Curious About Peloton Tread+ Availability in the UK and Europe

Last Updated: December 16, 2025By Tags: , ,

Why Isn’t the Peloton Tread+ Available in the UK or Europe?

Many Peloton Members across the pond in the UK and Europe have been asking the same question: what’s going on with the Peloton Tread+ availability? The conversation around Tread+, and it’s overseas arrival, has been constant, especially since the product has been exclusive to North American markets for some time. During a recent annual shareholder meeting, Peloton CEO Peter Stern finally gave some straight answers, and the reasons might surprise you.

For those of you who have been patiently waiting, the delay isn’t just about market strategy. It turns out there are some very practical, technical hurdles that Peloton needs to clear before a global rollout can happen. The good news is that we now have a clearer picture of what’s going on behind the scenes at Peloton headquarters.

Here’s the breakdown of what’s holding up the Peloton Tread+ availability and it’s international launch:

  • Electrical Incompatibility: The primary issue for the Tread+ is a mismatch in power standards between North America and Europe.
  • Market-Specific Design: The current Tread+ was built specifically for the US and Canadian power grids.
  • Uncertain Demand for Row+: For the Row+, the decision is less about technology and more about market demand.

A Question of Power: The Tread+ Dilemma

The biggest roadblock for international Peloton Tread+ availability is a simple but significant technical one: electricity. The Peloton Tread+ was designed and built to operate on the US power standard, which is 120 volts at a 60Hz frequency. This works perfectly fine in the United States and Canada, where the product was recently launched.

However, countries in the UK and Europe, such as Germany and Austria, use a different standard altogether. Their power grids run on 230 volts at a 50Hz frequency. This incompatibility means you can’t just slap a new plug on a US-model Tread+ and expect it to work safely or effectively. It would require a substantial redesign of the machine’s internal electrical systems to make it compatible with European outlets.

Stern explained that until a clear path to creating a compatible version is established, the Tread+ will remain a product for the US and Canadian markets only. This isn’t just a minor tweak; it’s a major engineering challenge that requires significant investment and development. So, while it’s frustrating for those waiting, the reason is based on safety and product functionality.

What About the Row+?

While the Tread+ has a very concrete, technical reason for its limited availability, the story for the Row+ is a bit different. The hurdles for the rowing machine are less about hardware and more about business strategy. According to the information shared, the decision to launch the Row+ in international markets like the UK, Europe, or Australia comes down to demand.

Peloton is assessing whether there is enough interest in these regions to justify the costs and logistics of a global rollout. This includes manufacturing, shipping, marketing, and providing customer support for a brand-new product category. Unlike the Tread+, which has a clear technical problem to solve, the future of the Row+ internationally seems to depend on market analysis and growth projections.

The Future of Peloton Tread+ Availability

So, what does this all mean for Peloton Members outside of North America? For now, patience is key. The company has not provided a specific timeline for when a redesigned, internationally compatible Tread+ might become available. The focus appears to be on solving the electrical compatibility issue before any further steps are taken.

As for the Row+, the ball is in the court of international demand. If the interest is strong enough, we may see it arrive sooner than the Tread+.

Peloton continues to innovate and expand its offerings, as seen with the recent launch of the new Cross Training Series. While the wait for the Tread+ (and Row+) availability continues, it’s clear the company is being deliberate and careful with its hardware expansion. We will be keeping a close eye on any new developments regarding Peloton Tread+ availability and will share updates as soon as they become available.
