Peloton’s Fall 2024 Schedule Changes: What You Need to Know

Signs of Autumn: Peloton’s Seasonal Shift

As the crisp fall air begins to set in and the leaves start to turn, there’s another familiar sign that autumn has arrived—Peloton’s seasonal schedule change. This biannual adjustment is something long-time Members have come to expect, but it may catch newer Members off-guard. And, let’s be honest, most people aren’t super fond of sudden change.

Peloton typically makes these changes twice a year: once around June for the summer schedule and again in September when the studios reopen from their annual fall break and they transition back to a more traditional lineup. But unlike daylight savings time, which is universally dreaded, Peloton’s schedule shifts bring a mix of reactions, especially when they interfere with established routines.

Subtle Announcements

Peloton typically doesn’t make a formal announcement when they tweak the schedule. Instead, it’s up to Members to spot the changes and adjust their plans accordingly. Occasionally, Instructors will share updates on their Instagram channels, offering a heads up to their loyal followers, but often it’s a game of guesswork until the changes are in full effect…or, until you try to count yourself in for your usual class, only to find it’s not where it used to be.

Key Changes to the Fall Lineup

As always, there are notable shifts in the Peloton schedule. One of the biggest adjustments is the bump in early morning classes. The 6:00am ET classes have been pushed to 6:30am. For some, this might seem like a minor change, but for those squeezing in a workout before heading to work, that half-hour shift can significantly impact their routine, and their ability to fit their workout in.

Goodbye 6:00am ET live classes, hello 6:30am ET live classes

Another significant change is in Matty Maggiacomo’s Walk & Talk classes, which have been moved to Fridays. Earlier this summer, these classes were temporarily shifted from their usual Wednesday spot to Tuesdays due to on-going PSNY studio closures on Wednesdays. The move to Fridays is likely to be met with enthusiasm, especially as these fun and chatty pop-culture-centered sessions will now include Members in the studio.

Rowing In the Early Morning, Not So Much at Night

Row class die-hards will also notice a shift in their schedule. While early morning row classes remain on the lineup, they now start at 6:30am ET, just like the shift in all of the other morning classes. However, for those in different time zones, particularly on the West Coast, the absence of later live classes will likely be met with disappointment. For the foreseeable future, if you want to take a Row class, you’ll either need to fit it in by 8:00am ET, or make peace with the On Demand library. That said, we did notice that one dedicated rower shared in a Peloton Row group that they woke up early to join Alex Karwoski’s 6:30 AM EST class on September 3rd…which was 2:30am their time! Now, that’s commitment!

Fun fact: Rowers have long practiced early in the morning for several reasons. The tradition dates back to the early days of competitive rowing in England when dawn races were held to avoid boat traffic. So, even though many rowers are understandably disappointed by the new schedule and the absence of live afternoon classes, it actually (sort of) reflects the traditional timing of rowing practices….if that’s any consolation at all.

Incidentally, we are curious to see how this shift affects future Artist Series Row classes, as those typically happen later in the afternoons and evenings on Thursdays.  Will they sneak a live evening rowing class in from time to time?  Or will Artist Series rowing classes be pre-recorded drops? We’ll have to wait and see on that one.

Misery Loves Company

West Coast rowers feeling frustrated by the limited Live Class options might find some common ground with fellow West Coast runners and walkers. According to the current schedule for the next two weeks, Members in the Mountain time zone and beyond, especially those with a traditional workday, will likely struggle to catch live classes after getting home from work, with the possible exception of Thursday 7:00pm ET run classes with Mariana.

The one bright spot that we can offer West Coast Members comes in the form of cycling classes with Camila.  The schedule shows that there are a handful scheduled on Thursday evenings.

Navigating the Changes: Tips for Members

For those looking to stay on top of the changes, a few instructors have (helpfully!) shared their updated schedules on Instagram. However, for many, it may require some scrolling and flexibility to find the new times that work best. If live classes are a crucial part of your fitness routine, be prepared for some adjustments—and remember, just like the seasons, these schedules will eventually shift again and you won’t be stuck with this lineup of classes forever.

Have Your Say

If you’re not thrilled with the changes, especially if you counted on that 6:00am class or are on the West Coast and really don’t want to wake up at 2:30am, there’s always an option to voice your opinion. Peloton welcomes feedback through their Member request form, where you can suggest adjustments or simply share your thoughts on the new schedule. You never know—your feedback might influence the next round of changes. Letting them hear your thoughts certainly can’t hurt.

Quick Reminder

Before anyone freaks out and asks “Where’s Emma?!?,” remember (and remind your friends) that you won’t find her on the live schedule for several more months, as she takes time off to enjoy new-mom life with baby Skylar. Although, you may see new content drop that she filmed prior to maternity leave.
