Introducing the New Peloton App
Now available on iOS App Store
We shared earlier today that the new Peloton app is now available to iOS users using Update 17 and above, including Apple Watch users, but let’s break down what you can expect to see there, compared to the Gym feature on the existing Peloton app.
What’s different about Strength+?
Simply put, the new Peloton app offers a more focused and flexible approach to gym workouts.
According to Peloton,
“The new Peloton app (Strength+) offers an efficient and tailored way for current and future Members to have more flexibility in their gym-centric workouts with custom workouts tailored to individual goals, preferences, and available equipment, and multi-week, Instructor-led workout programs. Whichever option a Member chooses, all workouts are paired with audio guidance and expert coaching for various commonly used gym equipment such as cable machines, barbells, leg presses, leg extensions, kettlebells, medicine balls, and more. The app launches with content from Instructors Rad Lopez, Andy Speer, Ben Alldis, Assal Arian, Rebecca Kennedy, and Jermaine Johnson, along with informational guides and new Peloton Clips, instructional how-to-videos.” (Read their full Press Release here and view their FAQs here.)
Below is the official Peloton YouTube video explaining it:
New Peloton App (Strength+) vs Gym – What’s the Difference?
The big question on everyone’s mind is what is the difference between the Gym feature and Strength+? The main differences appear to be in the customizing capabilities and the video content. In Gym, you can choose what you want to do, and still get an overview of your plan and the guidance, but it lacks the advanced options in the new app. In the App, members can choose Programs to follow as well as create their own. When using the “Generator” feature to create a customized plan using the equipment you choose, the body focus, the time, the level, and if you want a warm up or not, the best part is actually the “Refresh” button that lets you reset the exercises if you don’t like the first plan presented to you! You can also manually “Add a Block” to your plan by scrolling through an alphabetical library. Very exciting! You can also add your own songs to listen to as you work! So whether you are needing some 90s rock, some DMX, or maybe German EDM or Latin rhythms, you can get the musical motivation to push through the reps when using the new Peloton app!
