Releases Gospel Song

Cliff Dwenger, otherwise known as Afrow Cliff, released his first Gospel hip-hop song titled Work Hard, Pray Hard.  The PSL German-speaking instructor has a history with hip-hop music  and even found himself in the semi-finals of ‘Voice of Germany’, but this is his first foray into Gospel.  His song is now available on all streaming platforms and features Big Gospel choir.  Go support one of Peloton’s favorite guys, give it a listen, and congrats to Cliff on his new venture!

Rad Lopez Announces Nike Partnership

Rad Lopez took to Instagram to announce that is he now officially a Nike athlete!  This is no small feat – Nike Athletes are at the top of their fitness game and represent the brand’s ‘Just Do It’ personality.  We certainly can’t argue there; with some of the most difficult strength workouts on the Peloton platform, Rad instructs each class with a smile and impeccable attention to proper form.  We are excited for this new opportunity for him, and wish Rad a big congratulations!

Susie Chan’s Running Journey

Susie Chan recently gave an eye-opening interview on BBC.  She outlines her early running journey – she found herself stuck in a rut, drinking, smoking, watching TV, and unmotivated – and a conversation with her brother encouraging her to try a half marathon struck a chord.  She did in fact run the half marathon but admits her pace was too fast out of the gate and she didn’t know much about running or how to train.  She was bit by the running bug, though, and soon found herself in a running club and surrounding herself with like-minded people.  Running gave her the confidence she needed to excel not only physically but in her everyday life as a single Mom.  She also discusses how coughing while running led to her thyroid cancer diagnosis and how she overcame that.  Overall, an absolutely inspirational 8 minute interview.  Give it a listen at the link below and give Susie’s new book, The Running Adventures of Susie Chan, a read as she outlines everything in far more detail. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p0j2x1c4

Robin Arzon Teams Up with Robin Roberts for GMA’s ‘Everyday Greatness’

A couple of Robins are ready to inspire you to achieve greatness!  We can’t think of a better pair of inspirational women than Robin Arzon and Robin Roberts.  They two are joining forces for a new GMA series called Everyday Greatness where they call upon industry leaders – think Tory Burch – to give tips and tricks to excel in one’s field.  Robin Arzon asked for questions and suggestions about the series on her Instagram account to perhaps be features on GMA!  Congrats to Robin on this new venture and we cannot wait to see what she and Ms. Roberts have to offer!

Selena Samuela Featured in Golf Digest

You may have noticed a new series Strength for Golfers program on the Peloton platform, but Selena Samuela recently was interviewed by Golf Digest to discuss what led to this new program and her love of golf.  Selena took up the sport during the pandemic.  As a novice, she noted all the work that goes into have proper form and swing, and saw an opportunity to increase strength to improve these areas for golfers.  She notes that her husband loves her golf mobility classes and that although professionals may not benefit from what she has to offer, the program has a lot of benefits for those just starting out or those who want to improve all the muscles (think chest, back, arms) used to swing a golf club and lower your score.  Congrats to Selena for seeing a need for this on the platform and helping golfers around the world with her new series – this is a hole-in-one for sure!
