Meet the Peloton Interim Co-CEOs, Karen Boone and Chris Bruzzo
Earlier today, ahead of its scheduled quarterly earnings call, Peloton announced the departure of CEO Barry McCarthy. While Peloton is on the hunt for a new chief, let’s take a moment to get acquainted with Karen Boone and Chris Bruzzo, the two Peloton Board Members who are now tasked with piloting the Pelo-ship as Interim Co-CEOs.
Karen Boone
Ms. Boone has a distinguished career in both financial leadership and administrative roles. From May 2014 to November 2018, she held the positions of President, Chief Financial, and Administrative Officer at Restoration Hardware, Inc., a company specializing in home furnishings. This role was preceded by her tenure as the Chief Financial Officer of the same company, from June 2012 to May 2014.
Her professional experience extends beyond Restoration Hardware, starting with a long-standing career at Deloitte & Touche LLP, an accounting and consulting firm. Here, Ms. Boone assumed various roles from December 1996 until June 2012, culminating in her position as an Audit Partner.
Academically, Ms. Boone is well-qualified, holding a Bachelor of Science in Business Economics from the University of California, Davis. Further solidifying her expertise in the field, she is also a Certified Public Accountant.
Recognizing her extensive background in accounting and management, Peloton appointed Ms. Boone to their board of directors in January of 2019 as Audit Committee Chair, and she also serves as a member of the Nominating, Governance and Corporate Responsibility Committee.
In addition to her seat at Peloton, Boone is also a member of the Board of Directors for Sonos, Inc., Rivian Automotive, Inc., as well as various private firms such as Tory Burch, Clif Bar, and Collective Health.
Chris Bruzzo
Chris Bruzzo, with a background spanning over two decades at leading global consumer brands, brings to the table a wealth of expertise in marketing, brand management, digital strategy, communications, retail, and interactive entertainment. Although relatively new to Peloton, (he was named to the Peloton Board of Directors in December of 2023), he certainly isn’t new to the world of industry heavy hitters.
His career includes a notable tenure as Executive Vice President and Chief Experience Officer at Electronic Arts (EA) for nine years. Before joining EA, Bruzzo held several key roles in marketing and communications at Starbucks Corporation, Amazon.com, and Regence Blue Shield. An active member of the Latino Corporate Directors Association, Bruzzo also contributes his insights on the boards of MoneyGram International and Boot Barn Holdings, Inc. He is a graduate of Whitworth University (1991) with a B.A. in Political Studies.
The timeline for finding a permanent CEO for Peloton remains uncertain, but we wholeheartedly support these two individuals as they steer the company through the challenges of corporate shakeup.
