On Saturday, March 8, 2025, the men of My Brother’s Keeper (MBK) “took over” Peloton Studio New York for a day filled with energy, connection, and classes that won’t be forgotten anytime soon. This year’s event marked MBK’s third annual gathering for which a huge shoutout must be given to Alex Karowski, who played a pivotal role in the events leading up to this past Saturday.

The studio takeovers began in 2023 with an inspiring in-person ride with Alex Toussaint at PSNY, followed by a memorable trip to Peloton Studio London in the fall of 2024 in celebration of the UKs Black History Month at the invite of Cliff Dwenger that year. The second annual takeover included rides and treadmill workouts with celebrated instructors Hannah FranksonJoslyn Thompson RuleJermaine Johnson, and Cliff Dwenger.

What is My Brother’s Keeper?

Founded by Barry Ballard six years ago, MBK was born out of a question he asked himself after noticing a thriving group of Black women Peloton users. “Is there a similar group for Black men?” When the answer was no, Ballard decided to create one himself. Fast forward to today, and MBK is home to over 1,100 Black Men—fathers, college professors, corporate executives, community and political leaders, entrepreneurs and more—who use Peloton not only to stay fit but also to foster brotherhood and positivity.

Described by Peloton as a space “where connection, support, and shared experiences transform wellness into something deeper,” MBK members have built a family that celebrates representation in both fitness and life.

The Day at Peloton Studio NY

For their latest event, the men of MBK made their presence felt at PSNY with unified energy, athleticism, and, most importantly, camaraderie. They joined a slew of classes led by some of Peloton’s most iconic instructors, including Alex Toussaint, Christine D’Ercole, Adrian Williams, and Denis Morton.

The day wasn’t just about getting in a workout; it was about celebrating their shared fitness journeys and strengthening bonds within the group. And judging by the smiles and synchronized vibes in every snapshot, the event was an overwhelming success!

More Than Just Fitness

MBK is proof that Peloton is more than a cycling platform; it’s a tool for building powerful communities. For Barry Ballard and the brothers of MBK, it’s about breaking barriers, sharing stories, and staying motivated. The group provides a safe space to encourage one another, celebrate wins (big and small), and support each other’s wellness goals.

This isn’t just anecdotal. Peloton itself recently shared on Instagram & Youtube, “Together, Barry, Calvin, Derek, Lewis, Major, and Russell have built a community that proves representation matters—not just in fitness, but in life.”

United in Community and Mission

At the heart of MBK is the understanding that shared experiences matter. Whether it’s celebrating milestones in your fitness journeys, having tough conversations, or simply participating in a group ride, MBK has created a space that resonates far beyond Peloton as a brand.

The PSNY event wasn’t just about pushing pedals. It was about pushing boundaries, strengthening friendships, and showing the world what it means to move together.

Here’s to many more group rides, milestones, and moments of connection for “My Brother’s Keeper.” If you’re motivated by their story and want to join in as Black Man looking for a fitness community that meets you where you are, “My Brother’s Keeper” is waiting for you.

Here’s to keeping the movement strong, and to celebrating what it truly means to be your brother’s keeper.
